To get the Warlock Pandemic Rune through its discovery route, collect two items in Feralas, combine them into a Diseased Nature Staff, use the staff on a Diseased Forest Walker, then defeat and loot the awakened creature. You can also reportedly buy class runes from Rune Brokers, but that shortcut may interfere with related discoveries or quests.
Get the Grimtotem Necklace
- Travel to the Grimtotem camp in Feralas and find the Dead Diseased Grimtotem Shaman near coordinates 69.6, 43.3.
- Loot the nearby Grimtotem Chest to obtain the Grimtotem Necklace. These coordinates are reported by Wowhead’s guide and may vary with game updates: Wowhead’s Pandemic Rune guide.
Get the Broken Woodpaw Staff
- Approach the Woodpaw camp using the ramp near 63.3, 50.1.
- Pass the Woodpaw Den cave entrance without going inside. Follow the camp’s edge east and then north to a ledge near 66.4, 50.8.
- Find the Dead Diseased Woodpaw Mystic and loot the nearby Woodpaw Bag for the Broken Woodpaw Staff. The route and coordinates come from Wowhead’s guide and may change with the live game.
Awaken the Diseased Forest Walker
- Combine the Grimtotem Necklace and Broken Woodpaw Staff to create a Diseased Nature Staff.
- Find a Diseased Forest Walker near 72.6, 50.8 and use the staff on it to awaken it.
- Defeat the awakened Walker, then loot it for the Rune of Pandemic. Wowhead describes the creature as level 43–44 and non-Elite; its location and behavior are subject to change.
Consider the Rune Broker shortcut
Wowhead’s Warlock rune guide says class runes and class skill books can be purchased from Rune Brokers in each race’s main city. The same guide cautions that learning a related rune from a vendor item may prevent related discoveries or quests from working properly. If you want to complete the Feralas discovery or have a related objective, do that before using the shortcut: Wowhead’s Warlock Runes guide.

Warcraft Tavern reports that by Phase 6 Rune Brokers sold runes and skill books for 1 copper. That is the page’s Phase 6 report, not confirmation of the current in-game price: Warcraft Tavern’s Pandemic Rune guide. The available guides do not establish different rune effects depending on which acquisition method you use.
