Do not disable experience gains: that stops character progression rather than merely hiding the display. If the bar is missing unexpectedly, check Edit Mode, addons, XP settings, and tracked reputation or honor bars.
Hide the bar without stopping experience gains
The default UI and any installed interface addons are the first places to check. A recent Blizzard forum reply says addons can hide the experience bar and suggests looking for it in Esc > Edit Mode; the bar normally appears below the quickbars in the default UI. This is forum guidance, not a formal Blizzard support procedure. Blizzard forum discussion.

- Check your addon settings. If you use a UI or bar-management addon, open its configuration and look for experience-bar visibility or placement controls. You can temporarily disable the addon to see whether the default UI restores the bar.
- Inspect Edit Mode. Press Esc, choose Edit Mode, and look for the experience bar. If present, adjust its visibility or placement using the available controls for your client.
- Consider a dedicated addon. The third-party listing for Hide XP Bar (Permanent) describes hiding the Blizzard Experience/Reputation bar and listed Retail compatibility with version 11.2.7, released October 21, 2025. That listing is version-specific; check its current compatibility with your exact client before installing it. It does not establish compatibility with later builds or Classic. Hide XP Bar (Permanent) listing.
These approaches change what is displayed. They are not evidence that XP gains have stopped.

If the experience bar disappeared unexpectedly
Check whether XP gains are disabled
Blizzard support says the experience bar may disappear when experience gains are disabled. Its support guidance points players to the Experience Eliminator toggle; the associated forum discussion directs players to Blizzard’s instructions for turning gains on or off. Blizzard forum discussion. The accessible support article is in French and names Behsten in Stormwind and Slahtz in Orgrimmar for turning experience off. Because the exact current steps may differ by game mode or version, check the instructions for the client you play rather than assuming one universal sequence. Blizzard support article.

Check other tracked bars
The same Blizzard support article explains that the experience bar can share space with reputation, honor, and artifact power bars, and says only two relevant bars can be active at once. If another tracked bar is occupying the available space, turn off its tracking using the in-game controls described in the support article and see whether the experience bar returns.
Reset the interface only as a last resort
If you have checked addons, XP settings, tracked bars, and Edit Mode without resolving the problem, Blizzard support lists resetting the UI as a final troubleshooting step. A reset can remove customized interface settings, so use Blizzard’s current reset instructions for your client before proceeding. Blizzard support article.

| What you want | What to try | Effect on XP |
|---|---|---|
| Hide the bar but keep earning XP | Adjust your UI addon or use a hide-bar addon compatible with your client. | Visibility changes; the cited addon listing describes hiding the bar, not disabling XP gains. |
| Find a bar that went missing | Check Edit Mode, addon settings, XP-gain settings, and other tracked bars. | Depends on the cause; disabling XP gains can make the bar disappear. |
| Stop leveling | Use the Experience Eliminator guidance applicable to your game mode and version. | XP gains are disabled; this is a progression change, not a display-only setting. |
