In Dying Light: The Beast, the church climb takes place during The Beast Within, after you investigate the explosion site near the bridge in Old Town. The main doors are locked, so enter through the basement, sneak past the sleepers, then cross the church interior using its ledges, chandeliers and a rope to reach the roof.

Reach the church in The Beast Within

After investigating the military vehicle explosion site near the bridge and inspecting the soldiers’ bodies, follow the mission objective to the nearby church in Old Town. The main entrance doors will not open.

Enter through the basement

  1. Go to the stairs at the far end of the church and descend to the smashed iron basement door.
  2. Squeeze through the opening beside the smashed door.
  3. Stay crouched and use Survivor Sense to locate the sleepers. Move carefully past them, watching for infected that wander through the room.
  4. Head to the far-right corner, climb onto the small platform, then move the planks blocking the way into the main church area.

Start the climb after the Beast escapes

The Beast escapes through the church roof, and the noise wakes the sleepers below. You can fight the infected or begin climbing. Some can climb after you, so the walls are not a safe zone; however, the route can limit how many attack at once, and kicking enemies from platforms can create room to move.

  1. Follow the wall ledges, jumping between pillars until you reach the wooden platform at the end of the building.
  2. Kick down the folding ladder on the platform. It gives you a restart point if you fall.

Cross the church interior

  1. Jump from the platform to the first chandelier, then across to the second.
  2. Leap from the second chandelier to the rope. Swing toward the rocky outcrop above the altar, carrying your momentum through rather than waiting on the rope; losing momentum can leave you short.
  3. From the outcrop, jump to the wooden ledge across the fountain. When facing the chandeliers, the ledge is on your left.
  4. Deal with the one or two infected on the ledge, then climb the wooden beam.

Exit through the window and follow the trail

At the end of the beam, jump across the room through the open window directly in front of you to reach the rooftop. Use Survivor Sense to track the Beast’s trail, then continue into the train tunnel and follow the yellow glow sticks.
