You can download Rocket League on Steam only if that Steam account owned the game before it went free-to-play. If it is in your Library, install or launch it there. New players cannot claim a Steam copy through Epic Games Support; on PC, the official option for them is the Epic Games Store version.
How to download Rocket League if you already own it on Steam
- Sign in to the Steam account that owned Rocket League before it went free-to-play.
- Open Library and look for Rocket League.
- Select the game to install or launch it.
Psyonix said in its July 21, 2020 free-to-play announcement that the Steam version would no longer be available to download for new players, while existing Steam owners could continue playing it. Read the announcement. Epic Games Support also says eligibility is based on prior Steam ownership and that support cannot grant a Steam entitlement. See Epic’s Steam availability guidance.

What to do if you never owned the Steam version
New PC players should download Rocket League through the Epic Games Store. There is no official process described for adding a new Steam entitlement after the Steam version stopped being available to new players.
Can Steam and Epic players play together?
Yes. Steam and Epic players can play together, and cross-platform play is enabled by default. If you need to check the setting, open Rocket League and go to Settings → Gameplay → Cross-Platform Play. Epic’s cross-play instructions list the supported platforms and setting.

Does linking accounts give you Rocket League on Steam?
No. Linking platform accounts through an Epic Games Account supports cross-platform progression and access to eligible progress or items; it does not establish Steam ownership. Psyonix explains account linking and progression in its cross-platform progression guide. Use the Steam account that already owns the game to access its Steam copy.
What happens to DLC when you switch platforms?
Epic Games Support says Premium DLC is generally shared across linked platforms after you log in on the platform that owns the DLC. Platform-exclusive items and certain Ultimate Edition on-disc DLC are exceptions. Check Epic’s DLC-sharing guidance for the qualifications.

Are Steam keys or account sales an official workaround?
The official guidance establishes prior Steam ownership as the eligibility rule and says Epic Support cannot grant Steam access. It does not establish third-party keys or account sales as supported ways to obtain a Steam copy, so they are not an official workaround.
