To host DarkRPG on Minecraft 1.19.3, download the separate DarkRPG 6.5.2 Server Pack.zip for Fabric (released June 28, 2023), run it with a 64-bit Java 17 installation and Fabric’s executable server launcher, then make every player install the identical DarkRPG release through the CurseForge app. The server pack—not a client export—is the correct starting point.

What you need before installing DarkRPG
The correct server artifact
Open the official DarkRPG project’s Minecraft 1.19.3 files and choose DarkRPG 6.5.2 Server Pack.zip. CurseForge lists that server pack with a June 28, 2023 release date; version 6.5.1 is listed from June 24, 2023. Use one release consistently: do not combine the 6.5.2 configuration with 6.5.1 mods, or copy files from an unrelated Minecraft version.
A server pack is different from a client profile. It contains the files needed to run the dedicated server, including the pack’s mods, config, scripts and other distribution files. Downloading a client export and trying to turn it into a server can leave out server libraries, include client-only graphics files or produce loader errors.

Java 17, 64-bit
Fabric’s documentation recommends Java 17 for Minecraft 1.17 through 1.20.4, which includes 1.19.3. Install a 64-bit Java 17 runtime on the computer or host that will run the server. Before doing anything else, open a terminal or command prompt in that environment and run:
java -versionConfirm that the reported major version is 17 and that the executable is the one your host will use. A machine can have several Java installations; checking the version in the same account and panel used to launch Minecraft avoids the common situation where Java 8 or Java 21 is selected accidentally.
Memory and capacity expectations
The DarkRPG project’s current guidance recommends 6–8 GB of RAM for the CurseForge client. That figure is a client recommendation, not a measured dedicated-server requirement. No authoritative published test establishes a guaranteed player count, TPS result, latency figure or RAM allocation for DarkRPG 6.5.2 on Fabric 1.19.3. Treat the initial heap setting as a starting point, watch actual usage and leave memory for the operating system and other services.
DarkRPG advertises more than 1,800 quests in its project metadata, so the pack can contain substantially more content than a small vanilla installation. The amount of RAM and CPU time required will vary with player count, exploration, chunk generation, view distance and the server’s configuration. Increase resources only when monitoring shows that the current allocation is a bottleneck.
A dedicated directory
Create a new directory used only by this DarkRPG instance. A typical layout after extraction includes folders such as mods and config, along with the Fabric launcher or files supplied by the host. Keeping the instance separate prevents an older world, another modpack’s libraries or a different loader from being picked up by mistake.
Choose where to run the server
The same Fabric files can be run on a home computer, a self-managed VPS or a managed Minecraft host. The differences are operational rather than modpack-specific.

For any option, compare the location of the machine with the location of your players. A nearby region generally reduces network delay, but no source provides a tested latency or performance figure for this exact DarkRPG release. Current prices, player slots, storage limits and regional availability also vary by provider and must be checked at the time you order.
Using a managed host
The DarkRPG project specifically promotes BisectHosting: its project page says the pack is pre-installed there, and its setup guidance says BisectHosting users can install the latest DarkRPG Fabric version from the host’s CurseForge modpack menu. Select Fabric, not Forge, and verify that the panel is deploying Minecraft 1.19.3 with Java 17. If the menu offers only a newer DarkRPG build, use the provider’s file manager or upload function to place the matching 6.5.2 server pack instead of silently switching versions.
Do not assume that a one-click installer has the same files as the official server archive. Compare the installed mods, config and scripts with the 6.5.2 server pack, and keep a downloadable backup before changing anything.
Install DarkRPG 6.5.2 on a local machine or VPS
1. Download and extract the server pack
- Download DarkRPG 6.5.2 Server Pack.zip for Minecraft 1.19.3 Fabric from the DarkRPG project’s CurseForge files.
- Create the empty, dedicated server directory you prepared earlier.
- Extract the archive directly into that directory. Check that
mods,configand the other pack files are at the top level, not inside a second folder such asDarkRPG 6.5.2 Server Pack/DarkRPG 6.5.2 Server Pack/. - Do not merge this extraction with another DarkRPG version or another modpack. If you already have a world, copy it somewhere safe before replacing files.
2. Provide the Fabric server launcher
If the archive already contains a working launcher, use that launcher. If your host reports that no usable launcher is present, obtain the Fabric server launcher configured for Minecraft 1.19.3. Fabric describes this launcher as an executable JAR that downloads missing Fabric Loader and Minecraft files before starting the server.
On a VPS, the launcher is normally placed in the same directory as server.properties, the server JAR and the pack folders. A remote deployment should include the complete libraries directory as well; omitting it can cause class-loading or dependency failures on the first start.
3. Start the server for the first time
From the server directory, run the generated Fabric command. The documented form is:

java -Xmx2G -jar <fabric server launcher jar file name> noguiReplace the filename with the actual launcher JAR in your directory. -Xmx2G sets the maximum Java heap to 2 GB for that process; it is an example starting value, not a DarkRPG benchmark or a promise that the full pack will run well with 2 GB. Change it only after checking total machine memory and observing the server under real use. Leave enough RAM for the operating system and, on a VPS, monitoring or backup processes.
Running with nogui avoids the graphical server window and is usually preferable on a remote machine. Keep the terminal output visible for the first launch so you can see which files Fabric downloads and whether a mod or dependency stops startup.

