There is no verified, supported way for a student to bypass a Roblox block on a school-managed Chromebook. If the school administrator has disabled Google Play or blocked Roblox, normal Chromebook settings cannot remove that restriction. The reliable options are to request permission, use a device that you own and control, or play on a school-approved device or at an allowed time.
Roblox on Chromebook is delivered through the Android app. It requires a supported ChromeOS device, an enabled Google Play Store, and—on a managed school Chromebook—administrator permission. See Roblox’s Chromebook troubleshooting guidance and Google’s Chromebook Android-app instructions.

First, identify what is actually blocked
On the Chromebook, open the system settings by selecting the time in the bottom-right corner, then choose Settings → Apps → Manage Google Play preferences.
- The option is available: the Chromebook may support Android apps, although the school can still prevent Roblox or other apps from being installed.
- The option is missing: the Chromebook may not support Android apps, may use an edition or configuration without Play Store support, or may be restricted by school management. Google specifically notes that managed school or work Chromebooks can prevent users from adding the Play Store or downloading Android apps.
- The Play Store opens but Roblox cannot be installed: the school administrator may have blocked the app, app downloads, or Android apps generally.
Visiting the Google Play Store website in Chrome does not prove that the Chromebook supports Android apps. Play Store support depends on the Chromebook model and its management policy.

5 legitimate options when Roblox is blocked
1. Ask the school administrator to enable Roblox
This is the only documented way to change the restriction on a school-managed Chromebook. Ask the school’s IT department, teacher, or administrator whether they can enable Android apps and permit Roblox for your account or device.
A useful request should include:
- the Chromebook’s asset number or serial number, if the school uses one;
- the exact error message or a screenshot;
- whether Manage Google Play preferences appears in Settings;
- the reason access is needed, such as an approved club, lesson, or supervised activity; and
- the times or account for which access would be appropriate.
Google Workspace for Education administrators control which services students can access on school accounts and school-issued Chromebooks. The administrator may decide that Roblox is not appropriate for the device or network, and that policy cannot be overridden through ordinary student settings. 2. Use a personal Chromebook that supports Android apps
If you have permission to use a personal device, a non-managed Chromebook with Play Store support can run Roblox through the Android app. This is different from signing into a school-owned Chromebook: a personal device that is not enrolled in school management is not subject to the school Chromebook’s app policy.

On the personal Chromebook, confirm that the device is updated and that Settings → Apps → Manage Google Play preferences is available. Then:

- Open the Google Play Store.
- Search for Roblox.
- Install the Roblox Android app published through Google Play.
- Open Roblox and sign in to your account.
Roblox’s Chromebook support instructions require ChromeOS to be updated and Google Play Store access to be enabled. Roblox’s published operating-system requirements also list ChromeOS version 53 or later, but that old minimum should not be treated as a guarantee of compatibility: the current device, Play Store availability, and administrator policy still matter. 3. Play on another supported personal device
If the school Chromebook cannot run Android apps or remains managed, use another device that supports Roblox and that you are allowed to use. Depending on Roblox’s current support for the device and operating system, this might be a personal phone, tablet, Windows computer, Mac, or another supported platform.
This avoids changing the school Chromebook rather than trying to defeat its controls. Check Roblox’s current requirements for the specific device before installing anything, and use only official app stores or Roblox’s official distribution channels.

Some schools may have a separate loaner, club device, classroom computer, or supervised gaming activity with different software rules. Ask a teacher or the IT department whether Roblox is permitted on any school-owned device and under what conditions.

Do not assume that a different Chromebook in the building is unrestricted. A replacement school device may be managed by the same administrator and may have the same Roblox block. The relevant question is whether the school has explicitly approved Roblox on that device, account, or activity.
5. Play later on an allowed network and device
If the block applies only to a school-issued Chromebook or school account, the straightforward option is to wait until you are using a permitted personal device outside school—for example, at home, subject to your family’s rules and the network owner’s permission.
Changing where you connect does not unlock the school Chromebook itself. It simply means using Roblox on a device and network where you have authorization. Keep your Roblox account secure, and do not share your password with anyone offering to “unblock” the Chromebook.
After access is approved: install Roblox correctly
Once the administrator has enabled Android apps and permitted Roblox—or when you are using an eligible personal Chromebook—follow this supported route:

- Update ChromeOS through the Chromebook’s Settings app if an update is available.
- Open Google Play Store.
- Search for Roblox.
- Select the Roblox Android app and choose Install.
- Launch Roblox after installation finishes.
Roblox’s Chromebook documentation describes Chromebook support through the Android app and requires Google Play Store access. It does not document a browser-only ChromeOS player. Therefore, the commonly repeated advice to “just play Roblox in Chrome” is not a supported solution for this situation.
What not to try
Several internet guides describe methods such as manually installing a Roblox APK, enabling Linux, turning on Developer Mode, changing Chrome flags, or attempting to remove the school enrollment. These are not documented by Google or Roblox as supported solutions for a managed-device restriction.
They can also violate school technology rules, cause data loss, trigger a device reset, or leave the Chromebook unable to connect to school services. Developer Mode and Linux do not grant permission to install an Android app that the administrator has blocked. Do not factory-reset a school Chromebook or attempt to remove its management profile; contact the administrator instead.
Troubleshooting Roblox after it installs
Roblox will not open or behaves incorrectly
Roblox recommends starting with these steps:
- Update ChromeOS.
- Confirm that Google Play Store is enabled.
- Close and reopen Roblox.
- Restart the Chromebook.
If the app is stuck, Roblox’s support instructions identify Chrome’s task manager at Chrome menu → More Tools → Task Manager. Select the relevant process and choose End Process, then try opening Roblox again. This is troubleshooting for an allowed installation; it does not remove an administrator block. A Bluetooth mouse does not work
Roblox specifically warns that its Chromebook app does not work with Bluetooth mice or other Bluetooth pointing devices. That is an app or device limitation, not evidence that the school restriction was bypassed incorrectly. Try the Chromebook’s built-in touchpad or a supported non-Bluetooth input device, if your school or device owner permits one.
The Play Store setting is missing
If Manage Google Play preferences is absent, check the Chromebook’s model and ChromeOS support documentation. If it is a school-managed device, ask the administrator whether Android apps are disabled. A missing setting cannot be restored by installing an APK or changing a Chrome flag.

Can I bypass a Roblox block on a school Chromebook?
