To play with friends in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, sign in to an Activision account, open the in-game Social menu, and add or invite your friend using their Activision ID. Once you’re connected, use the game’s current party prompts to invite them to a session.
How to add a friend in Black Ops 7
- Sign in to an Activision account. Activision says an account is required for online play in Black Ops 7. See Activision’s account registration support page.
- Open the Social menu. Activision identifies this as the place to manage friends in game.
- Search for your friend’s Activision ID. Enter the full ID, including the hash mark and number suffix if shown. Activision’s example is
DisplayName#1234567. - Send or accept the friend invitation. After you’re connected, select your friend and follow the current on-screen party or session invite prompts. The exact controls can differ by platform and interface, so use the labels shown in your game rather than assuming a particular button.
What if the friend isn’t in your list?
The Social menu also includes tools for reviewing incoming invitations and adding people you recently played with. If you have blocked the player, check the blocked-player controls there as well. Verify that you have the correct Activision ID, including its suffix, before sending another request.

Can you play the Black Ops 7 campaign together?
Yes. The official August 19, 2025 reveal describes the Co-Op Campaign as playable solo or with up to four players, including the host. Choose Co-Op Campaign after forming your party. That four-player limit is for the campaign; it should not be assumed to apply to every other mode.

Which platforms can you play on?
The official Black Ops 7 site lists Xbox, PlayStation, Battle.net, Steam, and Game Pass availability, and identifies Co-Op Campaign as a mode. Availability can vary by region and change over time. The sources here do not establish a universal cross-platform invitation setting or the party size for other modes, so follow the game’s current platform and mode-specific prompts.

Quick troubleshooting
- You can’t access online features: check that you’re signed in to an Activision account.
- Your friend doesn’t appear: search with their full Activision ID, including the number suffix, or check recently played players and incoming invitations in Social.
- You can’t invite them to the selected mode: confirm you have formed a party and use the in-game prompts for that mode; the campaign’s four-player limit does not establish limits for other modes.
