Fortnite also has a separate friend-invite privacy setting. The Epic Games Store website does not let you add friends directly.
Where to manage Epic friends
The available controls depend on the interface. Epic documents the Launcher as the route for removing, blocking, and unblocking people. The Launcher and Mobile App support adding friends and changing communication settings; Fortnite has its own Friend Invite permission. Epic’s instructions do not establish that every control is available in every interface.

How to add a friend
- In the Epic Games Launcher: Open Friends, choose Add friend, and search for the player’s Epic Games display name.
- Select the matching profile and send the friend request.
- In the Epic Games Mobile App: Open Social and follow the add-friend flow to search for the player and send a request.
Epic says an account can have up to 1,000 friends; this is the limit Epic currently states and may change. Adding friends directly through the Epic Games Store website is not supported. See Epic’s instructions for adding friends.
How to remove, block, or unblock someone
In the Epic Games Launcher, open Friends, select the player, and open the additional-options menu. Choose Remove/Unfriend to end the friendship, or choose Block to prevent contact. Confirm the selection.

To unblock someone, search for the blocked player in the Launcher and select Unblock. Unblocking does not restore the friendship automatically; add the person again if you want them back on your Friends list. Epic also says a player blocked on PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo is blocked in the Launcher. See Epic’s block and unblock instructions.
How to stop or limit friend requests
Epic Games Launcher and Mobile App
Open the social or profile controls, then go to Communication settings. Choose who can send you friend requests: Anyone, Friends of your Friends, or Nobody. In the Mobile App, Epic locates Communication settings under Social. Details are in Epic’s social settings guide.

Open Account and Privacy, choose Social Privacy, set Friend Invite permission to No One, then apply the change. If parental controls lock this setting, a parent or guardian may need to review the account’s controls. Epic’s guidance is at its page about turning off friend requests.
Why friend invitations may not work
Epic lists several possible causes for being unable to send or receive an invite:

- The recipient has reached 500 incoming friend requests.
- The sender has 500 or more outgoing requests pending.
- A request between the two players is already pending.
- The other player is blocked on an external platform.
These are possible causes identified by Epic, not a diagnosis of a particular account. Check for an existing request or a platform block, and review pending requests if you are near a listed limit. See Epic’s invite troubleshooting guidance.
Cancel an outgoing request that is hard to find
If the Launcher does not display all outgoing requests, open Add friend, search for the player, and select Cancel Request if it appears. Epic documents this workaround in its outgoing-request help page.

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

Friend settings and younger players
Epic’s Young Player Policy advises young users not to share identifying personal details online and notes that social features can be controlled in settings. Account age and parental controls can affect which social settings are available. See the Epic Young Player Policy.
