Install Roblox from the official app source for your device: Microsoft Store on Windows, the Roblox website on Mac, the App Store on iPhone and iPad, and Google Play on Android. Check your device meets Roblox’s minimum requirements first. Linux is not officially supported, while ChromeOS and selected Amazon Fire tablets have separate requirements.
Before installing Roblox
Roblox requires an internet connection of approximately 4–8 Mb/s. Roblox recommends Wi-Fi when mobile data is unstable. You will also need enough free storage and a supported operating system.

Roblox accounts store your progress, friends, Robux, and inventory. Signing in to the same account on another supported device restores that account data.

How to install Roblox on a Windows PC
On current Windows installations, use the new Microsoft Store app named Roblox – Windows. Do not deliberately install the older app named only Roblox; Roblox is replacing it and says the old app will eventually stop working.
Windows installation steps
- Open the Microsoft Store.
- Search for Roblox – Windows.
- Confirm that you have selected the new app with the blue icon. The older app has a light gray icon and is named only “Roblox.”
- Click Install or Get.
- Open the installed app and sign in with your normal Roblox username and password.
Your progress, friends, Robux, and inventory are connected to your Roblox account and transfer to the new app when you sign in. Roblox notes that installing the Microsoft Store version requires linking Roblox with an Xbox account or profile as a one-time Microsoft Store requirement.
Windows requirements
- 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11
- DirectX feature-level support of 10 or higher
- At least 1 GB of RAM recommended by Roblox
- Approximately 300 MB of available storage
After confirming that the new app works, uninstall the old app named Roblox from Windows to avoid launching the wrong edition and to reclaim storage. Roblox’s current guidance is available in its Microsoft Store installation guide.
How to install Roblox on a Mac
Mac users install Roblox through a supported web browser. Roblox supports Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Safari on macOS 10.13 High Sierra or newer.

Standard Mac installation
- Open Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.
- Go to the Roblox website and sign in.
- Open any experience.
- Click the green Play button.
- When Roblox displays the installation prompt, allow Roblox Player to install.
If the installer does not open automatically, open Finder, select Today, and click Roblox.dmg. This runs the installer and places the Roblox icon in Applications.
Fix Roblox not launching from Firefox on Mac
Sometimes Roblox installs correctly but Firefox has not associated the roblox-player link with Roblox.app. To create that association:
- Click Play on a Roblox experience in Firefox.
- Select Always use this application to open roblox-player links.
- Click Choose.
- In the Finder window, press Command-Shift-G.
- Enter this path exactly:
/Applications/Roblox.app/Contents/MacOS/Roblox.app - Press Return, select Roblox.app, and click Open.
- In the Choose an application dialog, select Roblox.app and click Open Link.

Roblox requires iOS 14 or later on iPhone and iPadOS 14 or later on iPad. Listed minimum supported Apple devices include iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE, iPod touch (7th generation), iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, iPad (5th generation), and iPad Pro. Compatibility can also depend on the specific device and current app requirements.

Installation steps
- Open the App Store.
- Search for Roblox.
- Select the official Roblox app and tap Get or the download button.
- Authenticate with your Apple account if requested.
- Open Roblox and sign in.
Check the iPhone or iPad software version
Open Settings → General → About and read the Version field. If the device is below iOS 14 or iPadOS 14, it does not meet the listed minimum requirement.
Reinstall Roblox on iPhone or iPad
- Press and hold the Roblox icon on the Home Screen.
- Tap the X or the option to delete the app, then confirm.
- Open the App Store.
- Search for Roblox and reinstall it.
If Roblox will not install or launch, Roblox recommends force-closing the app, restarting the device, reinstalling Roblox, clearing Roblox cookies, and checking that the device’s date and time are correct. Outdated iOS or iPadOS, an outdated Roblox app, incorrect date and time, and corrupted app state can all cause problems. See Roblox’s iOS technical troubleshooting guide.
How to install Roblox on an Android phone or tablet
Android devices need Android 8.0 or newer and support for at least OpenGL ES 3.0. Android 8.0 alone does not guarantee that a device can run Roblox: graphics hardware and processor support also matter.
Installation steps
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Search for Roblox.
- Select Roblox and tap Install.
- Open the app and sign in to your Roblox account.
Roblox recommends installing the latest Android operating-system update available for your device before downloading the app.

Check the Android version
On many Android devices, open Settings → About phone → Software information, then read Android version. Manufacturers use different menus, so the exact path may vary.
What Android compatibility warnings mean
- Device not compatible: The device may not meet Roblox’s software or graphics requirements. Android 8.0 by itself is not enough.
- Older hardware warning: Devices using a Tegra 2 graphics chipset or a processor older than ARMv7 may access non-experience areas but cannot play Roblox experiences.
- Device may not be powerful enough: On some unsupported devices, tapping outside the warning dismisses it and the experience may continue loading. Severe lag is possible.
Reinstall or reset Roblox on Android
To reinstall it, open Google Play, tap the three-line menu in the upper-left, choose My Apps and Experiences, select Roblox, tap Uninstall, remain on the page until removal finishes, and tap Install.
If reinstalling does not help, open the device’s application manager or task manager, select Roblox, tap Clear Data, confirm with OK, and reopen the app. The exact application-manager path varies by manufacturer. Roblox lists ChromeOS version 53 or higher with the Google Play Store enabled among its supported computer configurations. On a compatible Chromebook, open Google Play, search for Roblox, and install the Android app. If the Play Store is disabled by an administrator or unavailable on the Chromebook, this installation route will not work.

Can you install Roblox on an Amazon Fire tablet?
Roblox lists these minimum supported Amazon Fire models:
- Fire 7, 9th generation
- Fire HD 8, 8th generation
- Fire HD 10, 9th generation
- Fire Max 11, 13th generation
Newly released or prerelease devices and operating systems may not be supported immediately. A Fire tablet being able to install other Android apps does not guarantee Roblox compatibility.
Can you install Roblox on Linux?
Linux is not officially supported by Roblox’s computer requirements. Do not use the Windows or Mac installation instructions as a Linux installation method. If Roblox is important on that computer, use a supported Windows or Mac installation instead.

- Check the operating system: Confirm that Windows, macOS, iOS, iPadOS, Android, ChromeOS, or the Fire tablet model meets the relevant minimum.
- Use the correct store or website: Windows users should choose Roblox – Windows; mobile users should use the official App Store or Google Play listing.
- Update the device and Roblox: Install available operating-system and app updates.
