To get double jump in Hollow Knight: Silksong, climb Mount Fay in Act 2 and claim the Faydown Cloak. At the summit, examine the tuning fork and play the Needolin. Clawline is needed for the intended ascent, and the mountain’s cold damages Hornet over time.
What unlocks double jump?
The Faydown Cloak grants Hornet double jump and protects her from ice damage. It is found at the top of Mount Fay, where examining the summit tuning fork and playing the Needolin triggers the unlock. The ability also opens additional exploration routes, including areas in Memorium, the upper Cogwork Core, and Sands of Karak, and is required for Three Melodies progression, according to Nintendo Life’s guide.
What to do before climbing Mount Fay
- Reach Act 2. Mount Fay is accessed from Choral Chambers through The Slab.
- Get Clawline. It is the intended movement ability for the climb. The route described by the guides leads through Whiteward to the Underworks; access involves the White Key and a locked elevator. A second route described by PC Gamer uses an elevator through the Whispering Vaults.
- Plan for the cold. Cold causes damage over time. Move between warming lamps or fires, which serve as safe zones, and activate benches so you have checkpoints during the ascent.
- Bring Rosaries if you want the map and a bench. Nintendo Life recommends carrying at least 130 Rosaries to cover the map and a 90-Rosary bench. This is a practical preparation tip, not a requirement for unlocking the cloak.

How to reach and climb Mount Fay
- From Choral Chambers, enter The Slab to reach Mount Fay. The guides describe access from the middle-left side of Choral Chambers; players who avoided capture in Act 1 can also reach the prison from the west side and flip a switch.
- Make sure you have Clawline before attempting the intended ascent. If you do not, follow the route through Whiteward to the Underworks, using the White Key to open the relevant elevator, or use the alternate Whispering Vaults elevator route described by PC Gamer.
- Climb through the mountain’s platforming sections, using Clawline and the movement tools available to you. Downward attacks, Swift Step, Cling Grip, and Drifter’s Cloak can help with traversal; Druid’s Eye and Weavelight are optional tools suggested by Nintendo Life.
- Pause at warming lamps or fires to avoid taking continuous cold damage, and use benches as checkpoints.
- At the summit, examine the large tuning fork and play the Needolin. Hornet receives the Faydown Cloak, unlocking double jump.
After you get the Faydown Cloak
Use double jump to reach higher platforms and explore routes that were previously out of reach. The cloak’s protection against ice damage is also useful in icy areas. If the ability is needed for Three Melodies progression, obtaining it completes that requirement.

The walkthrough above follows the intended Act 2 route documented by Nintendo Life and PC Gamer. Those guides do not establish a dependable, reproducible current-version sequence break that bypasses Clawline or the normal route.
