To play with a friend in Hello Kitty Island Adventure, unlock multiplayer, then have one player host and share the temporary code shown in Phone → Multiplayer. The other player selects Join Friend and enters that code. Co-op is for two players, and both need separate devices and saves, matching game versions, and compatible platforms.
Unlock multiplayer first
On the game’s community-maintained wiki, the listed requirement is to complete the quest “Small Gift Big Smile” and start “Friends From Afar.” Starting that quest unlocks the multiplayer functionality needed to host or join.

Host a game and invite a friend
- Open the host’s island. The host should load their save and open the in-game Phone.
- Open Multiplayer. Select the Multiplayer app and copy or share the invite code displayed there.
- Keep the Multiplayer app open. The code is temporary and may change if the host closes and reopens the app. Have your friend connect while the code is still displayed.
Join your friend’s island
- On the visiting player’s device, open Phone → Multiplayer → Join Friend. The Join Friend option is also available from the title screen.
- Enter the host’s current code and wait for the island to load. If the code is rejected or has expired, ask the host to generate and share a fresh one.
Check platform and account requirements
Multiplayer is a two-player visit: one person hosts and one visits. Each player needs their own device and save. The game wiki says both players must use the same platform and the same game update version; platform availability alone does not mean cross-play is supported. The official game site lists Apple Arcade, Nintendo Switch, Steam (PC), and PlayStation 5.

For Apple Arcade, the wiki’s troubleshooting guidance includes checking Game Center sign-in or restrictions and iCloud settings. The game’s official platform list does not itself establish which platforms can play together.

Fix common connection problems
- Code won’t work: Confirm the host has not reopened the Multiplayer app since sharing it. Codes expire within a few minutes, so get a new code if needed.
- Players cannot connect despite a fresh code: Check that both games are updated to the same version and that both players are on a compatible, matching platform.
- Connection drops while joining: Keep the game open on both devices. On mobile, minimizing the game may interrupt the connection.
- Network or account restrictions: Check internet quality and any firewall or network restrictions. On Apple Arcade, check Game Center and iCloud. On PlayStation, verify online permission in the game settings and the PS Plus subscription; on Switch, check Nintendo Switch Online.
- Still unable to join: Restart the game or device, or try a different internet connection. The game wiki warns that manually changing the device’s date or time can damage save behavior, so do not use date manipulation as a connection fix.
What co-op lets you do
Co-op lets a friend visit and play alongside you, rather than turning the main story into a shared campaign. Nintendo’s listing describes teaming up to explore, earn bonuses, and take snapshots; the game wiki characterizes multiplayer as a limited two-player visit, with much of the main story not designed for cooperative progression. Apple’s July 28, 2023 launch announcement also described inviting a friend or playing solo, though it predates later platform releases.
