To get the Warlock’s Grimoire of Synergy rune in WoW Classic: Season of Discovery, complete the Metamorphosis rune chain, reach level 30, and continue the quest route from Raszel Ander in the Barrens through Ashenvale to Mannoroc Coven in Desolace. You’ll need a Soul Vessel for the final quest, Tempting Fate, which summons a level 40 elite demon.
Prerequisites and recommended level
- Complete the Metamorphosis rune chain; Grimoire of Synergy is a follow-up to that questline.
- Be at least level 30 to start the documented route. The final encounter is against a level 40 elite, and Wowhead recommends level 36 or higher for the end portion.
The guides describe the reward as a separate item, Rune of Synergy. Use that item to learn the Grimoire of Synergy belt rune.
Follow the quest route
1. Start with Raszel Ander in the Barrens
Return to the Warlock camp in the Barrens and speak to Raszel Ander to pick up A Solid Foundation. Warcraft Tavern places the camp around 49.2, 57.2. It also notes that using Metamorphosis may cause Raszel to appear if he is missing.
2. Retrieve the Bough of Shadows in Ashenvale
Follow the quest to Bough Shadow in Ashenvale. Use the invisibility potion provided by Raszel’s quest, then interact with a tree to obtain the Bough of Shadows. Warcraft Tavern gives a nearby location of about 90.3, 40.1; treat coordinates as approximate and use the zone landmark and quest directions.

3. Prepare a Soul Vessel
The vessel requires Engineering 205 to craft, and its schematic is available at Honored reputation with either Azeroth Commerce Authority or Durotar Supply and Logistics. Wowhead lists these materials:
- 4 Shadowgem
- 1 Demonic Figurine
- 1 Black Vitriol
Wowhead reports that a completed Soul Vessel is tradeable, so you may be able to buy one from another player or find one on the Auction House instead of crafting it yourself.

4. Begin Tempting Fate at Mannoroc Coven
Take the Soul Vessel to the altar at Mannoroc Coven in southern Desolace, around 51.2, 82.6, according to Wowhead. Turn in the vessel and accept Tempting Fate at the altar.
5. Defeat Des’Altek and use the rune
The quest summons Des’Altek, a level 40 elite demon. Defeating him completes the quest and awards Rune of Synergy along with the Neverending Soul Vessel. Use Rune of Synergy to learn Grimoire of Synergy. Wowhead describes the Neverending Soul Vessel as reusable: it lets your next cast that would use a Soul Shard avoid consuming one.

What Grimoire of Synergy does
Icy Veins describes the effect as a 5% chance for either the Warlock or their demon to increase the other’s damage by 5% for 15 seconds. Those are the published guide values; they are not independent combat-test results.

Wowhead’s guide, updated April 9, 2024 and labeled Patch 1.15.8 in its search result, says class runes and skill books can be purchased from Rune Brokers in each race’s main city. It also warns that learning a rune from a vendor item may cause related discoveries or quests to fail to function properly. Because vendor stock and quest behavior can change between builds, check current Rune Broker stock and the quest interactions in your version before choosing this route.
