Repair the first substation, charge the fuse inside it, then carry it to the empty receptacle at the unpowered building.
How to get the Charged Substation Fuse
Start at the powered substation sequence on Paradise Island. You must restore power to the first substation before its charging station can charge the fuse. Walkthroughs from Game8, Patch Crazy and TheGameSlayer agree on the charge-and-transfer objective, though their descriptions of the equipment’s exact position vary.

Repair the first substation
At the repair panel, Game8 describes two options: use Engineering 3 or the Innovative trait, or find a Substation Repair Kit and apply it to the panel. The kit is an alternative, not a required step if you can repair the panel directly.

To reach the kit, Game8 says to enter through a side grate; that route requires Sneak 2 or the Nimble trait. If your character lacks the direct repair options, use the grate route to retrieve the kit, then return to the panel.

Charge and remove the fuse
- Enter the repaired substation and find the fuse charging station. The guides place it near a pair of lockers or to the right after entering; use the room’s landmarks rather than relying on one exact directional description.
- Charge the Substation Fuse at the station.
- Remove the charged fuse so you can carry it to the other building.
Where to use the charged fuse
Take the fuse to the unpowered building and insert it into the empty receptacle there. This completes the transfer step and opens the building, according to the walkthroughs.
What is inside
TheGameSlayer reports that the opened building contains a Corrosive Shock Machine Gun. Treat that as a walkthrough-reported reward rather than a guarantee for every game version.

Is this a real substation fuse?
No. “Charged Substation Fuse” in this context refers to an in-game quest item in The Outer Worlds 2. Real power fuses are electrical equipment used in power systems; for example, the StudyLib-hosted copy of IEEE Std 242-2001 discusses power-fuse application in stations and substations. That technical use does not make the game item a purchasable electrical component.
The game directions cited here come from secondary walkthroughs rather than an official manual. If a game update changes the puzzle, follow the current in-game prompts.
