No Man’s Sky is announced for native iPhone play, with controller support and redesigned touch controls. Hello Games gives the iOS release date as October 28, 2026, while Apple’s US App Store listing currently says “Expected Oct 29, 2026.” Check the live listing near launch for the date, availability, device requirements, and download details.
What you need to play on iPhone
- An iPhone that meets the requirements shown on the current App Store listing.
- The native No Man’s Sky app, once it is available in your region.
- A compatible controller if you want physical controls. A controller is optional because the game also supports touch controls.
Hello Games says the iOS download is under 4GB; check the App Store’s displayed size when downloading.

The release date differs between the two official sources: Hello Games announced October 28, 2026, and Apple’s US listing shows “Expected Oct 29, 2026.” The listing is the place to check current availability, including the date shown for your region.

Apple’s US listing specifies iOS 26.0 or later and an A12 Bionic or later device, and identifies iPhone XS and newer. Hello Games’ announcement instead highlights iPhone 11 and newer. Since those descriptions differ, check your exact iPhone model against the live listing rather than relying only on the broad model range.

Set up a controller
- Get the game: Open the App Store, find No Man’s Sky, and download the native app when it becomes available. Apple’s US listing describes a free beginning followed by a one-time full-game unlock; it listed the unlock at $19.99 in the US storefront when checked. Price and availability can vary by region or change.
- Pair your controller: Follow the controller maker’s iPhone pairing instructions. Xbox documents Bluetooth and wired connections for compatible mobile devices. Hello Games confirms controller support but does not specify a required model or provide an in-game pairing walkthrough.
- Launch and play: Open the game and use the connected controller. If you prefer not to use a physical pad, select the game’s touch controls.
Xbox lists Xbox and PlayStation controllers among those supported for Xbox mobile gaming; NVIDIA lists Xbox, DualSense/DualShock 4, and MFi Bluetooth controllers for GeForce NOW on iPhone and iPad. These are platform compatibility references, not tests confirming every model works with the native No Man’s Sky app. Choose based on your exact iPhone and iOS compatibility, connection method, and whether the controller fits your preferred setup.
Can you stream No Man’s Sky to an iPhone instead?
Cloud gaming is a possible way to play some games on an iPhone, but current availability of No Man’s Sky in Xbox Cloud Gaming or GeForce NOW was not established by the sources available here. Check each service’s live game catalog before relying on streaming.

For context, Xbox says cloud availability varies by region, plan, and platform. NVIDIA’s iPhone setup uses Safari; its requirements specify iOS 15.4 or later, a gamepad for gameplay, and recommend 5 GHz Wi-Fi. The service’s supported-game and linked-store requirements still apply. These streaming requirements are separate from the native app’s iOS 26.0 and A12 Bionic requirements.
