Use one Activision (Call of Duty) account as the identity hub for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Link your PlayStation Network, Xbox, Steam, and/or Battle.net accounts to that same Activision account, then launch the game while signed in to it on every system. Modern Warfare stores gameplay progress on the Activision account rather than on an individual platform account, so XP, unlocks, Battle Pass progress, campaign progress, missions, and challenges can follow you between PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The important exception is Call of Duty Points: points can be spent only on the platform where they were purchased, although items bought with them are shared across linked platforms.
What account actually connects Modern Warfare on PS4, Xbox One, and PC?
The Activision/Call of Duty account is the cross-platform identity for Modern Warfare. Your console or PC account supplies access to the platform, but the Activision account stores the game profile and progression. How do I link Modern Warfare accounts on PS4, Xbox One, and PC?
Complete the linking in a web browser through Activision Account Management. Repeat the platform-linking step while remaining signed in to the same Activision account.
- Sign in or create the Activision account you will keep. Modern Warfare requires an Activision account for online play. If you already have progress, use that existing account rather than registering another one.
- Open Account Management and choose Linked Accounts. This page is the control center for your connected PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and Battle.net identities.
- Choose Link Account beside the first provider. Select PlayStation for PS4, Xbox for Xbox One, or Steam or Battle.net for PC.
- Complete verification and the provider sign-in. Enter the email verification code if requested, then finish signing in on the platform provider’s site. Approve the connection when the provider presents one.
- Repeat for every other platform. Each platform account must be attached to this same Activision account. Activision permits only one linked account per provider, so you cannot attach two PlayStation Network accounts, two Xbox accounts, or two Steam accounts to one Activision account at the same time.
- Launch Modern Warfare on each system. Start the game on PS4, Xbox One, and PC and check that the displayed Activision ID is the one you intended to use. Your established progression should appear after the game connects to the account.
Use the exact platform account that owns or normally starts your copy of the game. Linking a different family member’s or friend’s account can attach the wrong identity even when the console itself is the same.

This is account-based progression, not a transfer of ownership between stores. You are signing into the same Modern Warfare identity on another platform, so the profile appears there instead of being copied into a second Activision account.
What happens to Call of Duty Points when I switch platforms?
Call of Duty Points are the principal cross-platform exception. Points can be spent only on the platform where they were purchased. For example, points bought on PS4 remain spendable on PS4 rather than becoming a common balance you can use on Xbox One or PC.
Items purchased with those points are shared across the linked platforms. This means an item can be available when you play elsewhere even though the unspent currency used to buy it remains tied to the purchasing platform. Check which system you are using before spending a balance.
How can I confirm that the link worked?
- Return to Activision Account Management and open Linked Accounts. Confirm that the intended PlayStation Network, Xbox, Steam, or Battle.net identity appears under the account you chose.
- Start Modern Warfare on the platform you just connected.
- Open the in-game account or profile area and compare the displayed Activision ID with the account you intended to keep.
- Check a distinctive item of progress, such as your level, a completed challenge, or a Battle Pass position, rather than relying only on the platform’s console or launcher name.
- Repeat the check on the other systems. A platform can be linked correctly in the browser while the game is still running under an old session; fully close and relaunch the game after changing account links.
If the Activision ID is wrong, stop before earning more progress. Continuing to play under the wrong identity makes it harder to tell which profile contains later changes.

What if I linked the wrong Activision account?
Progress does not merge when a platform account is attached to a different Activision account. The original progress and content are not deleted, however. Relinking that platform account to its original Activision account restores access to the associated profile.
The safest recovery sequence is:
- Stop playing on the incorrectly linked account so new progress is not created in the wrong place.
- Identify the original Activision account by checking which account previously displayed your level, unlocks, Battle Pass, campaign progress, missions, and challenges.
- Use Activision Account Management’s Linked Accounts page to remove the platform from the wrong account, if the account is eligible for unlinking.
- Sign in to the original Activision account and link the platform there.
- Relaunch Modern Warfare and verify the Activision ID and progression before resuming play.
Do not expect Activision support or the game to combine two separate profiles into one. The recovery is returning the platform account to the original profile, not merging the two accounts.

No. Current account-management guidance generally limits an individual platform account to one unlink every 12 months. Suspicious activity or active enforcement can restrict unlinking further, so the option may be unavailable even when you believe the account was linked by mistake.
Because of that policy, inspect the Activision ID and linked-account list before confirming a change. If you are unsure which account owns the progress, do not unlink experimentally; first locate the account that shows the expected profile. A mistaken unlink can leave you unable to reconnect that provider until the policy window allows it.

Why is my progress missing after linking?
The game is signed in to a different Activision account
The most common cause is an account mismatch. Compare the Activision ID shown in Modern Warfare with the account shown in Account Management, then check every platform link. If the platform is attached to another account, reconnect it to the original account that contains the progress.
The provider account is already linked elsewhere
One provider account can be linked to only one Activision account at a time. If the PlayStation Network, Xbox, Steam, or Battle.net identity is already attached to another Activision account, signing into a new account will not duplicate or move its progress. Find the original Activision account before attempting an unlink, keeping the 12-month restriction in mind.
The game was left open during the change

The verification step failed
Use the verification code sent to the email address on the Activision account and complete the provider sign-in in the same browser session. If a code is missing, check the account’s email address and its spam or junk folder, request a new code, and avoid repeatedly submitting expired codes.
Does crossplay have to be enabled for shared progression?
