Both items were rewards from Grow a Garden’s 2025 Zen Event, which ended on August 2, 2025. During the event, players exchanged five Corrupted and five Tranquil crops with the Kitsune NPC for a Kitsune Chest, while Corrupted Zen Crates were possible rewards from Corrupt Channeler quests. The Kitsune Chest is listed as no longer obtainable, and current availability of the Corrupted Zen Crate is not established. Check the live game’s event area before trying either historical method.
How the two event rewards differed
| Reward | Historical route | Requirement or chance | What it offered |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kitsune Chest | Submit crops to the Kitsune NPC between the Zen and Corrupted areas | Five Corrupted crops and five Tranquil crops per chest | Randomized pets and seeds |
| Corrupted Zen Crate | Complete Corrupt Channeler quests | Listed as a 13.04% quest reward chance | Randomized garden cosmetics |
These are different reward routes: the Kitsune Chest required a specific crop turn-in, while the Corrupted Zen Crate was one possible quest reward. The figures describe the 2025 event, according to the community-maintained Zen Event guide.
How players got a Kitsune Chest
- During the Corrupted half of the 2025 Zen Event, go to the Kitsune NPC located between the Zen and Corrupted areas.
- Submit five Corrupted crops and five Tranquil crops.
- Receive a Kitsune Chest and open it for a randomized reward.
The chest’s listed reward odds included Dezen and Maneki-neko at 34.5% each, Lucky Bamboo and Kodama at 14.5% each, and Tranquil Bloom and Corrupted Kitsune at 1% each. These are the listed chances on the Kitsune Chest page; getting a chest did not guarantee Corrupted Kitsune.
How players got a Corrupted Zen Crate
Players completed requests from the Corrupt Channeler during the Corrupted portion of the event. The event guide lists Corrupted Zen Crates at a 13.04% chance in the quest reward table. That was a chance rather than a guaranteed reward; the event guide and the Corrupted Zen Crate page describe the historical route and odds.

When the event ran—and what that means now
The Zen Event ran from July 19 through August 2, 2025; the Corrupted update was dated July 26, 2025, according to the Zen Event page and the community-maintained update log. The update log described Corrupt Zen Aura as a possible hourly substitute for the regular Zen Aura and said corruption progression reset each Zen Event. Those historical mechanics do not establish a schedule or guarantee a rerun.
The Kitsune Chest page says the item is no longer obtainable. The available item and event pages do not establish whether the Corrupted Zen Crate has returned. Because these sources are community-maintained rather than official live-game documentation, check the current in-game event before assuming either route is active. No current rerun or alternate acquisition method is established here.
