What you are installing
Creator DLC is optional data layered onto the normal Arma 3 installation. A regular Arma 3 client or dedicated-server install does not automatically contain that data. Your server therefore needs two components:

- The standalone Arma 3 Server package, installed as Steam AppID 233780.
- The specific Creator DLC data, supplied either by the Creator DLC server branch or by a developer-published Workshop compatibility item.
The standalone server package is free and does not require ownership of the regular Arma 3 game. The server administrator also does not have to own the Creator DLC being hosted. Player access is a separate issue: clients need the DLC or an applicable compatibility item, and some content remains restricted to owners.
Choose the correct Creator DLC data route
Use the route documented by the developer of the pack you want to run. Do not assume that the branch command or a folder name from one Creator DLC applies to another.

Bohemia Interactive lists compatibility items for selected packs. The listed items are Global Mobilization (Workshop ID 1776428269), S.O.G. Prairie Fire (Workshop ID 2477276806), and CSLA Iron Curtain (Workshop ID 2503886780). Download one only when the relevant DLC developer provides it as the supported server method.
Prepare the server before installing
- Choose a dedicated directory with enough space for the base server and the Creator DLC data.
- Install SteamCMD for the operating system on which the server will run.
- Use a server Steam account for the SteamCMD session. Keep its credentials out of startup scripts and public logs.
- Record the exact DLC pack, its documented data route, and its mod-folder name.
- Plan a maintenance window. The server must be stopped while its files are updated.
- Have your existing server profile, configuration, firewall, and service-start procedure available so the DLC can be added without replacing approved settings.
Keep the base server and DLC data in a predictable layout. A wrong level of nesting—such as placing a compatibility item inside an extra folder—can make the files appear present while the server still reports missing addons.
Install the standalone Arma 3 Server with SteamCMD
- Start SteamCMD on the server.
- Set
force_install_dirto the dedicated directory you selected. - Log in with the server account you use for SteamCMD.
- Install AppID 233780 and validate the files.
- Exit SteamCMD after the installation completes.
A minimal session has this form; replace the directory and account values with your own:
force_install_dir <your-server-directory>
login <server-account>
app_update 233780 validate
quitThe validation pass checks the standalone server files. It does not by itself select a Creator DLC branch, so complete the DLC-data step before launching a mission that depends on Creator DLC content.

Install data from the Creator DLC server branch
When the pack’s developer supplies its data through the server branch, run SteamCMD against AppID 233780 with the creatordlc branch selected. The documented Global Mobilization implementation is:
app_update 233780 -beta creatordlc validate- Stop the running Arma 3 server.
- Open SteamCMD and point
force_install_dirat the same directory used for AppID 233780. - Log in with the server account.
- Run the branch update command.
- Wait for SteamCMD to finish, then inspect the resulting directory for the DLC folder documented by the pack developer.
- Start the server only after the branch update completes successfully.
This command is an implementation example documented for Global Mobilization, not a universal instruction for every Creator DLC. Check the current instructions for the particular pack before deploying, because branch availability and folder names can change with a DLC or server update.
Install a Workshop compatibility item instead
Some Creator DLC developers publish a Workshop compatibility item containing the data needed by servers and clients that do not have the DLC installed in the ordinary way. Use this option only when the developer identifies it as the supported compatibility route.
- Identify the compatibility item for your pack from the developer’s current instructions.
- Download that item to the server using your normal Steam/Workshop deployment method.
- Confirm that the item’s files are in the server directory and that the mod folder is not hidden inside an extra parent directory.
- Read the item’s documentation for its exact launch-folder name.
- Use that folder in the server’s
-mod=parameter and test a mission that actually uses the DLC content.
For reference, the compatibility IDs listed by Bohemia Interactive are 1776428269 for Global Mobilization, 2477276806 for S.O.G. Prairie Fire, and 2503886780 for CSLA Iron Curtain. An ID alone is not a guarantee that the item is still the current deployment method; follow the associated developer guidance.

