Smelt sand or red sand in a regular furnace to make glass. Put the sand in the input slot, add fuel to the fuel slot, then collect the glass from the output slot.
What you need to make glass
- Sand or red sand: either works, and each input produces one glass block.
- A regular furnace: a blast furnace is not the right station for this recipe.
- Fuel: use any fuel the furnace accepts.
How to smelt sand into glass
- Collect sand or red sand.
- Open a regular furnace. If you do not have one, craft or find one first.
- Place the sand in the furnace’s upper input slot and fuel in its lower fuel slot.
- Wait for smelting to finish, then take the glass from the output slot. The furnace reference gives a base smelting time of 10 seconds per item.
A furnace processes one input item at a time. Its input, fuel, and output slots have separate functions, so placing sand in the fuel slot will not smelt it. A blast furnace handles ores, while a smoker handles food; other items, including sand, use a regular furnace. Minecraft Wiki: Smelting

Can you use red sand?
Yes. Red sand produces ordinary glass through the same regular-furnace process as sand. Choose whichever type you have available; the input changes, but the result does not. Minecraft Wiki: Glass
What can you craft with glass?
- Glass panes: Six glass blocks make 16 panes.
- Glass bottles: Three glass blocks make three bottles.
- Stained glass: Dye glass to make colored glass blocks.
- Tinted glass: Combine glass with an amethyst shard.

How to avoid losing placed glass
Ordinary glass does not drop itself when broken with a tool that lacks Silk Touch. If you want to pick up and reuse a placed glass block, break it with a Silk Touch-enchanted tool; otherwise, plan the placement as permanent. Minecraft Wiki: Glass

The basic recipe is smelting sand, and the Bedrock creator documentation describes furnace recipes in terms of inputs, outputs, and station tags. Interface features can vary by edition: Minecraft’s official crafting article says the furnace and smoker recipe-book feature is available in Java Edition.
