You can get The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered for free on PC if you already own The Witcher 3 on GOG, Steam, or the Epic Games Store: CD PROJEKT RED released it as a free upgrade on September 29, 2026. If you do not own the game, that upgrade does not give you a new license; the publisher directs non-owners to buy it. You can also check official storefront promotions, but no current giveaway is established here.
If you already own The Witcher 3 on PC
Open the library of the storefront where you own the game and check for the Remastered upgrade or an available game update. CD PROJEKT RED lists GOG, Steam, and Epic Games Store as eligible PC platforms. The publisher describes the release as a free upgrade for owners, not a separate free game for everyone. The upgrade also includes the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions, including for players who previously owned only the base game, according to the official Witcher website. Check the storefront where you own the game for its current installation and update options; exact interface labels can change.
If you do not own the game
The free upgrade is not a way to claim a first copy of The Witcher 3. CD PROJEKT RED directs people who do not own it to buy the game. Store prices and sales change, so check the official PC storefronts for current purchase offers rather than relying on an outdated price.

You can also check the Epic Games Store Free Games page for changing promotions. Epic’s support guidance identifies that page as the place to find its free games; it does not establish that The Witcher 3 is currently being given away. A promotion, if one appears, may be time-limited and should be confirmed on the official store page.
Installing from GOG without Galaxy
If you own the GOG edition, GOG says Galaxy is optional and provides a full offline installer. That lets you install and play without using the Galaxy client. GOG describes its games as DRM-free; this detail applies to the GOG version and should not be assumed for copies from Steam or Epic. See GOG’s game listing for its current installer and product details.