Enable the DLC in the server launch parameters
Installing the files does not activate them. Add the DLC folder to the same launch configuration that already contains your server profile, configuration file, and approved mods.
Global Mobilization example
The documented folder parameter for Global Mobilization is:

-mod=gmIf the server already loads other approved mods, keep the DLC entry with them according to your existing launch syntax. The important detail is that gm is the documented Global Mobilization folder; other Creator DLC packs use their own names. Do not substitute gm for another pack or infer a name from the product title.
Check the path and spelling
- Use the folder created by the branch or compatibility installation, not a similarly named download directory.
- Match capitalization and punctuation exactly where your host filesystem distinguishes them.
- Do not add a DLC folder that contains only documentation or Workshop metadata; the server must see the actual addon data.
- Keep the DLC entry on the server’s approved-mod list and make the corresponding client requirements clear to players.
Configure networking and run a controlled test
Creator DLC does not replace the normal dedicated-server configuration. Apply the official Arma 3 dedicated-server guidance for ports, profiles, server configuration, and firewall rules. Make changes in the existing configuration rather than creating a second profile that the service never loads.

- Start the server with the DLC parameter and your normal profile and configuration options.
- Watch the startup output for the DLC folder being loaded.
- Join with a test client that owns the DLC, or with the applicable compatibility data when the pack supports that route.
- Launch the intended mission or terrain instead of testing only the lobby.
- Review the server log after connection and mission start. Missing-addon messages, signature errors, and path errors usually identify whether the problem is data placement, client compatibility, or the launch parameter.
- Repeat the test after a clean restart so you know the service starts correctly without an interactive SteamCMD session.
A successful lobby connection is not proof that every Creator DLC feature works. Test the actual terrain, units, weapons, and mission files your community will use.
What players need to join
The administrator’s ownership and the player’s access are different. You can host Creator DLC without purchasing the pack, but the DLC data is not included in a normal Arma 3 installation.
- A player who owns the Creator DLC can use the official DLC content normally, subject to the pack’s multiplayer requirements.
- Where the developer provides a compatibility item, a non-owner can subscribe to it and join supported multiplayer content.
- Compatibility data does not turn every DLC feature into free content. Access to Creator DLC terrains remains exclusive to owners, and other restrictions may apply.
- Every client must run content compatible with the server’s build and loaded mod set. A server cannot supply a missing or incompatible client installation simply by adding
-mod=.
Tell players which DLC is required, whether a compatibility item is supported, and which mission or terrain is being tested. This avoids treating a client-side ownership warning as a server-installation failure.

- Stop the Arma 3 service before updating.
- Run SteamCMD against AppID 233780 using the same branch selected for the server.
- Update the corresponding Workshop compatibility item as directed by its developer, if you use that route.
- Use
validatewhen diagnosing corruption, incomplete downloads, or unexplained missing files. - Restart the server and repeat the mission test after updates.
Keep the server branch and client build aligned. A client update without the matching server data, or a server branch update while clients remain on older content, can produce missing addons or signature failures. Creator DLC updates and hotfixes can take longer than a normal game update because the external developers and Bohemia Interactive must test the changes together; schedule updates rather than assuming they are instantaneous.

Troubleshoot the common failures

When a repair is needed, stop the server first. Re-running validation while files are in use can leave you with an incomplete diagnosis and makes it harder to identify which process changed the installation.

- AppID 233780 is installed in the directory used by the production service.
- The selected Creator DLC route is the one currently documented for that pack.
- The branch command, when applicable, completed with
validate. - The compatibility item, when applicable, is the developer-published item and its files are in the expected layout.
- The exact DLC folder is present in
-mod=; Global Mobilization uses-mod=gm. - The server profile, configuration, firewall, and ports are unchanged except for the intended DLC addition.
- A DLC-owning client, or a client using the supported compatibility data, has joined and loaded the target mission.
- Server logs show no missing addons, signature errors, or incorrect-path messages.
- Players have been told which ownership or compatibility requirements apply to the mission and terrain.
- The update procedure records which branch or Workshop item must be updated during maintenance.
Which route should you use?
Choose the Creator DLC server branch when the pack’s developer explicitly supplies server data there. It gives SteamCMD a single update path alongside AppID 233780 and is the route illustrated by the Global Mobilization command. Choose a Workshop compatibility item only when the developer publishes one for that pack and identifies it as supported. The compatibility route can help non-owners join eligible multiplayer content, but it does not change terrain ownership rules.
In both cases, the reliable workflow is the same: install the standalone server, place the DLC data in the documented location, add the exact folder to -mod=, test with a compatible client, and update the server and clients together.
