At a Brewing Stand, brew Nether Wart into a Water Bottle to make an Awkward Potion, add Magma Cream to create a Potion of Fire Resistance, then add Redstone Dust to extend it from 3:00 to 8:00.
Ingredients and equipment
- Water Bottle
- Nether Wart
- Magma Cream
- Redstone Dust
- Brewing Stand
The recipe uses in-game items; a real-world brewing device or ingredients will not make this potion.
How to brew the 8-minute potion
- Make an Awkward Potion: Put a Water Bottle in the Brewing Stand and brew Nether Wart into it. Awkward Potion is the base for nearly every potion, according to Minecraft’s Ten Rare Recipes article.
- Create Fire Resistance: Brew Magma Cream into the Awkward Potion. This produces a Potion of Fire Resistance, as shown in the Minecraft Wiki recipe reference.
- Extend the duration: Brew Redstone Dust into the Potion of Fire Resistance. The ordinary potion lasts 3:00; the extended version lasts 8:00, according to Craftdex’s effect reference, updated September 17, 2026 and DigMinecraft’s extended-recipe walkthrough.
Use the ingredients in the right order
Redstone Dust extends an existing Fire Resistance potion; it does not create the effect by itself. First brew Magma Cream into the Awkward Potion, then add Redstone Dust to the resulting Fire Resistance potion.
Edition and version note
The cited recipe references support the standard brewing sequence, but do not establish a Java-versus-Bedrock comparison or a version-by-version change history. If the recipe behaves differently in your game, check the brewing details for your specific Minecraft edition and version.
