In the standard Legion campaign, pick up Khadgar’s Discovery from Archmage Khadgar in the Violet Citadel in Legion Dalaran. Follow its objectives into Suramar; Uniting the Isles is for unlocking Legion World Quests, not for identifying the Suramar starting quest.
Where do I pick up the first Suramar quest?
- Travel to Legion Dalaran. Make sure you are in the Legion version of the city.
- Go to the Violet Citadel and speak with Archmage Khadgar.
- Accept Khadgar’s Discovery, then follow its objectives. The opening chain proceeds through Magic Message and Trail of Echoes, then continues with The Only Way Out is Through, The Nightborne Pact, and Arcane Thirst. Blizzard’s Suramar guide describes the introductory series as the route into Suramar quests; the quest record lists the chain.
Why doesn’t Khadgar offer the quest?
First check whether Khadgar’s Discovery is already complete. The quest record documents this in-game completion check:
/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(39985))
If it returns true, look for the next available Suramar quest rather than trying to accept the introduction again. If it is not complete and Khadgar still has no quest, the available evidence does not establish a universal level threshold or prerequisite list for every current character state and game mode.

Do I need Uniting the Isles first?
Not to identify the Suramar starting quest. Uniting the Isles is associated with unlocking Legion World Quests. Blizzard’s historical guide says it requires Friendly reputation with five Broken Isles factions, including the Nightfallen; that is a separate World Quest requirement, not the starting instruction for Khadgar’s Discovery. Blizzard’s World Quests guide covers that unlock.
Does the same route apply in Legion Remix?
Legion Remix is a time-limited event that adds Legion content in phases. Blizzard’s announcement schedules original Legion content first and the Rise of the Nightfallen phase later. Check the phase currently active for your character and the campaign interface’s available quests; the standard Khadgar route is not confirmed to work identically for every Remix character. Blizzard’s Legion Remix announcement provides the event schedule.

What about level requirements and Ancient Mana?
Blizzard’s 2016 overview presented Suramar as level 110 content and described Khadgar offering a quest in Dalaran at max level. That is historical Legion-era context, not a verified universal minimum for current characters or modes. Blizzard’s original zone overview records that context.
Ancient Mana is relevant later in the story, not to picking up Khadgar’s Discovery. Blizzard’s 2017 Pathfinder guide specifies a later quest turn-in of at least 2,000 Ancient Mana; it should not be treated as a starting requirement. Blizzard’s Pathfinder guide explains that later requirement.
