How you sign into a different Fortnite account depends on your platform: on PC, switch accounts in the Epic Games Launcher; on mobile, log out in Fortnite and choose Switch Account at login. On PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, first check which Epic Games account is linked to your console profile. Changing that link can affect access to progress, and Epic does not merge Fortnite progress between accounts.
Switch accounts on PC
- In the Epic Games Launcher, sign out of the Epic Games account currently in use.
- Sign in to the other Epic Games account, then launch Fortnite.
Epic’s PC account-switching instructions require signing out of the current account before signing in to another.
Switch accounts on mobile
- Open Fortnite and tap the image in the top-right corner.
- Choose the red logout option and log out.
- Restart Fortnite, then choose the option to log in to an Epic account.
- On the browser login screen, select Switch Account beneath the last-used display name.
- Sign in to the Epic account you want to use.
Epic documents this flow in its mobile account-switching instructions. Menu wording can change, so follow the visible logout control and account-switch option in the login flow.
Check the linked account on PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch
Console sign-in is tied to the Epic account linked to the console profile; it is not the same as simply signing out of a launcher. To see which Epic account is connected, sign in to Epic’s website using the relevant console login and review Linked accounts. You may find that the console is connected to an Epic account created automatically when Fortnite was first played, even if you never set up its usual email-and-password sign-in.

If the website shows an avatar instead of a sign-in button, sign out of the Epic website first so the browser does not show links for the wrong Epic account. Epic explains how to identify an unexpected connection in its console-account connection guidance.
Understand the progress risk before unlinking a console
Fortnite progress and purchases are stored on the Epic account. Unlinking a console profile removes that console’s access to the data on the linked account; launching Fortnite afterward can create a new, empty Epic account for the console. Epic’s console unlinking guidance describes this effect.

Progress does not move or combine when you link a console to a different Epic account. The game will show the progress on the newly linked account, not merge it with the previous account’s progress. If you want to keep two separate sets of progress, Epic says to maintain two separate Epic accounts.

- Before unlinking, sign in to the Epic accounts you may have used and check which one has the progress you want.
- Read the on-screen warnings and verify the account before confirming any unlinking or relinking change.
- Epic says removing a same-platform linking restriction is limited to once every 365 days. Check the current eligibility and warnings in your account before attempting the change.
If the wrong account or progress appears
- The console says it is connected to another Epic account: Sign in to Epic using that console’s own account login to reveal the connected Epic account. The email used for the console account may differ from the Epic account email.
- Progress is missing after a link change: Identify the Epic account that contains the main Fortnite progress, then connect the console to that account. Relinking does not transfer progress between Epic accounts.
- You may have an automatically created Epic account: Identify and complete the account and linking steps before unlinking; otherwise, the console can lose access to the data stored there.
- The sign-in flow still does not match your account: Stop making repeated unlink-and-relink attempts and use Epic Games Support’s progress-sync and linking guidance.
