How to Get More Ascendancy Points in Path of Exile 2

Complete the Trial of the Sekhemas in Act 2 and the Trial of Chaos in Act 3 for campaign Ascendancy rewards. Check endgame trial item text for later points; specific thresholds are not confirmed by the current reference.

In Path of Exile 2, earn Ascendancy Points by completing Trials of Ascendancy. An unofficial reference based on patch 0.5.5 game files lists eight points in total, awarded in four pairs. The confirmed campaign routes in that reference are the Trial of the Sekhemas in Act 2 and the Trial of Chaos in Act 3. For later points, check the reward text on your trial item: current reference data does not establish which endgame trial levels or lengths award them.

Get the first Ascendancy Points in Act 2

  1. Progress through Act 2 and complete the Ascent to Power quest route.
  2. Use Balbala’s Barya to enter the Trial of the Sekhemas.
  3. Complete the trial, then interact with the Altar of Ascendancy to choose an Ascendancy and receive the reward.

The patch 0.5.5 game-file-based reference identifies this as one of the campaign reward routes. It lists Sekhemas floors with minimum levels of 1, 45, 60, and 75, but does not map later point rewards to a specific floor. ExileDB’s reference is unofficial.

Earn the next pair in Act 3

  1. Complete the Trials of Chaos quest route in Act 3.
  2. Use the quest item, the Chimeral Inscribed Ultimatum, to enter the Trial of Chaos.
  3. Complete the Trialmaster’s challenges to claim the reward.

ExileDB lists the Act 3 Chaos trial at area level 38 with four trials. It also lists later runs as four trials at area levels 1–59, seven at 60–74, and ten at 75 or higher. Those lengths and levels describe trial entries; they do not, by themselves, confirm an Ascendancy Point reward.

How to check for points after the campaign rewards

Once you have completed the two campaign routes, inspect the reward text and requirements on the trial item you own before committing to a run. The current patch 0.5.5 reference explicitly says its game files do not specify which later Sekhemas floor or Chaos area-level band grants the additional rewards. Treat an item’s displayed reward and requirements as your guide, rather than assuming a particular level or room count guarantees points.

An unofficial guide updated July 28, 2026 for Early Access patch 0.5.4 describes later rewards as follows: points five and six from a level 60-or-higher Djinn Barya with three floors or a ten-room Inscribed Ultimatum; points seven and eight from a level 75-or-higher, four-floor Barya plus Zarokh, or a ten-room Ultimatum plus three Fate fragments and the Trialmaster. The newer patch 0.5.5 reference does not confirm this mapping, and the guide marks its in-game verification as pending. Treat those thresholds and requirements as unverified unless the item text or newer official patch notes confirm them. Exile2 Guides is unofficial.

Choose a trial by its actual cost and mechanics

If you have a choice between the Sekhemas and Chaos for a later reward, compare the specific entries available to your character rather than relying on a fixed rule about which trial is easier.

  • Check the item’s displayed reward, entry requirements, and required floors or rooms.
  • Consider how the trial mechanics fit your build. Sekhemas is described by the 0.5.4 guide as Honour-based; Chaos uses Ultimatum-style rooms.
  • Check the entry and failure terms in-game before starting. The 0.5.4 guide says endgame entries are consumed and failed runs lose the item, but the 0.5.5 reference does not confirm those costs.

The guide’s view that Chaos can feel smoother is an editorial opinion, not a universal comparison. Pick based on your build and the current item’s terms.

What is confirmed—and what is not

ExileDB’s patch 0.5.5 reference, based on client build 4.5.5.4, lists eight Ascendancy Points in four rewards of two and identifies the Act 2 and Act 3 campaign routes above. Its later trial lists do not establish the reward mapping. Older official Grinding Gear Games patch notes for 0.2.0f enabled seven-chamber Chaos trials at level 55 and ten-chamber trials at level 65 in that historical patch; those thresholds are not confirmation of current patch 0.5.5 rewards. Grinding Gear Games’ official patch notes are historical context, not a current reward table.
