For the most dependable documented setup, stream Bloodborne from a PS4 or PS5 to your Steam Deck using chiaki-ng. Sony requires a PlayStation console for Remote Play, so the Deck acts as the screen and controller while the console runs the game. If you do not have a suitable console, ShadPS4 offers an experimental local-emulation route, but its developers warn that compatibility and emulation issues remain.
Can you play Bloodborne on Steam Deck?
Yes, but the available routes are not equivalent to installing a native Steam game. You can stream the game from a PlayStation console with chiaki-ng, or try running it locally through the early-stage ShadPS4 emulator. No verified plug-and-play native Steam Deck installation is established here.

Sony’s PS Remote Play page says a PS4 or PS5 is required. Valve’s compatibility ratings apply to reviewed Steam titles; they do not validate this non-Steam emulation setup. The choice therefore comes down to whether you have a console, how much setup and troubleshooting you are willing to do, and whether your network can support streaming.
Choose the route that fits your setup
| Your situation | Route | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| You own or can access a PS4 or PS5 that can run Bloodborne | chiaki-ng Remote Play | The console runs the game and streams it to the Deck; you need console access and a good network. |
| You have no PlayStation console and are comfortable troubleshooting | ShadPS4 local emulation | The Deck runs an experimental emulator. Compatibility and performance can vary by build and setup. |
| You want a guaranteed, standard Steam Deck install | No verified route established | Neither console streaming nor experimental emulation is a native Steam release. |
Stream Bloodborne from a PS4 or PS5 with chiaki-ng
This is the most straightforward documented option if you already have access to a console that can run Bloodborne. Sony’s Remote Play service uses the console to run the game; the Steam Deck connects as a remote client. Sony describes Remote Play as usable where a high-speed internet connection is available, but the actual experience depends on network quality and may be subject to content or usage restrictions.

- 1TB NVMe SSD
- 1280 x 800 HDR OLED display with premium anti-glare etched glass, 7.4" Diagonal display size up to 90Hz refresh rate
- Wi-Fi 6E
- 50Whr battery; 3-12 hours of gameplay (content-dependent)
- Carrying case with removable liner
What you need
- A PS4 or PS5 capable of running Bloodborne, with the game available on that console.
- A Steam Deck with chiaki-ng installed and configured using the project’s current setup guide.
- A network connection suitable for Remote Play. For play away from home, the console and Deck must also be able to connect over the network.
Setup outline
- On the PlayStation, enable Remote Play. Use Sony’s current console instructions because menu labels can change with system software.
- If you want to wake the console remotely, configure the console’s rest-mode networking settings as described in the chiaki-ng guide.
- Install and configure chiaki-ng on the Steam Deck, then pair it with the console by following the project’s current instructions.
- Launch the console session from the Deck and start Bloodborne on the PlayStation.
Pairing screens and exact steps can change as chiaki-ng and console software are updated, so follow the current guide rather than relying on an older walkthrough.
Run Bloodborne locally with ShadPS4
ShadPS4 is an early PlayStation 4 emulator, and its project documentation lists Bloodborne among the games it can run. That does not mean the game is reliably playable on every Steam Deck or emulator build. The ShadPS4 README describes the project, while its user guide warns: “shadPS4 is still early in development. Many games do not work, and the few that do work usually face various emulation issues.”

The project is still changing. Its releases page showed a prerelease dated October 4, 2026, and v0.13.0 notes included a Bloodborne speedup fix. Those facts show active development, not a guaranteed frame rate, stable performance, or consistent result across Deck models.

DeckBorne is a community SteamOS workflow for installing ShadPS4 and configuring game files supplied by the user. Its published requirements apply to that installer method, not to every possible ShadPS4 setup:
Rank #3
- Steam Deck running SteamOS and an internet connection.
- 33 GB of internal Deck storage, as stated by DeckBorne.
- Bloodborne files supplied by the user, including the v1.09 update and The Old Hunters DLC.
- A 64 GB USB stick if using DeckBorne’s USB installation method.
DeckBorne says it does not provide or link game files. Its documentation does not establish a legal ruling or provide a general game-dumping procedure, so this article does not make legal claims or explain how to obtain copyrighted files. DeckBorne also says the LCD model needs more testing; its workflow should not be treated as validated across both LCD and OLED Decks. Check the project’s current instructions and ShadPS4’s current compatibility information and releases before attempting local emulation.

If you already own a suitable PlayStation and want the least emulator troubleshooting, start with chiaki-ng streaming. If you have no console and accept an evolving, hands-on setup, ShadPS4 is an option to investigate—but not a plug-and-play substitute. There is no controlled comparison establishing that one route delivers a particular frame rate or latency on Steam Deck, and no authoritative Steam Deck-specific Bloodborne performance figure is established here.
Quick Recap
Rank #4
- Valve is entering the gaming console marketplace with the new Steam Deck, a console geared towards PC gamers. The Steam Deck can be docked to a monitor, and used as a PC, or docked to a TV.
- Players can play a huge variety of games at any time with the comfort of a console and the freedom of a PC. Not anti-glare screen.
- Like the name suggests, the Steam Deck will include upgraded 1TB storage, and will include a carrying case. A micro SD slot will also enable expanded storage.
- Valve partnered with AMD to create a specialized APU optimized for handheld gaming, and Valve says the chip will deliver performance to run AAA gaming titles.
- The Steam Deck is outfitted with a 7-inch touchscreen, and two trackpads under the control sticks that allow gamers to operate games never designed outside of mouse and keyboard capabilities.
