How to Make a Private Server in The Mimic and Control Who Can Join (2026)

To make a private server for The Mimic, open the game’s live Roblox page, scroll to Servers, choose Create Private Server, and complete Roblox’s purchase flow if a price is shown. You then control access from the server row’s three-dot menu → Configure. That page lets you approve individual users, allow your friends list, create a server link, apply restrictions, rename the server, or cancel renewal.

The Mimic does not document a separate in-game private-server system. Availability and price are live Roblox settings: if the page has no Private Servers section or Create Private Server button, the experience creator has not currently enabled the feature. A friend who sees a permission error may be blocked by either your server settings or their own Roblox privacy and parental-control settings.

What is a private server in The Mimic?

A private server is a Roblox server with limits on who can join. In The Mimic, it uses Roblox’s standard private-server feature rather than a special menu documented by CTStudio. The experience page identifies The Mimic as a CTStudio game built around four stories inspired by Japanese history and urban legends; its warning also calls out flashing lights, loud noises and jumpscares.

Because Roblox lets each experience creator decide whether private servers are available, the live game page is the authority. The page may show a Servers tab without exposing a current private-server price or confirming that creation is enabled. Check the section immediately before planning a session.

How do I check whether The Mimic private servers are enabled?

Open The Mimic’s current Roblox experience page and scroll to Servers. Roblox says the Private Servers section appears only when the experience creator has turned the feature on.

  1. Sign in to the Roblox account that will own the server.
  2. Open the live The Mimic experience page.
  3. Scroll past the public-server listings to Servers.
  4. Look for Private Servers and a Create Private Server button.

If neither appears, there is no supported creation step to take. Do not rely on an old video, a third-party link or a supposed The Mimic-specific workaround; Roblox’s platform documentation makes creator enablement a prerequisite.

How do I create a private server in The Mimic?

You need a Roblox account, access to The Mimic’s live experience page and enough Robux if Roblox presents a paid server. Creation is done on the experience page, not inside a running round.

  1. Open the Servers section. On The Mimic’s experience page, scroll to Servers and find Private Servers.
  2. Select Create Private Server. If the creator has enabled the feature, Roblox opens the setup dialog.
  3. Name the server. Enter a name that will help you recognize it in your server list.
  4. Review the subscription agreement. Roblox may show an initial Robux charge and a recurring monthly charge. The experience creator, not Roblox’s general platform price list, sets the amount.
  5. Select Buy Now when shown. If the dialog is free, complete the creation flow without a purchase; if it is paid, confirm only after checking the displayed amount and renewal terms.
  6. Open Configure. After creation, configure access immediately or return later through the same Servers section.

A successful purchase or free creation should place the server in your private-server list. If the transaction completes but the server does not appear, refresh the page, sign out and back in, and check the Servers section again before attempting another purchase.

How much does a The Mimic private server cost?

There is no reliable fixed price to publish for The Mimic from the accessible experience page. Roblox says private-server prices are set by the individual experience creator and can consist of an initial Robux charge followed by a recurring monthly charge. The amount shown in the live creation dialog is the amount that applies to your account and region at that time.

  • Free availability: Some experiences expose private servers without a purchase. The live dialog determines whether The Mimic does so.
  • Initial charge: A paid server can require Robux when you create it.
  • Recurring renewal: Roblox can bill a monthly Robux subscription for continued access.
  • Unverified amounts: Do not use a price copied from an old guide; creator pricing can change, and the accessible page does not state a current figure.

Before confirming, read the subscription agreement and note whether the screen describes a one-time purchase, a monthly renewal, or both. If your balance is insufficient at a future renewal, Roblox says the server expires rather than remaining active indefinitely.

How do I change who can join my The Mimic private server?

Return to The Mimic’s Servers section, locate your server, open the three-dot menu at the far right of its row, and choose Configure. Roblox provides the access controls on that configuration page.

  1. Open the live The Mimic experience page.
  2. Scroll to Servers and find your private server.
  3. Select the three-dot menu on the right side of the server row.
  4. Choose Configure.
  5. Change the membership or visibility option you need, then save or confirm the page’s prompt.

Roblox’s documented controls include several approaches. They are not interchangeable: each creates a different balance between control and convenience.

Access approach What the owner does Best fit Important limitation
Individual members Add specific Roblox usernames in the server’s member list. A fixed group whose accounts you know. Roblox documents up to 50 individual users.
Friends Allowed Enable the option that permits people on the owner’s friends list. Regular sessions with existing Roblox friends. It is broader than a hand-picked list and still depends on the invitee’s account settings.
Server link Create a shareable link from the configuration page. Sending an invitation without typing each username. A link does not override Roblox privacy or parental restrictions.
Access restrictions Use the restriction controls offered on the Configure page. Tightening entry after a link or friends-list invitation. Restrictions govern future permission checks; Roblox does not promise an instant removal from a live session.

You can also rename the server from Configure and manage its subscription status there. Keep the member list narrow when the server link is being shared outside your usual group.

What is the difference between server access and Roblox account privacy?

Server-level settings decide whom the owner invites; account-level privacy decides whether the invited account is allowed to participate. Both layers must permit the join.

Owner-controlled layer

The owner chooses individual members, enables Friends Allowed, creates a link and applies server restrictions from Configure. If a username is missing from the member list and friends are not allowed, the owner has not granted that account entry.

