For Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (2022), the clearest confirmed option is two-player local multiplayer on Xbox: the official Xbox listing advertises “Xbox local multiplayer (2-2)” and “Shared/split screen.” It does not specify which modes support a second local player. The official pages reviewed do not confirm split-screen on PlayStation or PC, so check support for your platform and intended mode before setting up a session.
This is the 2022 game, the sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare—not the 2009 game also called Modern Warfare 2.

Can two people play Modern Warfare II on one Xbox?
Yes, according to the Xbox store listing, which advertises local multiplayer for two players and shared/split screen. That is the strongest official confirmation of couch multiplayer for this game.

Does MW2 have split-screen on PS5 or PC?
Split-screen support is not established for PlayStation or PC by the official pages reviewed. The PlayStation product page identifies the 2022 game, while Activision identifies PC among the game’s platforms; neither source confirms local split-screen. Do not assume that Xbox’s listing applies to other platforms.
Cross-platform online play and local split-screen are different features. Support for playing online with people on other systems does not establish that two players can share one screen on your console or PC.

How to try local multiplayer on Xbox
The Xbox store confirms the capability, but the official sources reviewed do not document a button-by-button join sequence or name a supported playlist. Use these as cautious general steps, not a verified setup procedure:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Install and start Modern Warfare II on Xbox. Activision’s installation and setup guide covers installation, not how a second local player joins.
- Enter Multiplayer and choose a mode you want to try.
- Connect the second controller and follow any in-game prompt to add a local player, if one appears.
- If no join prompt appears, do not assume the setup is broken: the Xbox listing does not say which modes support local play. Check current, platform-specific instructions for the mode you intend to use.
Does Spec Ops support split-screen?
Activision describes Special Ops as a narrative-driven co-op experience. That confirms co-op gameplay, but it does not confirm same-screen local co-op. The official sources reviewed do not establish whether Special Ops supports split-screen, so verify this mode separately rather than treating “co-op” as proof of couch play.
