Take the free Deeprun Tram from Stormwind to Ironforge, travel overland through Loch Modan and the Wetlands to Menethil Harbor, then take boats via Auberdine to Rut’theran Village. Use the pink portal in Rut’theran to enter Darnassus. If a mage is available, their Darnassus portal can bypass the trip.
Follow the route from Stormwind to Darnassus
- Ride the Deeprun Tram to Ironforge. In Stormwind, go through the Dwarven District to the tram station and board for Ironforge. The tram is free and connects the two capital cities, according to Blizzard’s WoW Classic transport guide.
- Travel from Ironforge to Menethil Harbor. Leave Ironforge and cross Loch Modan and the Wetlands to reach Menethil Harbor. This is the conventional overland route described in a Blizzard forum discussion. The cited route does not establish that this walk is safe for low-level characters.
- Take the boat from Menethil Harbor to Auberdine. Blizzard’s transport guide lists the Darkshore–Menethil boat connection; Auberdine is the transfer point for the next leg.
- Continue by boat from Auberdine to Rut’theran Village. From Rut’theran, use the pink portal to enter Darnassus. Wowhead’s WoW Classic transportation guide covers the Auberdine–Rut’theran connection and portal.
Can you skip the route?
Yes, if you can find a mage willing to help: a mage can cast Portal: Darnassus, avoiding the tram, overland leg, and boats. This option is convenient, but it depends on another player being available; it is not guaranteed. The Blizzard forum discussion mentions the mage portal as an alternative.
What to expect from the trip
The sources establish the route and connections, but not a precise travel time, boat schedule, or universally safest or fastest option. Blizzard’s transport overview was published for WoW Classic on September 19, 2019; the cited sources do not confirm that every later Classic version or seasonal mode preserves the same routes.
