In EA SPORTS FC 26, the route to the competition players still commonly call “Weekend League” is simpler than the old FUT Champs process: play Division Rivals, earn Champions Qualification Points (CQP), reach Division 6, and satisfy the CQP amount shown on your Champions screen. Once both conditions are met, the game qualifies you for Champions automatically.

Champions Play-Offs are not part of the FC 26 qualification route. Do not look for a Play-Offs run or a Finals Qualification Token. If you are in Division 7 or below, the available alternative is Challengers, a separate competition with its own format and rewards. The exact point requirement is not a universal number published by EA, so the live qualification panel in Ultimate Team is the authority.

What “Weekend League” means in FC 26

“Weekend League” and “FUT Champs” remain common player terms, but the current in-game names are Champions and, for lower divisions, Challengers. The qualification rules in this article are for FC 26 Ultimate Team. EA’s FC 26 launch update describes the current structure; announcements for a later game should not be substituted for these instructions.

The decisive change is the removal of Champions Play-Offs. FC 26 does not ask you to qualify through a preliminary Play-Offs tournament before entering Champions. Your progress comes from Division Rivals and the CQP total displayed in Ultimate Team.

The FC 26 qualification route at a glance

  1. Open Ultimate Team and play Division Rivals. Rivals matches are the source of CQP in the FC 26 route.
  2. Watch the Champions qualification panel. It shows the active CQP requirement for the event. EA’s launch announcement does not publish one universal number, so use the live value in your game rather than an old guide or a guessed total.
  3. Reach Division 6. EA says automatic Champions qualification applies when you are in Division 6 and have enough CQP.
  4. Wait for the automatic qualification state. When both the division and displayed-points conditions are satisfied, the game qualifies the account for Champions; there is no Play-Offs bracket to complete.
  5. Use the event-entry prompt. Open the available Champions event in Ultimate Team and follow the on-screen entry instructions during its active window.

If you remain in Division 7 or lower, check Challengers instead. It is not a failed Champions entry; it is the lower-division competition EA provides for that part of the ladder.

What you need before trying to qualify

You need access to EA SPORTS FC 26 and an Ultimate Team account on which you can play Division Rivals. Buying the game does not place the account in Champions, add CQP, or bypass the division requirement. Qualification is earned through the account’s Rivals progress and the event rules shown in-game.

Keep the FC 26 version and the correct Ultimate Team profile in mind when checking status. A qualification earned on one account should not be expected to appear on another profile, and instructions written for FC 25 or an earlier format may describe steps that no longer exist.

How CQP and Division Rivals fit together

Champions Qualification Points come from Rivals

CQP is the qualification currency for FC 26 Champions. You earn it by playing Division Rivals, then monitor your balance and the target shown in the Champions qualification display. The display is the authoritative figure for your current account and event. A number copied from an FC 25 article, a video, or a social-media post can be wrong even if it was once accurate.

Division 6 is a requirement, not a reward tier

Having enough CQP by itself is not the complete rule described by EA. You also need to reach Division 6. Conversely, reaching Division 6 without the required CQP does not satisfy the qualification conditions. Treat the two checks as a pair:

  • Division check: your Rivals placement is Division 6 or higher.
  • Points check: your current CQP meets or exceeds the amount shown in the Champions panel.

“Higher” here means a better division position than Division 6. The FC 26 announcement specifically identifies Division 6 as the automatic-qualification point; the game’s current UI should be used for the exact status and any event-specific wording.

Why there is no reliable universal points number in this guide

EA’s FC 26 launch update explains the CQP system and the Division 6 automatic-qualification rule but does not state a single numeric threshold that can safely be applied to every event. The amount shown in Ultimate Team is therefore more useful than a static number in an article. It also avoids confusing a qualification requirement with a reward or rank figure.

Step-by-step: qualify for Champions

1. Enter Ultimate Team

Start FC 26 and open Ultimate Team. Go to the area that lists the competitive modes, then select Division Rivals. The exact menu arrangement can move with seasonal or interface updates, but the mode names remain the important landmarks: Ultimate Team, Rivals, and Champions.

