What Sneak’s Pirate Pack is
Sneak’s Pirate Pack is a pirate-themed Minecraft modpack created by sneak. Its official project description calls it “All you need to turn Minecraft into a Pirate game, as seen on my YouTube channel!” The pack adds pirate-style armor and weapons, generated structures and altered world generation, sailable ships, sharks, pirates and other enemies, and treasure.
The project targets Minecraft Java Edition 1.16.5 and the Forge mod loader. The project page showed more than 100,000 downloads and a May 5, 2024 update; download totals change over time, so treat that figure as a historical snapshot rather than a permanent count.

Files, versions and loader requirements
There are two different downloads that matter: the client pack your players launch and the dedicated-server archive the server runs. They are related, but they are not interchangeable.

Keep the pack name, Minecraft version, Forge build, manifest and overrides aligned. A server can appear to start while still rejecting players if one of those components comes from a different release.
Choose self-hosting or a managed host
Self-hosting gives you direct access to the server directory, configuration files, world saves and startup process. It also makes you responsible for extraction, EULA acceptance, networking, backups, updates and performance monitoring.
A managed host puts those tasks behind a control panel. The host provisions the machine and normally exposes actions such as selecting a modpack version, starting or stopping the server, changing settings and restoring backups. You give up some low-level control, and the monthly price, storage, player limit, CPU allocation, memory allocation and geographic location depend on the plan you choose.

No validated RAM, CPU or player-count requirement is published for this pack. Choose capacity for your expected number of players and the amount of activity in the world, then watch actual resource use instead of relying on a universal specification.
Build a dedicated server from the official archive
1. Make a clean server directory
Create a new, dedicated folder for the server. Use a location that is easy to back up and that your operating system account can read and write. Do not extract the files into an existing vanilla world or into a client’s instance directory.

2. Download the server pack
From the pack’s official files page, download Sneak’s Pirate Pack SERVER.zip. Confirm that the filename identifies it as the server archive. The normal client download is not a substitute: it may contain client-only files and lacks the server-pack layout intended by the author.
3. Extract every archive file
Extract the ZIP directly into the new server directory. Preserve the directory structure and filenames. Do not drag only the mods folder into another server, and do not merge this pack with files from a different Forge installation.
4. Run the included Forge/server bootstrap
Open the extracted folder and use the Forge or server bootstrap supplied with that release. The exact launcher filename and startup arrangement are determined by the files in the archive, so run the included bootstrap rather than guessing a command from another modpack. On the first run, Forge and Minecraft may create additional folders and configuration files.
5. Accept the Minecraft EULA
The first startup normally creates an eula.txt file and stops until the EULA is accepted. Open that file, change the EULA setting to accept it only if you agree to Mojang’s terms, save it, and start the same server bootstrap again.

Allow the server to complete world and configuration generation before stopping it. The first launch can take longer than later launches because Forge is building caches and the world is being created. Stop the server through its console command or the host’s stop control rather than killing the process while files are being written.
7. Set the basic server options
After the first successful start, review the generated server configuration and the pack’s own configuration files. Set the world name, difficulty, game mode, player permissions and other options you actually need. Keep a copy of the original generated files so you can identify changes later.

8. Test from the same machine
Launch a matching client and connect to the server locally before inviting anyone. A local test separates pack or loader problems from router, firewall and DNS problems. Join the world, move around, test a few modded items and confirm that the server console remains free of repeated errors.
9. Configure outside access only after the local test
For friends outside your home network, configure your operating system firewall and router according to your network equipment, then give players the address and port you have configured. Keep the server process running while testing from an external connection. If local connections work but outside connections fail, investigate firewall, router forwarding, carrier-grade NAT or the address you distributed rather than reinstalling the modpack.
Install the matching client
Players need the Sneak’s Pirate Pack NEW release, Minecraft 1.16.5 and Forge. A vanilla 1.16.5 profile, a different Forge build or another release with a similar name can produce missing-mod or registry errors even when the server itself is healthy.
GDLauncher installation path
- Open GDLauncher and choose Create a new instance.
- Select the Forge loader and Minecraft 1.16.5.
- Open the new instance’s Addons tab and select Add Addons.
- Paste the quick-install ID
#sneaks-pirate-pack. - Download the pack and allow the launcher to resolve its dependencies.
- Launch the instance once, then connect only after it reaches the main menu without loader errors.
GDLauncher documents support for Sneak’s Pirate Pack on Minecraft 1.16.5 with Forge. If you use another launcher, select the same named release and verify the resulting Minecraft and Forge versions rather than assuming that a similarly titled profile is equivalent.
Install the pack through a managed host
Managed panels remove much of the file-handling work, but you still need to select the same release that players use. Read the version label carefully before creating the server.