Invitee-controlled layer

The invited player should open Roblox and go to Settings → Privacy & content restrictions → Visibility & private servers → Private servers. The selected option must permit private-server invitations. A parent or guardian can impose stricter limits through Roblox parental controls, so an owner cannot bypass those settings by adding the account manually.

Why both checks matter

An owner can correctly add a username while the invitee’s privacy setting still blocks the invitation. Conversely, an invitee can permit private servers while the owner has not added the account or has disabled the relevant access method. Diagnose the two accounts separately instead of repeatedly recreating the server.

Why can’t my friend join my The Mimic private server?

Roblox identifies permission settings as a common cause of Error Code 524. Check the owner and invitee sides in order, then rule out a temporary service or network problem.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

1. Verify the owner’s invitation

  • Open the server’s three-dot menu and choose Configure.
  • Confirm the friend’s exact Roblox username is in Server Members, or turn on Friends Allowed if that is how you intend to grant access.
  • If you sent a link, generate or copy it again from the current configuration page rather than relying on a truncated message.
  • Check that a restrictive setting has not been enabled after the invitation was sent.

2. Verify the friend’s account settings

  • Have the friend open Settings → Privacy & content restrictions → Visibility & private servers → Private servers.
  • They should choose the option that permits the invitation, subject to any parent or guardian controls.
  • For an account under 13, Roblox’s documented default is stricter: the account can join private servers created by friends. A non-friend owner or a parental restriction can still block the attempt.

3. Rule out a temporary failure

If both permission layers are correct, Roblox recommends waiting and trying again, restarting the Roblox app and device, and checking the network connection. A game or server can be temporarily unavailable even when the configuration is correct. Repeatedly changing the member list will not fix an outage.

Do not promise that changing the list instantly kicks a player already inside a live session. The official guidance documents permission configuration and future joins, not an immediate kick or ban guarantee.

How do age and parental controls affect private servers?

Age and parental settings can be stricter than the owner’s server configuration. Roblox’s default documented restriction for users under 13 allows joining private servers created by their friends; account settings or parental controls may narrow that further. The restriction applies to the account attempting to join, so an owner cannot solve it solely by creating a link or adding a username.

If a child cannot join, the parent or guardian should review the Roblox account’s privacy and parental-control settings, then retry only after the allowed relationship and private-server option match the invitation. Avoid changing unrelated safety settings simply to force one game session.

How do I stop renewal or cancel the server?

Use the server’s three-dot menu in The Mimic’s Servers section and select Cancel, or open Configure and change the active subscription status.

  1. Open The Mimic’s live experience page and scroll to Servers.
  2. Find the private server you own.
  3. Open the three-dot menu and choose Cancel, or select Configure and manage the subscription there.
  4. Confirm the cancellation when Roblox asks.

Roblox says cancellation does not end access immediately: the server remains available through the already-paid period. At the next renewal, insufficient Robux causes the server to expire. If you want to preserve access for a scheduled event, cancel only after checking the period-end information shown in Roblox.

What should I check before inviting a group?

A short pre-session check prevents most permission surprises.

  • Confirm that Private Servers and Create Private Server are visible on the live The Mimic page.
  • Record the price and whether Roblox shows a recurring monthly charge before selecting Buy Now.
  • Choose one access method: a member list, Friends Allowed, or a server link.
  • For a member list, copy each username exactly and stay within Roblox’s documented limit of up to 50 individual users.
  • Ask invitees to review Settings → Privacy & content restrictions → Visibility & private servers → Private servers before the session.
  • For younger players, confirm that parental controls allow the intended invitation and that the owner is an eligible friend when Roblox’s under-13 restriction applies.
  • Keep the server link in the intended group and revisit Configure if the guest list changes.
  • Remember The Mimic’s flashing-light, loud-noise and jumpscare warnings when deciding who should participate.

Can I use a private server as a separate The Mimic game mode?

No separate The Mimic private-server mode is documented in the accessible experience description. A private server changes who can enter the Roblox server; it does not, by itself, add stories, alter difficulty or create an in-game ruleset. Any gameplay options must come from the experience itself and should not be inferred from the server purchase screen.

How we picked the instructions

This guide follows Roblox’s platform workflow for private servers: creation begins in the experience’s Servers section, access changes use the server-row three-dot menu and Configure, and join troubleshooting checks both server permissions and the invitee’s privacy controls. The Mimic-specific details are limited to what its live experience page identifies and what Roblox exposes in the current interface; availability and price remain live UI facts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I change a private server from paid to free after creating it?

No conversion option is documented. Roblox says the experience creator sets the private-server price, so the owner can only use the terms and controls displayed for that server; changing the price would require the creator to alter the experience’s settings.

Does cancelling a server delete it immediately?

No. Roblox says cancellation leaves access available through the period already paid for. The server expires when that period ends rather than disappearing at the moment you select Cancel.

Why does a newly invited friend still see Error Code 524?

The invitation can be correct while the friend’s Roblox privacy, age or parental-control setting blocks private servers. Have the friend review the private-server option under Visibility & private servers, then retry after checking that the game and network are available.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Is there a The Mimic-specific maximum number of players for a private server?

The available Roblox guidance specifies up to 50 individual users that an owner can add, but it does not establish a separate The Mimic-specific player cap. Treat any additional gameplay limit as a live experience setting rather than assuming it from the member-list limit.
