During a Roblox experience or Studio test session, open the Developer Console by pressing F9, entering /console in chat, or using the in-game menu: Settings → Developer Console → Open. Which options work can depend on the device and session.
Three ways to open the console
Use the F9 shortcut
- Join a Roblox experience or start a test session in Studio.
- Press F9. Roblox lists this as the default Developer Console binding for keyboard and mouse.
Enter the chat command
- Open chat within the experience.
- Type
/consoleand submit the message.
Open it from the in-game menu
- Open the Roblox in-game menu.
- Select Settings.
- Scroll to Developer Console, then select Open.

Which method works on your device?
F9 is the documented shortcut for keyboard and mouse. Roblox’s input binding table lists no default touch or gamepad binding for the Developer Console. The chat method requires chat to be available, and the menu method requires the Developer Console option to appear in Settings.
Roblox does not establish that chat or the Settings option is available in every experience or on every device. Its experience controls support page explains that controls are features enabled for a specific experience, including communication controls such as chat. If one route is unavailable, try another documented option supported by your session. If none is available, Roblox’s documentation does not identify a universal workaround for that device and session.

What the Developer Console shows
Roblox describes the Developer Console as a debugging tool for testing in Studio or running an experience in production. It displays log messages and errors similar to Studio’s Output window, along with diagnostic information about memory and network activity. The debugging documentation also covers client and server output, memory use, and network performance. The Command Bar is available in Studio and in the Developer Console.
