You can’t buy slimeballs from a regular village villager. A wandering trader may offer one slimeball for four emeralds, but the offer is uncommon and isn’t guaranteed to appear with any particular trader.
How to get a slimeball from a wandering trader
- Find a wandering trader. The slimeball offer is associated with wandering traders, not ordinary villagers.
- Check the trader’s available offers. The Minecraft Wiki’s trade table lists a price of four emeralds for one slimeball, with five trades in stock. It gives the offer a 1.4% probability in both Java and Bedrock, so a trader may not have it. Minecraft Wiki: Slimeball
- If the offer appears, trade emeralds for the slimeball. If it does not, try another way to obtain slimeballs rather than assuming every trader will sell them.
Why wandering trader offers vary
Wandering trader offers are selected from trade tables, so the available offers can vary. Microsoft Learn documents this random selection system for villager and wandering trader offers; it is technical documentation, not a player-facing list of slimeball trades. Microsoft Learn: Trade tables
Mojang’s Java Edition Snapshot 25w07a notes describe a trader rebalance that changed prices, trade variety, and stock for many items. Those Java snapshot notes do not say that the slimeball offer changed, and they do not independently confirm Bedrock mechanics. Mojang: Java Edition Snapshot 25w07a
Other ways to get slimeballs
Slimes are a direct source of slimeballs. Baby pandas can also rarely sneeze one out: the Minecraft Wiki lists a 1-in-700 chance per sneeze. Minecraft Wiki: Slimeball

What slimeballs are used for
Slimeballs are ingredients for slime blocks, magma cream, and sticky pistons, and they can be used to breed frogs. If you need several for crafting, the single-slimeball trader offer may be less useful than a source that yields more for your needs. Minecraft Wiki: Slimeball