MTXServ
MTXServ places the pack under Version/Modpacks. Select Sneak’s Pirate Pack, install the latest available version shown by the panel, and restart the server. MTXServ states that it performs backups automatically before updates; still verify that a restore point exists and learn where the panel exposes it before changing a live world.
BoxToPlay
BoxToPlay documents selecting the pack version, choosing a Minecraft plan and completing checkout. The server is delivered with the selected pack installed during setup. Confirm the installed Minecraft and Forge labels in the panel, then have one player join before the rest of the group transfers their world expectations to the new host.
Keep every installation on the same release
Use this checklist whenever you create the server, add a player or perform an update:

- Forge is the loader on both sides, with the release build recorded by the host or pack.
- The server uses the official SERVER.zip archive.
- Players use the matching Sneak’s Pirate Pack NEW client release.
- The manifest, overrides and mod versions have not been mixed with another release.
- The world is backed up before changing pack versions, Forge builds or individual mods.
Do not upload a normal client folder to a host as a shortcut. Client folders can include files that are inappropriate for a dedicated server, while the official server archive supplies the intended server layout.

Back up the world and the server configuration before changing versions. Keep at least one copy outside the live server directory so a failed update cannot overwrite every copy. Record the old pack release, Minecraft version and Forge build alongside the backup.
Update only when all players can move to the same release. Stop the server cleanly, create the backup, apply the host’s or archive’s documented update process, start the server, and inspect the console for errors before allowing normal play. If the new release changes world-generation or mod behavior, test a copy of the world first; do not use an untested build as the only copy of a long-running community world.

Troubleshoot the problems that occur most often
The server stops immediately and mentions the EULA
Open eula.txt in the server directory, read the license, set the acceptance value only if you agree, save the file and run the same bootstrap again. If the file keeps reverting, check that you edited the file in the directory the bootstrap actually uses and that the account running the server can write there.

Compare the player’s instance with the server record: Minecraft 1.16.5, Forge build, named pack release, manifest and overrides. Reinstall the NEW client release through the launcher rather than copying random files from another instance. On a managed host, check that the panel did not install a different pack version than the one your group selected.
The server starts, but modded blocks or items are missing
Stop the server and inspect the startup log for failed dependencies or a partially extracted archive. Re-extract a fresh copy of SERVER.zip into a clean directory and repeat the first-start process. Do not copy only individual mods from a working client, because dependencies and configuration files may also be required.
Players can connect locally but not from the internet
Keep the local installation unchanged and troubleshoot networking separately. Verify the server is listening on the configured port, permit the process through the host firewall, check router forwarding and test from a connection outside your home network. If your internet provider uses carrier-grade NAT, ordinary port forwarding may not work; a managed host or another reachable network may be necessary.
The world becomes unstable after an update
Stop the server, restore the pre-update world and configuration backup, and return clients to the previous matching release. Do not keep switching individual mods while the same world is live. Once the restored version is stable, test the candidate update on a copy and document each change.

Performance declines as more players explore
The pack’s published materials do not establish a guaranteed memory allocation, processor requirement or player limit. Watch the server’s memory use, CPU load, tick behavior and storage space while players explore, generate terrain and use ships or other modded systems. If the host is saturated, reduce simultaneous activity or move to a plan or machine with more resources rather than changing random mod files.
Practical administration for a friends’ server
Decide who can stop or update the server and keep those credentials separate from ordinary player access. Maintain a written record of the installed pack release and Forge build, the backup location and the date of the last successful connection test. Before inviting a larger group, have at least one player join from outside the host’s local network so address and firewall mistakes are found early.
For a small private world, the safest workflow is deliberately boring: install the official server archive, prove that one matching client can join, back up the working world, then add players. Every later change should preserve that same sequence—backup, change one thing, start, inspect the console and test a client.
Final setup checklist
- Dedicated server created from Sneak’s Pirate Pack SERVER.zip.
- Minecraft 1.16.5 and Forge confirmed on the server.
- Players installed Sneak’s Pirate Pack NEW with the matching Forge release.
- EULA accepted and a clean first startup completed.
- Local connection tested before external networking.
- Firewall, router or host networking tested from outside the local network.
- World and configuration backup made before inviting the group or updating.
- Resource use monitored because no universal RAM, CPU or player-count figure is published.
Following those checks gives you a reproducible Sneak’s Pirate Pack server and prevents the most common avoidable failure: a client and server that are running different versions of the same pack.
