There is no Xbox disc edition of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. SEGA lists Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One as digital-only, so an Xbox owner must buy or redeem the game through the Microsoft Store, or install it from the Xbox library of the account that owns it. After installation, apply the newest update before using online modes such as World Match or accessing downloadable content. SEGA’s October 8, 2026 notice lists Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One at version 1.4.3.
What the Xbox release includes
SEGA’s official format listing separates Xbox from the other console versions. Physical and digital editions are listed for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One are listed as digital-only.

| Platform | Formats listed by SEGA | What that means for installation |
|---|---|---|
| Xbox Series X|S | Digital only | Use the Microsoft Store or the Xbox library of the purchasing account. |
| Xbox One | Digital only | Use the Microsoft Store or the Xbox library of the purchasing account. |
| PlayStation 5 | Physical and digital | Use the appropriate PlayStation disc or digital download. |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | Physical and digital | Use the appropriate Nintendo edition and hardware. |
| Nintendo Switch | Physical and digital | Use the appropriate Nintendo edition and hardware. |
A disc from another platform is not an Xbox installation method. A PlayStation or Nintendo game card cannot be inserted into an Xbox console, and SEGA does not list an Xbox disc to insert in the first place. If a listing, gift or resale offer says “Xbox disc,” verify it carefully before paying; the official Xbox format is digital.

Before you install
Identify your console
Check whether you are using Xbox Series X, Series S, Xbox One X, Xbox One S or another Xbox One model. SEGA’s Xbox listing covers Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. Series S is digital-only hardware, but Series X owners should not assume that a retail disc exists for this game simply because the console has a disc drive.
Use the Microsoft account that owns the game
Digital ownership is attached to the Microsoft/Xbox account that completed the purchase or redeemed the entitlement. If several people use the console, sign in with the account that owns Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds before looking for an install option. A different profile may be able to play under the console’s sharing settings, but the purchase itself still belongs to the account that made it; if the title does not appear, first check the owning account.
Buying on the wrong profile is the most common reason a paid game appears to have a price again. Before checking out, look at the account indicator shown by the Store. After a code redemption, remain signed in to the same account while opening the library. A code or purchase is not converted into a physical license that can be moved between unrelated Microsoft accounts.

The Microsoft Store and the game library need an Xbox network connection to retrieve a digital license and download the game. Keep the console connected while the download and update are in progress. The exact dashboard wording can change, so follow the current Store and library prompts shown on your console rather than relying on an older menu name.
Have the basic installation requirements ready
- A Microsoft/Xbox account that can buy, redeem or access the game.
- An Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One console connected to Xbox services.
- Payment information for a new purchase, or a legitimate Xbox code for a redemption.
- Enough free console storage for the amount displayed by the current install prompt.
SEGA’s published information does not give a required storage figure for this title. Use the size shown by your own Xbox Store or library screen instead of relying on an old estimate from an unofficial listing.
Buying the digital Xbox edition
- On the Xbox console, open the Microsoft Store.
- Search for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and open the product listing.
- Confirm that the listing is for Xbox and matches your region. Do not rely solely on a marketplace title that says “disc” or “physical”; the official Xbox format is digital-only.
- Review the account shown for the purchase. This is the account to which the game license will be attached.
- Complete the purchase using the Store’s current checkout prompts.
- Choose the Store’s install or download option when it appears, or leave the listing and install it from your game library.
Microsoft’s general Xbox guidance states that games bought through the Microsoft Store can be downloaded, installed and reinstalled. Store availability and prices can vary by region and can change; the available product information does not establish a current price for this title.
If multiple search results appear, open the full product page rather than purchasing from a short search label. Check the platform designation, publisher and edition details shown by the current listing. A physical PlayStation 5 or Nintendo product may use a similar title but will not add an Xbox entitlement to your account.
Installing a purchase you already own
- Sign out of unrelated profiles if necessary and sign in to the Microsoft/Xbox account that bought or redeemed the game.
- Open the console’s game library. Use the current library filter or search field to find Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.
- Select the game and choose the install option shown by the current Xbox interface.
- Let the base game download and finish installing. If the console presents additional install choices, read the current prompts carefully before confirming.
- After installation, highlight the game and check for an available update. Apply it before launching online modes or downloadable content.
If the title is absent, do not buy it again immediately. Confirm that you are signed in to the purchasing account, check the Store’s order or ownership history, and search the Store listing directly. A purchase made on a different Microsoft account will not normally appear as owned on the current account.

