To play Elden Ring Seamless Co-op, every player needs their own Steam copy of the PC game, matching game and mod versions, and the same session password. Install the mod from its Nexus page, configure ersc_settings.ini, then launch ersc_launcher.exe. The host uses Tiny Great Pot to open a session; other players join with Effigy of Malenia.
The Nexus listing shows Seamless Co-op version 1.9.9, updated April 21, 2026. Game updates can break mods, so check the current Nexus release and compatibility notes immediately before installing.

Before you install
- Each participant needs an individual Steam copy of Elden Ring. The installation guide recommends manual installation from Nexus; a mod manager is not required for the basic setup. See the official installation and update guide.
- All players must use the same game version and the same Seamless Co-op version. The mod author explicitly requires both to match.
- Check the current Nexus compatibility notes first. Version 1.9.9 is the release listed as updated April 21, 2026, but the material available does not establish which current game patch it supports.
- Choose a session password to share privately with your group. The mod author advises using a secure password: anyone who knows it may be able to join.
Seamless Co-op is a PC mod, not a console feature. Console editions are not usable with this mod.
Install Seamless Co-op
- Open the Seamless Co-op Nexus page and download the current release using the manual download option.
- In Steam, open Elden Ring’s installation directory, then open its
Gamefolder. Follow the current official guide for the exact files and placement instructions, especially if updating or replacing an older installation. - Extract and place the downloaded mod files as directed in the guide.
- Open
ersc_settings.iniand set the session password. Give the same password to each player who should join. - Run
ersc_launcher.exeto start the mod. For its documented Windows check, the guide says that the absence of the Easy Anti-Cheat splash screen indicates the mod loaded.
There is no established compatible game patch number to cite here; do not assume a previously working installation remains compatible after a game update. FromSoftware updates can break mods until they are updated.

Host a session and join friends
- Make sure every player is signed in to Steam in online mode and has launched through the Seamless Co-op launcher.
- Have the host use Tiny Great Pot to open the session.
- Have each joining player use Effigy of Malenia and enter the shared session password when prompted.
- To leave, use Separation Mist. If the host uses it, the session is disbanded.
The mod author describes Seamless Co-op as allowing a party to progress through areas and bosses without the usual return-to-own-world interruptions after a boss or death. The author also says the group can use Torrent together, synchronize waypoints and NPC dialogue, and explore the overworld, underground areas, and legacy dungeons. These are the mod author’s descriptions, not a guarantee that every route or session will be bug-free.
The Nexus listing states that an open-world session can include the host and up to five other players. That capacity is the author’s stated limit; it should not be read as an independently verified performance guarantee.

How Seamless Co-op differs from ordinary co-op
Seamless Co-op is aimed at groups who want to stay together for more of the game rather than treating multiplayer as a series of temporary visits. Its author describes progression across areas and bosses, shared Torrent use, and synchronized waypoints and dialogue. This guide does not establish a full, independently verified comparison with every standard co-op rule, so check the game’s current multiplayer behavior if a specific vanilla restriction matters to your group.
That continuity comes with important trade-offs: the mod requires every player to install and keep compatible versions, its compatibility with other mods is not guaranteed, and it uses a separate save format that must not be treated as interchangeable with a vanilla save.

Saves and ban-risk warning
Seamless Co-op creates its own save format, separate from Elden Ring’s normal .sl2 save. The mod author says Seamless saves cannot be opened in the base game and warns that converting a mod save into a vanilla save may lead to a ban. Keep mod and vanilla progress separate; do not convert a Seamless save for use in the base game.
Fix common installation and connection problems
Friends cannot see or join the session
- Confirm that everyone has the same Elden Ring version and Seamless Co-op version.
- Check that every player is signed in to Steam in online mode.
- Verify that the host used Tiny Great Pot, joiners used Effigy of Malenia, and everyone entered the same password.
- If the game updated recently, check the Nexus page for a compatible mod release and follow the installation steps again when updating.
“Inappropriate Activity Detected” appears at launch
The installation guide says this can mean the mod failed to load. It notes that antivirus software may falsely block the mod’s hook; this is one possible cause, not a universal explanation. Check the installation against the official guide and review security software’s quarantine or blocking history.

The game crashes or the mod does not load reliably
The official FAQ and troubleshooting guidance recommends testing the latest Seamless Co-op version by itself after a game update. For crashes, the documented checks include verifying Elden Ring’s files through Steam, turning off ray tracing, and testing without other mods. Overlays and tuning utilities can also interfere with hooks.
Compatibility with other mods is not guaranteed. The mod author advises avoiding mods that interfere with multiplayer or modify items Seamless Co-op uses.
