How to Get and Upgrade Gear for Characters in Arknights: Endfield

In Arknights: Endfield, craft operator gear at the AIC Gearing Unit, build sets around useful two- or three-piece bonuses, and use Gear Artificing to improve eligible Golden-tier pieces. Weapons are a separate choice: the in-game Matching Weapon tool recommends options based on an operator’s skills and attributes.

What counts as character gear?

Operator gear is distinct from weapons and weapon Essences. The progression guide describes five gear slots: one armor piece, one pair of gloves, two kits, and one Tactical. Many gear sets grant an effect when you equip two pieces, with another effect at three pieces.

Because sets can span multiple slots, compare the stats a character needs with the bonus you can actually activate. A piece with attractive individual stats may be less useful than one that completes a relevant set effect.

How to get gear

Craft pieces at the AIC Gearing Unit

The main route described in the progression guide is crafting gear at the AIC Gearing Unit with Components and Stockbills. Lower-level recipes unlock as your account progresses, while some advanced gear recipes may require discovery through exploration. The guide does not establish a complete current recipe list or exact costs, so check the recipe screen in your game for what is available to you.

Check progression rewards and limited examples

Gear-related items can also be tied to progression systems. A Gryphline update dated March 2026 says that upgrading Valley IV – Origin Lodespring Stock Redistribution to level 4 unlocks the Valley Multi-Line Engraving Kit as a staple good; using it grants an Essence with three customized stats. The same update lists additional gear packs. These are dated examples, not a guarantee that the item or packs are currently available in every region or version; verify the relevant in-game system.

How to choose and equip gear

  • Start with the operator’s needs and the stats relevant to their role and build.
  • Check whether equipping two or three pieces activates a useful set effect.
  • Consider the piece’s tier and whether it can be improved through Artificing.
  • Weigh the benefit of a better stat or set bonus against the resources and progress you have for improving it.

The progression guide provides the slot and set framework, but it does not establish one universally best set. Choose based on the character and the pieces you can obtain.

How Gear Artificing works

Gear Artificing is an improvement system for gear, not weapon enhancement. The progression guide places its unlock in Wuling City and says Golden-tier gear is eligible. Confirm the unlock and eligibility in the current in-game menus.

In its release preview dated January 17, 2026, the Arknights: Endfield Team described Artificing as building progress for a particular selected stat: repeated attempts accumulate progress, and reaching the limit guarantees that the next attempt for that stat succeeds. Good Match materials increase the chance of succeeding immediately. The preview does not give the numerical progress limit or exact material costs, so consult the Artificing screen rather than relying on an assumed amount.

How to choose a weapon

Weapons are separate from operator gear and weapon Essences. Use the in-game Matching Weapon tool as a starting point: the official release preview says it recommends a weapon match using an operator’s skills and attributes. Treat that recommendation as guidance for the build, not a universal ranking. A secondary progression guide notes that operators of the same type can use signature weapons and do not necessarily need their signature weapon to perform well.

Compare the suggested match with the weapons you own and the way you have built the operator. The official description supports a recommendation based on skills and attributes; it does not name a single best weapon for every situation.
