You can gift an eligible cosmetic that is currently for sale in Fortnite’s Item Shop, but you cannot send a skin already in your locker—and Fortnite gifts are non-refundable. Before buying, check Epic’s account requirements, recipient ownership, and the price shown for that specific friend.
How to Gift Fortnite Skins
Fortnite gifting lets you buy an eligible Item Shop offer with V-Bucks or real money when the offer permits it, then send it to a friend. The item has to be available in the shop when you make the purchase; gifting does not reserve an item that may appear later.

Check the account requirements
- Enable two-factor authentication on the sending Epic account.
- The sender must be at least level 2.
- The recipient must have been on the sender’s Friends list for at least two days.
- The sender can send no more than five gifts in a 24-hour period.
- The recipient must log in to receive the gift.
Epic lists gifting availability on Android, PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox. Rules and availability can change; check Epic’s Fortnite gifting guidance for the current details.

The recipient cannot already own the item. Bundles can also be unavailable as a gift if the recipient owns part of the bundle. The gift price shown may reflect what that recipient already owns, so it can differ from the price or discount shown for your own account. Review the recipient-specific amount before confirming.

Some offers cannot be gifted. Epic’s exclusions include V-Bucks, Battle Pass levels, items not currently in the Item Shop, some real-money offers, Fortnite Crew, Event Passes, and some dynamically priced bundles. Availability depends on the offer and Epic’s current rules.
Buy the gift in Fortnite
- Open Fortnite and go to the Item Shop.
- Select an eligible item or bundle that is currently offered.
- Choose the gift option, select the intended friend, and review the price displayed for that recipient.
- Confirm the purchase only if the recipient and item are correct.
Check the in-game prompts as labels and interface details may vary. Epic’s instructions and restrictions are on its gift-support page.

Can I Gift a Skin I Already Own?
No. Fortnite has no option to gift or trade a cosmetic already in your locker. Cosmetics stay on the Epic account where they were bought, earned, or claimed; Epic does not support transferring them to another account. To give someone a skin, you must buy an eligible skin from the current Item Shop as a gift. See Epic’s guidance on gifting skins and its account-transfer policy.
What You Need to Know About Refunds
Refund rules depend on whether you bought the item for someone else or for yourself. A Fortnite gift is not refundable; certain eligible Item Shop purchases you made for your own account may qualify for a self-service return.

If you bought the wrong gift
Epic says, “All gifts are non-refundable.” Its Item Shop guidance also excludes gifted purchases from Cancel Purchase and Return Tickets. If a payment reversal causes the recipient’s gifted item to be removed, Epic says support cannot restore it. Do not assume that contacting support will turn a gift into a refundable purchase. Read Epic’s gift-refund policy.
If you bought the wrong item for yourself
Epic’s self-service options apply to certain V-Bucks purchases made for your own account, not gifts. Use Fortnite’s current Item Shop return flow to check eligibility.

- Cancel Purchase: Available for 24 hours after purchase if you have not used or equipped the item. The item is removed and the V-Bucks are returned.
- Return Ticket: May be used for an eligible purchase made within the last 30 days, provided you have a ticket. Returned items are removed and the V-Bucks are returned. A bundle must be returned as a whole.
Epic says each account starts with three Return Tickets, earns one every 365 days, and can hold no more than three. Passes, gifts, and other categories listed by Epic are excluded; support cannot add more tickets. Check Epic’s current Item Shop refund instructions for the eligibility details and return flow.

For a real-money purchase made through a third party, Epic directs customers to that platform’s refund process. Epic’s terms also say third-party transactions are governed by the third party’s policies. Start with the platform or seller that charged you; see Epic’s terms of service.

Do not confuse Fortnite gifts with Epic Games Store game gifts
Epic Games Store has a separate policy for gifted games: an unclaimed or rejected game gift expires after 14 days and is automatically refunded. That policy is for game gifts, not Fortnite Item Shop cosmetics. Fortnite’s own gifting policy says cosmetic gifts are non-refundable. See Epic Games Store’s game-gifting policy.

- Verify the recipient’s Epic display name and confirm they have been on your Friends list for at least two days.
- Check that two-factor authentication is enabled and that the sending account meets the level requirement.
- Confirm the exact cosmetic is in the current Item Shop and that the recipient does not already own it. For a bundle, check whether they own any included items.
- Review the gift price shown for that recipient; it can differ from your own price.
- Make the purchase only if you are comfortable treating it as final.
Is a V-Bucks Gift Card an Alternative?
A Fortnite V-Bucks gift card can provide account credit, but it does not send a chosen skin and is not the same as gifting V-Bucks through Fortnite. Epic’s card terms cover physical and virtual cards that add account credits; they also describe territory-specific redemption restrictions and note that card purchases may not be refundable. Before buying one, check the current terms for the recipient’s country and account, device compatibility, and the retailer’s refund policy.