The first successful startup normally creates eula.txt and stops until the EULA is accepted. Open that file, read the linked Minecraft EULA, change the setting to eula=true only if you agree to it, save the file and run the same launch command again. This is standard Minecraft server behavior; DarkRPG does not publish a separate EULA procedure.
5. Configure server.properties
After the first run creates the configuration, open server.properties and set the values appropriate for your group:
- server-port: the TCP port clients will use. If you change it, open the same port in the VPS or home-router firewall.
- difficulty: the desired game difficulty.
- view-distance: how many chunks the server sends around each player. Lowering it can reduce CPU, memory and bandwidth pressure; raise it only after testing.
- online-mode and access controls: keep authentication and whitelist settings aligned with how you intend to admit players.
- motd and other presentation settings: optional text and behavior that do not change the modpack files.
Stop the server cleanly before editing properties, then restart it to apply changes. Make a backup of server.properties, the world directory, config and mods before every pack update.
6. Test a local connection
Read the console until Fabric reports that the server is ready. Connect from the same machine with the configured address and port, then test from a second network if the server will be public. Join with a fresh player profile before inviting everyone so you can catch a missing mod, incorrect port forwarding rule or authentication problem without risking the main world.

Deploying the files to a remote host
Fabric’s manual server guidance identifies the launcher, server.properties, server.jar and the complete libraries directory as the important pieces of a remote deployment. Upload the extracted DarkRPG server-pack files through SFTP, the host’s file manager or its archive upload tool, then point the startup command at the Fabric launcher rather than a Forge executable.
- Create a new Fabric 1.19.3 instance in the host panel, or create an empty directory if the provider gives you shell access.
- Select Java 17 in the runtime selector. If the panel does not expose a selector, run
java -versionthrough its console or startup log and ask the provider to change the runtime. - Upload the server pack and preserve its directory structure. Include the launcher and
librariesdirectory where the host requires them. - Set the startup command to the Fabric JAR with
noguiand an appropriate-Xmxvalue. - Accept the EULA, configure the port and access policy, then restart and inspect the complete log.
Some Minecraft-specific hosts can use the Fabric launcher as a drop-in replacement. If a panel insists on a Forge type, stop and change the server type instead of renaming files: Fabric mods and Forge loaders are not interchangeable.
Make every client match the server
DarkRPG’s project instructions state: Installation is to be done via the CurseForge app only. Other launchers are not supported.
Have each player install the DarkRPG client through the CurseForge app, then select Minecraft 1.19.3 and the same DarkRPG release used by the server. In this case, that means matching the 6.5.2 pack rather than allowing an automatic update to a different release.
A connection can fail even when the Minecraft version appears correct. The following must agree:
- Minecraft version: 1.19.3.
- Fabric loader version selected by the pack.
- DarkRPG release and mod list.
- Relevant configuration files, especially when a server administrator has changed a mod’s settings.
Ask players to close Minecraft completely after changing profiles so the launcher does not retain old libraries. A client crash report or server log usually names the first mod or packet that disagrees; fix that named mismatch rather than removing random files.

The server exits immediately
- Run
java -versionfrom the launch environment and confirm Java 17, 64-bit. - Confirm that the command names the Fabric launcher, not a Forge JAR or a stale launcher from another instance.
- Check that extraction did not create an extra nested directory. The launcher and the top-level
modsandconfigfolders should be in the directory the startup command uses. - Read the newest log from the first error downward. Missing dependencies, an invalid loader and a Java class-version error require different fixes.
- Check that the heap value is realistic for the machine. A host can kill a process that exceeds its plan or physical memory before Java prints a useful message.
A dependency or Fabric API error appears
Fabric notes that most mods require Fabric API. First compare the server pack with its official contents: the required dependency may already be included under mods. If it is not, use the dependency and version specified for that DarkRPG release; do not download an arbitrary newer file. A missing or incompatible dependency should be corrected by adding the exact required file or restoring the pack, not by deleting several mods until startup happens.

Players see a mod-list or channel mismatch
Compare the client and server against the same 6.5.2 profile. Verify Minecraft 1.19.3, Fabric loader, every server-side and required client-side mod, and any configuration that changes networking. Reinstalling the official CurseForge profile is often safer than manually dragging files between profiles.
A client-only visual or interface mod was copied to the server
Do not copy shaders, visual enhancements or interface-only mods into a dedicated server unless the official server distribution includes them. Conversely, do not remove files from the server pack blindly: some libraries have no visible game feature but are required at launch. Compare the pack contents and the log before changing the mods directory.

Players cannot reach a running server
- Confirm the server is listening on the port in
server.properties. - Open that port in the host firewall and, for a home server, forward it from the router to the correct local machine.
- Give players the correct public address and port; a private LAN address will not work from the internet.
- Test locally first, then from outside the home network. If local access works but external access fails, the problem is network routing or firewall policy rather than DarkRPG.
The world becomes unstable after a change
Stop the server, restore the last known-good backup of the world and pack files, and test the change on a copy. Keep dated backups of the world, config, mods, server.properties and the launch command. Never upgrade the pack while players are connected, and do not overwrite the only copy of a working instance.
Operating the server safely
Backups
Back up the world while the server is stopped or after using a reliable save procedure, and retain copies away from the server machine. Include configuration and mod files so a recovery restores the exact environment, not merely the terrain. Test opening a backup periodically; a backup that has never been restored is only an assumption.
Updates
Record the current Minecraft version, Fabric loader, DarkRPG release and Java version. When a new pack is considered, copy the entire instance to a staging directory, update that copy, let it generate or migrate a test world and inspect the log before scheduling production downtime. Keep the 6.5.2 directory intact until the replacement has been verified.
Monitoring
Watch CPU, memory, disk space and the server log while several players explore and generate new chunks. Because no tested capacity or TPS guarantee is published for this pack, use those observations to choose view distance, heap size and a realistic player limit. A steadily growing heap, repeated tick-time warnings or an operating system out-of-memory event is evidence to reduce load or add resources; it is not proof that a particular number of gigabytes will work for every group.
