Record a deployment note
Before installing, record the Minecraft version, loader name and version, pack version, Java runtime selected, allocated heap, server address, and the date of your last backup. For a Forge build, run the Forge installer for the exact version and select Install server. Do not install a merely similar Forge version: loader mismatches can stop the process before a world is loaded.
3. Copy server-safe content
Technic’s documented Forge procedure is to copy the client pack’s mods, config, and any mod asset folders (for example, a flans folder when present) into the server directory. Remove client-only mods and their corresponding configuration folders. A client-only graphics, menu, replay, or input mod has no place in a dedicated server and can cause an immediate crash.

4. Create a launch script
Technic gives java -Xmx4G forge.jar nogui as an example Forge launch command. Replace forge.jar with the filename generated by your installer and change the heap value to match your plan. Keep the command in a Windows .bat file or a Linux/macOS .sh file so the same options are used after every restart.
For Fabric or NeoForge, use the launcher and arguments supplied with the selected server pack or loader documentation. Do not rename a Fabric launcher to forge.jar or assume that a Forge command will start another loader.
5. Accept the EULA and start again
- Run the launch script once. The first run normally creates the server files and an

7. Expose the server to players outside your home network
Players on the same Wi-Fi can usually connect to the host’s local address. Players elsewhere need either router port forwarding or a port-tunneling service. For forwarding, give the host computer a stable local address, create a router rule that sends the Minecraft port to that address, allow the Java/server process through the operating-system firewall, and test from a network that is not your home Wi-Fi. If your internet provider uses carrier-grade NAT or blocks inbound connections, a tunnel may be easier than forwarding.

Forward only the port the server uses, keep the firewall rule narrow, and change neither the port nor the router rule while players are online. A tunnel provider handles the inbound path but adds another service and account to maintain.
8. Back up before every change
Stop the server and copy the world directory, configuration files, mods list, and server.properties before changing Minecraft versions, loaders, or major mod versions. The console is ready, but outside players time out
Test from outside the host’s home network. Verify the server’s configured port, the router’s forwarding destination, the host’s local address, and the operating-system firewall. If local players can join but remote players cannot, the problem is usually the forwarding path, an address change, carrier-grade NAT, or a tunnel that is not running.
The server lags after exploration or automation grows