Microsoft describes digital download and reinstall rights generally, so menu names may differ between dashboard versions. The reliable indicators are the current Store or library entry and the install command displayed for the signed-in account. A previous installation on another Xbox does not require a new disc; reinstall from the owning account’s library.
Redeeming an Xbox code
A code is still a digital purchase route, not an Xbox disc substitute. Redeem it while signed in to the Microsoft account that should own the game. Read the product name, platform and region on the redemption screen before confirming. Once the redemption succeeds, open that account’s library and install the title using the same process as any other owned digital game.
If a seller describes a code as a “physical Xbox copy,” treat that wording cautiously. The code may represent a digital entitlement, and the entitlement remains tied to the account that redeems it. Keep the redemption confirmation for your records and avoid redeeming on a child or secondary profile unless that is intentionally the owning account.

SEGA’s October 8, 2026 update notice says: “You must update to the latest version of the game to play online modes like World Match and access DLC.” That notice lists version 1.4.3 for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
- Start the game from the Xbox dashboard, or select its update option if the console offers one before launch.
- Allow the update to download and install completely.
- Restart the game if Xbox or the title requests a restart.
- Only then try World Match or downloadable content.
The version number is tied to SEGA’s October 8, 2026 notice. Future updates may use a different number, so the current update offered by the console takes precedence over an older number shown in an article or saved screenshot. If the game opens offline but online features are unavailable, checking for the newest update is the first corrective step.
An installed base game is not necessarily a fully current game. Xbox may show a pending update separately from the launch tile, and an update interrupted by a lost connection may need to be resumed before online features become available. Wait for the console to report completion, then relaunch the title if requested.
Launching and choosing how to play
Once the game is installed and updated, launch it from the Xbox dashboard. SEGA’s published overview describes both offline and online play. Its general player figures are:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
| Play type | Published figure | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Local play | 1–4 players | SEGA’s game-wide listing; individual mode and platform behavior can differ. |
| Online play | Up to 12 players | SEGA’s game-wide listing; this is not a promise that every mode supports 12 players on every platform. |
The listing includes a separate Nintendo Switch local-communication caveat. That caveat concerns the Nintendo platform and should not be used to infer a different Xbox player limit. On Xbox, select the mode presented by the installed game and follow its current prompts for local or online participation.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Use the offline modes if you simply want to start racing after installation. For World Match and other network features, finish the update first. The published “up to 12” figure is a maximum for the game-wide overview, not a guarantee that every race, playlist or Xbox configuration displays twelve participants.
Physical versus digital: the decision for Xbox owners
| Question | Xbox digital edition | Xbox physical edition |
|---|---|---|
| Does SEGA list it? | Yes, for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. | No Xbox disc edition is listed. |
| Where do you obtain it? | Microsoft Store or an eligible digital entitlement. | There is no official Xbox disc route established by SEGA. |
| How is ownership checked? | Through the Microsoft/Xbox account that purchased or redeemed it. | Not applicable to an Xbox edition listed by SEGA. |
| How do you reinstall? | Use the owning account’s Xbox library or the Store listing. | Not applicable. |
For this particular game, “Should I buy the disc or digital version for Xbox?” has a straightforward answer: choose digital. Physical editions on other consoles are separate platform products and do not create an Xbox license.
Digital is also the only format that fits both Xbox models named by SEGA. Series S has no disc drive, and Series X’s drive does not create a disc edition where the publisher lists none. The meaningful comparison is therefore not loading speed or disc storage; it is whether the Xbox purchase is attached to the correct account and whether that account can download the current version.
If you expected an Xbox disc
You bought a listing described as physical
Check the platform logo and product description before opening packaging or completing a transaction. A physical PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch edition is not an Xbox copy. If a seller advertises an Xbox disc, ask for the exact platform and edition details and compare them with SEGA’s official format listing. Do not insert an unrelated disc into the console expecting it to install this game.
Your Xbox Series X has a disc drive
The presence of a disc drive in the hardware does not change the game’s format listing. Series X can read supported discs, but SEGA does not list a CrossWorlds Xbox disc. Use the Microsoft Store or your digital library instead.
You received a code rather than a disc
Redeem a legitimate Xbox code while signed in to the Microsoft account that should own the game, then find the title in that account’s library and install it. The exact redemption screens can change; follow the current Microsoft prompts and verify the product name and region before confirming.
You own the game on another console
A PlayStation or Nintendo purchase is not an Xbox purchase. The physical and digital editions listed for those platforms are separate products. To play on Xbox, obtain the Xbox digital edition through the Microsoft Store or use an Xbox entitlement already attached to the Microsoft account.

