To make it night in Minecraft with a command, enter:
/time set night
The command sets the current in-game time to night. You need permission to use commands; how to enable that permission depends on whether you play Java or Bedrock Edition.

Enter the command
- Open the command interface for your edition and world.
- Type
/time set nightand submit it. Minecraft’s official command guide and Microsoft’s Bedrock command reference listnightas a valid value for the time-setting command.
If the command is rejected, check that commands or cheats are enabled and that you have permission to use them in the world.
Enable command access in single-player

Microsoft’s Bedrock reference also marks /time as requiring cheats. In a shared world or server, access depends on the permissions assigned to you; the official pages cited here do not establish a complete current permissions setup for multiplayer.

Use a number instead of “night” (optional)
You do not need to calculate a time value to use /time set night. If you prefer a specific point in the cycle, Minecraft Education documentation gives /time set 16000 as 10:00 p.m.; it also identifies 0 as 6:00 a.m. and 23000 as 5:00 a.m. These examples come from Minecraft Education material, so treat them as reference points for that edition rather than a guarantee for every version.
Minecraft Education material describes a full Minecraft day as 24,000 ticks, or 20 minutes of play. The day length is useful context, but it does not change the command you need to set night.

/time set night changes the current in-game time; it does not, by itself, express a request to stop the day-night cycle. Keeping the world at night requires a separate daylight-cycle control. The official references cited above do not establish the exact behavior of that control across all editions and versions, so check documentation for your specific release before relying on an additional command.
