To play Blooket in multiplayer, a teacher (or another host with a Blooket account) starts a live-capable game mode and shares its Game ID, QR code, or join link. Players open play.blooket.com or the shared link, enter the code when asked, choose a nickname, select a Blook while waiting, and answer questions after the host starts the session. Students do not need Blooket accounts to join a hosted live game. The important planning decisions are choosing a mode that supports live play and checking its player limit for the host’s plan.
What does multiplayer mean in Blooket?
In Blooket, multiplayer normally means a host-led live game in which everyone joins the same session and plays while the host controls when it begins. The host selects a question set, chooses a mode marked as live or hostable, starts the game, and distributes the joining details. Students then enter the same session from their own browser-capable devices.

Those are different from a live classroom game: a student may complete assigned questions independently rather than competing in a session that a host starts in real time. Check the mode’s current listing before planning an event, because availability can change for seasonal or Plus-only options.
How does a host start a live Blooket game?
The host needs a Blooket account. Blooket’s basic flow is to find or create a question set, choose a game mode that supports live hosting, configure the options shown for that mode, and launch the game.

- Sign in as the host. Open Blooket in a current web browser on a compatible internet-connected device. A teacher account is required to host; students joining the session do not have to create accounts.
- Choose a question set. Select a set from Blooket’s library or create your own. The question set supplies the questions used by the selected mode.
- Pick a live-capable mode. Confirm that the mode is listed as live/hostable rather than solo or homework-only. Classic, Racing, and Gold Quest are examples of modes Blooket lists for live play.
- Review the mode settings. Different modes expose different controls and may have different player caps. If the class is large, check the individual mode listing and the current plan details before starting.
- Start the game. Launch the session. Blooket displays the information players need to enter, including a Game ID and, where available, a QR code or join link.
- Share one joining method. Show the Game ID, display the QR code for scanning, or send the join link through the class channel you normally use. Students can use whichever of these methods is easiest for their device.
- Wait for players and begin. Watch the lobby as names appear. Players can choose a Blook while they wait. Start the game when the intended group has joined.
What should a host prepare before class?
Have the question set and live mode selected before students arrive, and decide how you will distribute the code or link. For a large group, compare the selected mode’s own maximum with the host account’s allowance rather than relying on a general plan headline. Seasonal modes and Plus-only modes can have separate availability rules.
How do students join a Blooket multiplayer game?
A student can join without registering for a Blooket account. The host must already have started or be hosting the intended game and must provide the current session details.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Open the joining page. Visit play.blooket.com, or open the join link supplied by the host.
- Enter the Game ID. If the page asks for a code, type the Game ID shown by the host. A QR code supplied by the host provides another route to the same session.
- Choose a display name. Enter a nickname, or use the randomly generated name option if that is offered on the join screen. Use a classroom-appropriate name that lets the host recognize you.
- Select a Blook. Pick a Blook in the waiting area. This is a lobby choice; gameplay starts only after the host begins the session.
- Wait for the host. Keep the page open while the host checks the lobby. You participate once the host starts the game.
The same process works whether the host shares the code verbally, posts a link, or displays a QR code. A student account is optional for live joining; an account can unlock additional Blooket features, but it is not a prerequisite for entering the hosted game.
Do students need a Blooket account to play?
No. Blooket’s student account FAQ states, “Nope! Only the teacher needs an account.” In practical terms, a student can open the joining page, enter the live Game ID, select a name and Blook, and play as a guest.

Creating an account is optional and is separate from the teacher’s hosting requirement. The host should sign in before launching the game; students who only need to join that live session can skip account creation.
| Role | Account status for a live hosted game | What the person does |
|---|---|---|
| Teacher or host | Required | Chooses the set and mode, starts the session, and shares the Game ID, QR code, or link. |
| Student or player | Not required | Joins through play.blooket.com or the shared link, chooses a name and Blook, and plays. |
Which Blooket modes support multiplayer?
Mode choice determines whether a game can run live, independently, or in both formats. Blooket’s mode guide covers more than 15 modes, but the catalog and access rules can change, so verify the current listing at the time you host.

| Mode example | Format identified by Blooket | Planning implication |
|---|---|---|
| Classic | Live | Suitable for a host-led group session. |
| Racing | Live | Suitable for a host-led group session. |
| Gold Quest | Live | Suitable for a host-led group session. |
| Crazy Kingdom | Solo/homework | Not a live multiplayer choice in the cited mode guide. |
| Study | Solo/homework | Designed for independent or assigned work rather than a live lobby. |
Some modes are available in more than one format. The mode page is the authority for the particular option you see, especially when a mode is seasonal or restricted to Plus. Do not promise students that every mode in the library can host a live room.
How should I compare two live modes?
Use the same questions for each candidate:
- Is the mode currently available for live hosting, or only for solo/homework play?
- What are the minimum and maximum players for that specific mode and plan?
- How does it pace questions and interaction for your group?
- Does its expected session length fit the time available?
- Is it seasonal or Plus-only, and will that restriction affect your class?
The official mode overview supplies these distinctions, but it does not make every mode available on every plan. Recheck the listing immediately before a special event or tournament.