Troubleshooting installation and ownership
The Store shows a price even though you bought the game
- Check the signed-in Microsoft account against the account used at checkout.
- Open the account’s order or purchase history and confirm that the transaction completed.
- Search the game directly in the library instead of relying on a home-screen tile.
- Restart the console and sign in again if the purchase is not reflected.
- If the transaction is present but the license remains unavailable, use Microsoft’s current account or Store support route.
The game is in the library but will not install
- Confirm that the console is online and that the download has not been paused.
- Check available console storage and remove or move another title if the Xbox interface reports insufficient space.
- Cancel a stalled download only after noting its status, then start the install again from the library.
- Use the Store listing as an alternate installation path.
The published platform information does not state a required storage size, so do not rely on an unofficial space figure. Use the amount shown by your current Xbox install prompt.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
The game launches, but World Match or DLC is unavailable
- Check for a pending game update.
- Install the latest version offered by Xbox; SEGA’s October 8, 2026 notice identifies 1.4.3 for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
- Restart the game after updating.
- Confirm that the DLC entitlement belongs to the signed-in account and that the content is available for the Xbox edition.
SEGA explicitly requires the latest version for online modes such as World Match and for DLC. An offline launch therefore does not prove that the installation is fully current.
You want to play on a Windows PC as well
Do not assume that buying the Xbox edition automatically grants a Windows PC copy. Microsoft says Xbox Play Anywhere applies only to participating games carrying the Play Anywhere indicator or appearing on its eligibility list. Check the current product listing for that indicator before treating the purchase as a cross-device entitlement. The available product information does not establish that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is Play Anywhere eligible.
You cannot tell which edition you bought
Open the current Store listing while signed in to the purchasing account and read the platform and edition information. Order history can confirm the transaction, but the installation command in the library is the practical test of whether the account owns an Xbox version. Do not infer Xbox ownership from a similarly named Nintendo or PlayStation receipt.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteOnline and offline expectations
The publisher describes offline and online modes, but the latest update requirement applies specifically to online modes such as World Match and to DLC access. Install the base game first, then update before judging whether network features work. The published “up to 12” online figure is a game-wide maximum supplied by SEGA; the exact number of participants can depend on the mode and platform implementation shown in the current game.
Local play is listed as 1–4 players. Use the game’s current local-play instructions and compatible controller setup on Xbox. Because SEGA’s separate local-communication note is for Nintendo Switch, it should not be read as an Xbox requirement or limitation.
Quick Xbox installation checklist
- Confirm you are using Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One.
- Accept that this title has no Xbox disc edition listed by SEGA.
- Connect the console to Xbox services.
- Open the Microsoft Store and verify the Xbox product listing and region.
- Buy or redeem the digital edition with the intended Microsoft account.
- Install from the Store or that account’s game library.
- Apply the newest game update before using World Match or DLC.
- Check the current product listing separately if you need Windows PC rights through Xbox Play Anywhere.
- Launch the game and select offline or online play from the modes available on your updated installation.

Bottom line for an Xbox owner
Treat Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds as a digital Xbox game. Purchase it in the Microsoft Store or install it from the library of the Microsoft account that owns it; there is no Xbox disc-install procedure supported by SEGA’s format listing. The game’s published overview lists local play for up to four and online play for up to 12, subject to the mode and platform details shown in the current release.
