Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTo get the Isle of Armor, buy the Pokémon Sword Expansion Pass if you own Pokémon Sword, or the Pokémon Shield Expansion Pass if you own Pokémon Shield. The passes are version-specific, and each includes both Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra—not just the Isle of Armor.
Choose the Expansion Pass that matches your game
The Pokémon Sword Expansion Pass works with Pokémon Sword, and the Pokémon Shield Expansion Pass works with Pokémon Shield. They are not interchangeable: buying the pass for the other version will not unlock the expansion content. You need the full matching base game. The Pokémon Company International’s How to purchase page says, “You will need to purchase the Expansion Pass that matches the version of the game you own.”
Buy the pass through Nintendo eShop or redeem a code
- Check your game version. Confirm whether you own Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield so you select the matching pass.
- Update the game. Make sure your game is updated before using its in-game purchase option.
- Open the game menu and select Expansion Pass. This takes you to Nintendo eShop, where you can purchase the pass for your version. Nintendo Support also documents this route in its Expansion Pass purchase instructions.
- Alternatively, redeem a retailer code. If you bought a download card or code, redeem it in Nintendo eShop and make sure it corresponds to your base game.
- Start the expansion in-game. Continue the base-game story until you have reached the Wild Area; then go to the station encounter that leads to the Isle of Armor.
What the Expansion Pass includes
The Expansion Pass covers two areas: the Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra. The official Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield Expansion Pass page describes the Isle of Armor’s island environments, new Pokémon and characters, and the dojo run by Mustard. There is no Isle of Armor-only pass described on the official purchase page.
If you do not own Pokémon Sword or Shield
The official Pokémon purchase page also describes physical bundles pairing Pokémon Sword with its matching Expansion Pass or Pokémon Shield with its matching Expansion Pass. The included software is preloaded on one game card. Check the retailer’s current price, stock, and regional compatibility before buying; those details can vary and are not established by the official product description.