How many players can join one Blooket game?
Blooket’s help material lists a maximum of 60 players on the Free plan and up to 300 players on Plus for many live modes. Those figures are plan-level headline limits, not a guarantee that every mode accepts the same number. The mode guide identifies exceptions in which a particular mode has a lower Plus maximum.
For a class near the limit, verify three things in order: the host’s current subscription tier, the individual mode’s stated maximum, and the number of students who will actually join. If a mode’s own listing is lower than the plan headline, the mode-specific limit controls. Treat the 60 and 300 figures as the values Blooket publishes for the relevant plan context, not as universal caps for every game.
What device and internet connection do players need?
Blooket says it works through most web browsers. Its Terms require compatible device(s) and internet access, but the available official material does not specify a required device model, browser version, operating system, or minimum connection speed. A phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop can therefore be considered only if it can run a compatible browser and reach the service; no particular classroom computer is mandated by the published requirements.
Because no minimum bandwidth figure is published, avoid promising that a specific network configuration will support a certain number of players. The host should use the network and devices available at the venue and confirm that participants can open the joining page before the session begins.

What should I do if the Game ID or join link does not work?
Blooket’s normal joining instructions establish two initial checks rather than a full technical troubleshooting procedure. First, confirm that the host has started or is hosting the intended game. Second, make sure the player is using the current Game ID or link that the host has shared for that session.
- Ask the host to display the code again and compare it character by character with what the player entered.
- If a link was copied earlier, request the host’s current link instead of relying on an old message.
- Confirm that the player is on the Blooket joining page or has opened the shared link in a browser with internet access.
- Check whether the selected mode is actually live-capable; a solo/homework-only mode will not create the expected multiplayer lobby.
- If the room is full, compare the number of entrants with the mode-specific limit and the host’s plan allowance.
The official pages reviewed do not publish a detailed browser, bandwidth, or network-error checklist. If those checks do not resolve the problem, the host should consult Blooket’s current help information rather than assuming a particular device or speed requirement.
How can a teacher organize a live session for a large group?
Use a short operational sequence so the joining details and capacity are settled before students begin:
- Count the expected players, including any co-teachers or observers who may enter as participants.
- Open the chosen mode’s current listing and note its own maximum, then compare it with the host plan’s allowance.
- Prepare the question set and select the live mode before sharing anything.
- Display one authoritative Game ID or QR code, and send the matching link only if needed.
- Keep the lobby visible while students choose names and Blooks.
- Start only after the intended players are present and the mode is confirmed as live.
This approach avoids a common planning error: treating a plan-wide player figure as if it applied identically to every mode. It also keeps students from joining an outdated room if the host changes the game during setup.

Is Blooket multiplayer different from asynchronous play?
Yes. Live multiplayer requires a host to launch a session and players to join the same lobby, while asynchronous or homework play lets learners work without participating in a real-time room. A question set can therefore be reused for different purposes, but the mode and launch path determine whether students see a live Game ID and waiting lobby.
If your goal is a simultaneous class activity, choose a mode explicitly marked for live hosting. If learners need flexible timing, choose an available solo or homework format instead and follow that mode’s assignment flow.
What should I verify before relying on a mode or plan?
Blooket’s Terms were last updated January 14, 2026. Service details such as mode availability, seasonal access, Plus-only status, account flows, and player limits can change, so check the current mode guide and plan information immediately before a high-stakes class, club event, or competition.
- Confirm the mode is still listed as live/hostable.
- Confirm its current player maximum, not just the general plan maximum.
- Confirm whether the mode is seasonal or Plus-only.
- Confirm that the host can sign in and that the planned devices have browser and internet access.
- Keep the current Game ID, QR code, or link visible until all intended players have joined.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I join a Blooket game from a phone or tablet?
Blooket states that the service works through most web browsers and requires a compatible internet-connected device. It does not publish a required phone model, tablet model, or minimum browser version, so compatibility depends on whether the device can open the joining page successfully.
Why is a mode I remember missing from the live-game list?
Modes can be limited to solo/homework play, seasonal availability, or a Plus tier. Check the mode’s current listing instead of assuming that a mode available in the library is also available for live hosting.
Can a student host a game without a teacher account?
Blooket’s published account guidance says the teacher needs an account to host, while students can join without accounts. A student who wants to host should therefore confirm the current account rules rather than relying on the guest joining flow.
