Put the Egg in your party and walk around in the game; riding your Bicycle also counts the steps needed to hatch it. For a faster hatch, keep a Pokémon with Flame Body or Magma Armor in your party. In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, a Secret Pal can also use “Take care of an Egg” to reduce its current Egg cycles.
How to hatch an Egg

Put the Egg in your party. It must be carried with you for its hatch cycles to advance.

Walk around in the overworld, or ride your Bicycle to cover steps faster. Waiting for real-world or in-game clock time to pass does not hatch the Egg by itself.

Check the Egg’s summary to see its progress. The Generation VI message “Sounds can be heard coming from inside! This Egg will hatch soon!” means it is close.

Ways to make an Egg hatch faster

In Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, a Secret Pal using “Take care of an Egg” reduces the Egg’s current cycle count by half its base Egg cycles, rounded up. |
How long does hatching take?
It depends on the Egg’s species, so there is no single step total that applies to every Egg. In Generation III and IV mechanics, including Alpha Sapphire’s Generation VI context, the game checks an Egg’s cycle count at the end of a cycle. That check can mean an additional cycle is needed after the stored count reaches zero.

Does the Oval Charm help hatch Eggs?
No. The Oval Charm increases the likelihood of the Day Care producing or finding an Egg. It does not reduce hatch cycles or make an Egg hatch faster.
