Destiny 2 calls its hoverboard a Skimmer; the first model, the Allstar Vector, was originally earned through the Guardian Games quest Drop In. In 2024 and again in 2025, players could collect a temporary Allstar Vector from Eva Levante at the Tower, then complete Drop In to keep it permanently. Bungie’s published instructions cover those events only, so whether a new player can unlock it in 2026 is not confirmed by the sources available here.
What “hoverboard” means in Destiny 2
Skimmer is the in-game vehicle category players often call a hoverboard. Bungie introduced it as an Exotic vehicle type that shares the Sparrow slot and can perform tricks and grind rails. The Allstar Vector was the first Skimmer, introduced for Guardian Games All-Stars in 2024. Bungie’s February 29, 2024 announcement describes the vehicle and its event unlock.

How the permanent unlock worked
- At the Tower, speak with Eva Levante and complete the Guardian Games onboarding quest.
- Collect the temporary Allstar Vector from Eva.
- Complete the Guardian Games quest Drop In before the event ends. Bungie said completing it would make the Allstar Vector a permanent collection unlock.
These are the historical steps Bungie published for Guardian Games, not confirmation that Eva currently offers the quest. The Allstar Vector was an event reward; Bungie also mentioned a separate Skimmer style inspired by a Destiny weapon in Eververse, but did not say a store purchase was needed for the Allstar Vector.
How the quest requirements changed by year
Bungie published different progress guidance for the two Guardian Games events. Treat each set of instructions as specific to its year rather than combining them into one current quest route.

Bungie’s March 6, 2025 Guardian Games preview confirmed that the Allstar Vector would return temporarily during that event and that Drop In could make it permanent.

The official information cited here confirms an unlock route in 2024 and a return in 2025, but does not establish a 2026 acquisition route or confirm that Drop In is currently available. Check Eva Levante’s event quest in-game and Bungie’s latest Guardian Games announcement before relying on an unlock method. If the quest is not offered, these historical instructions do not show another current way to earn the Skimmer.
