To give your child permission on Epic Games, enter your parent or guardian email when prompted on your child’s account, then open Epic’s consent email and complete the steps in the browser. You’ll review Epic’s Terms of Service, choose parental limits, verify that you’re an adult using an available regional method, and confirm that the permissions were applied.
Complete Epic’s parental consent flow
- Enter your email on your child’s account. When Epic asks for a parent or guardian email, enter the address you want to use. Epic sends a consent request with the subject line “ [Action Requested] Your Child’s Epic Games Account.” Remove the extra space before the opening bracket in your email search if needed.
- Open the email and select Continue. Follow the link in the message to continue in a browser.
- Review the Terms of Service. Accept them to proceed to the parental-control setup.
- Choose the offered limits. Configure the available options for chat, content-rating access, and connections according to your preferences.
- Verify adult status. Epic may offer a face scan, credit or debit card, or ID scan. Options vary by region, so use a method shown in your consent flow rather than expecting every option to be available.
- Finish setup and check the result. If your child previously played using only a console account, Epic may ask you to create login credentials. Confirm that parental permissions have been applied.

If the consent email is missing or went to the wrong address
If consent is not complete, change the guardian email in your child’s account settings. Epic says updating it resends the consent request to the new address. Check that the address was entered correctly, then search your inbox for “[Action Requested] Your Child’s Epic Games Account.”

If consent is already complete and you need to change the guardian email, the next step depends on whether you can still access the existing mailbox. If you can, use Epic’s parent or guardian support intake. If you cannot access it, try to recover the mailbox first. If recovery is not possible, sign in to your child’s account and submit a support request.

What permission changes for a Cabined Account
Epic calls an account a Cabined Account when its player is under 13 or under the age of digital consent in their country, whichever age is higher. While consent is pending, some features can be restricted. Depending on the account and region, these can include voice or free-text communication, real-money purchases, downloading games not owned by Epic, recommendations, marketing messages, Rocket League trades, linking accounts through Sign in with Epic, custom display names, and SMS-based two-factor authentication. Epic’s Cabined Accounts FAQ describes the restrictions and qualifications.
Pending consent does not necessarily prevent your child from playing: Epic says children can still play Epic-owned games and access content they previously purchased or earned, although some features remain unavailable.

Epic also says a Cabined Account can add a Fortnite gift card to its Epic account balance. That balance can be used for purchases in Epic’s games, but not for Fortnite Crew subscriptions. This does not grant permission to use other payment methods or unlock otherwise restricted features.

- Sign in to your child’s Epic account.
- Open Parental Controls.
- Create a six-digit PIN, then select the preferences you want.
If your child mainly plays on a console, check that the Account ID shown on the Epic website matches the Account ID shown in the game. See Epic’s parental-control setup instructions.
