To open the robotics lab in Modern Warfare 4’s Operation Shopping Hacks DMZ mission, you must place four intact K9 Battery Cores into the K9 CORE TERMINAL. The cores come primarily from K9 robot dogs at NuriGO Mall, while the keypad code for the underground route is obtained by hacking a laptop and is different in every match. Damaged or destroyed cores never advance the terminal counter, so the timing of each kill and loot matters.
What mission contains the Robot Core objective?
The objective is part of the Operation Shopping Hacks story mission, set in and beneath NuriGO Mall on the Hajin map. Select it from the Story Missions tab before deploying. The route includes dark interiors, North Korean soldiers, K9 robot dogs and hostile drones outside, so bring Night Vision Goggles, armor plates and a weapon that can handle groups, as recommended by the published walkthroughs.

How do I get the security keypad code?
The keypad code is generated for your current match. You must hack the open laptop in the mall encampment and read the note it produces; a code copied from another player or guide will not work in your match.
- Clear the shops around the encampment so you can interact with the laptop safely.
- Start the hack and wait until it finishes.
- Record the four-digit code shown on the resulting note.
How do I reach the underground Security Annex?
Leave the mall and follow the underground parking ramp at Entrance 36. At the door marked “UNLOCKS VIA KEYPAD – LOCKED,” enter the four digits from your own laptop note. Inside the Security Annex, interact with the generator and choose “TURN ON THE GENERATOR.”

When the timing marker reaches the target zone, pull the cord. Pulling early damages you, so repeat the timing input until the generator starts and the lights return. Search the annex afterward: a container there can hold one K9 Battery Core.
Where are the K9 Battery Cores?
The main farming area is the NuriGO Mall concourse and atrium, where K9 robot dogs patrol. Published guides report that the dogs drop K9 Battery Cores, with one possible additional core in the Security Annex container. You need four usable cores in total, regardless of whether one came from the container.

K9 dogs self-destruct shortly after they die. If the blast occurs before you loot the body, the item becomes “DESTROYED K9 BATTERY CORE,” which the terminal cannot accept.

How do I power the lab door?
Carry the intact cores to the K9 CORE TERMINAL beside the lab entrance. Cores in your backpack do not count toward the objective.
- Open the terminal.
- Move one intact core into each of its four slots.
- Continue until the display reads 4/4.
- Wait for the terminal surge and the “Wait for the Lab Door to Open” objective to complete.
The game’s item description calls the core “Used to power robots and door circuitry.”
What do I do after the robotics lab opens?
Enter when the “NURIGO MALL ROBOTICS LAB OPENED” banner appears. The remaining objectives are a hack-and-defend sequence followed by a roof extraction.

Hack five computers
Find and hack five laptops in the lab. Once the network breach begins, soldiers enter. Watch the “Computers Running” counter while defending the room.

Keep the breach at 5/5
If the counter drops below 5/5, find the laptop that stopped, restart it and return to defense. The breach completes only after all five computers remain operational through the attack and the servers reboot.
Take the Bio-agent Sample
When the objective changes to “Loot the Lab’s Vault,” enter the opened vault and collect the Bio-agent Sample from the bench.
Fulton from the roof
- Leave through the garage and unlock the exit deadbolt.
- Ride the escalator to the plaza.
- Use the yellow ascender rope on the mall’s outer wall.
- Cross to the upper roof and climb the ladder.
- Activate the AIR TRNSP Fulton crate, then interact with it again to attach yourself.
The walkthrough reports an extraction countdown of about 10 seconds. After it finishes, the mission-complete and extraction-successful screens should appear.

Why are my cores not counting?
- The counter remains 0/4: the cores are still in your backpack. Insert them into the K9 CORE TERMINAL.
- A core is rejected: check its name. “DESTROYED K9 BATTERY CORE” is unusable.
- The dog exploded: the drop was likely destroyed; farm another K9 instead of carrying the damaged item.
- The keypad fails: return to the encampment laptop and use the code generated in this match.
- The lab objective stalls: inspect the “Computers Running” counter and restart any stopped laptop before continuing the defense.
What rewards and item value should I expect?
AllThingsHow’s October 21, 2026 walkthrough reports a $5,000 Story Mission Payout after a successful Fulton extraction. Destructoid reports that Battery Cores sell for 200 DMZ Cash and found no practical use for them beyond this mission. Both figures may change with later patches, so treat them as guide-reported values rather than permanent economy rules.
The available walkthroughs were updated October 21, 2026, and no directly relevant official Activision or Infinity Ward mission page was identified. Route details, labels and rewards should therefore be rechecked after major updates.

Can I bring Robot Cores into the mission from another match?
No confirmed route supports carrying progress between matches. The keypad is match-specific, and the objective is advanced by loading usable cores into that deployment’s terminal.

Does every K9 dog drop an intact core?
The guides describe K9s as the repeatable source, but a self-destruct can convert a drop into a destroyed core. Plan for extra kills rather than assuming the first four dogs will provide usable items.

What equipment makes the dark mall section easier?
Night Vision Goggles improve visibility in the unpowered areas, while armor plates help against soldiers and the dogs’ blast. A rifle also gives you the safest distance for securing intact drops.
Can I leave after taking the Bio-agent Sample without using Fulton?
The reported completion route requires the roof AIR TRNSP Fulton interaction. Simply taking the sample does not finish the extraction objective.
