You can pay for Steam games without a credit card by redeeming a physical Steam gift card or Steam Wallet code to your account, then using the Wallet balance at checkout. You can also use another payment option if Steam offers it in your country. A digital gift card works when someone sends one, but the sender must pay for it using a method Steam accepts.
Pay with a physical Steam gift card or Wallet code
A physical Steam gift card or Steam Wallet code loads prepaid value into your Steam Wallet; it does not pay for a game directly at checkout. Steam says its gift cards can be redeemed for purchases on Steam, and Wallet codes are converted to the currency of the account’s Wallet when redeemed, regardless of where the code was purchased. Get a digital gift card from someone else
A friend or family member can send you a digital Steam gift card through Steam. After you accept it, its value is credited to your Wallet. The sender needs to pay for the gift card with a payment method Steam accepts; existing Steam Wallet funds cannot be used to buy a digital gift card. Steam’s available payment methods vary by country and can change. At checkout, check the options shown for your account: if a non-credit-card method is listed and you can use it, you may be able to pay directly without first adding Wallet funds. Know where a refund may go
Steam says some payment methods cannot return a refund to the original method; for those purchases, refunds can only be issued to the Steam Wallet. Keep your account and code within Steam’s rules
- Use a code from a source you trust, and check its terms before buying or redeeming it.
- Do not disguise your residence to change pricing or bypass geographic restrictions. Valve’s agreement prohibits using an IP proxy or other methods to do so and says account access may be terminated. Steam Subscriber Agreement