2. Locate the Champions qualification display before playing

Open the Champions tile or qualification panel and note three pieces of information: your division, your current CQP, and the requirement currently displayed for the active event. Taking this snapshot first prevents a common mistake—assuming that a remembered points total is still valid.

3. Play Division Rivals matches

Play Rivals to build CQP and progress through the divisions. The FC 26 rule supplied by EA identifies Rivals as the earning route; it does not replace that route with a separate Play-Offs tournament. Return to the Champions panel periodically to see how your balance compares with the live requirement.

4. Reach Division 6

Continue your Rivals progression until the account is in Division 6. If the interface shows a division below Division 6, you have not reached the automatic-Champions condition yet, even if your CQP balance looks sufficient.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

5. Meet the displayed CQP requirement

Once you are in Division 6, continue earning CQP until the qualification panel shows that the requirement has been met. Because EA has not published a universal total in the launch update, rely on the number and status label shown by the current game build.

6. Confirm the automatic qualification state

Reopen the Champions panel after the points update. Look for the game’s qualification confirmation or an active event-entry prompt. If the panel still shows a missing condition, follow the remaining condition it identifies rather than trying to redeem a token from an older format.

How to read the qualification panel

Use the panel as a three-part status check rather than looking only at the CQP balance. First, confirm that the account is in Division 6 or better. Second, compare the displayed balance with the current requirement. Third, read the state of the active Champions event: a qualified account may still need to wait until the event accepts entries.

If the panel changes after a Rivals result, reopen it and read the current status again. The useful evidence is the game’s present label, not a screenshot from a previous season or a guide that lists a fixed total. Do not treat the 15 Champions ranks, 12-win milestone, or 14-win milestone as CQP requirements; those numbers describe rewards after entry.

How to enter the Champions event

Use the in-game prompt, not a legacy token flow

After automatic qualification, select the active Champions event in Ultimate Team and follow its entry prompt. FC 26’s launch update removes Play-Offs, so there is no FC 26 Play-Offs result to carry forward and no Finals Qualification Token that you must redeem for this route.

Check the event window

Qualification and event availability are separate pieces of information. A qualified account still needs an active event or an available entry window. If the event tile is not accepting entries, read the date and status shown in Ultimate Team and return when the game marks the event as open. Do not infer a schedule from a previous version.

Confirm the account and mode

Make sure you are looking at the same Ultimate Team account on which you earned the CQP and reached Division 6. If you switch profiles, platforms, or modes and the qualification appears absent, first verify that the account and competition tile are the ones used for Rivals progress.

Champions versus Challengers

FC 26 separates the main Champions competition from a lower-division alternative. EA describes Challengers as its own version for players in Division 7 and below, with a distinct format and rewards. The official material does not establish a current match count or schedule for Challengers, so those details should be read from the live in-game tile rather than filled in from an older article.

Competition Division eligibility How you access it Format and rewards
Champions Division 6 or higher, plus the CQP requirement shown in Ultimate Team Earn CQP in Division Rivals; qualification becomes automatic when both conditions are met Champions event; FC 26 expands the reward structure to 15 rank tiers
Challengers Division 7 and below Check the Challengers tile for the available event and entry prompt Separate format and rewards; current match count and schedule are not stated in the official material used here

Being in Division 7 or below does not mean you should search for a hidden Play-Offs route. It means Challengers is the competition EA assigns to that division range until you progress farther up Rivals. The two modes should be compared by eligibility, live format, and rewards—not by assuming that Challengers is simply an unfinished Champions qualification attempt.

Do not follow the old Play-Offs instructions

Some EA support material still describes Champions as a sequence beginning with Play-Offs, followed by a Finals Qualification Token and token redemption. The EA Help Champions article contains that older sequence. It conflicts with the FC 26-specific launch update, which explicitly says Champions Play-Offs have been removed.

For FC 26, prefer the version-specific launch update and your current Ultimate Team interface. If an old page tells you to win Play-Offs matches, obtain a Finals Qualification Token, or redeem that token for Finals, those steps are not the FC 26 route described by EA’s launch announcement. The discrepancy is a version issue, not an extra requirement you must satisfy.

What the 15 Champions ranks mean

Qualification gets you into the event; it does not determine your final rank. EA says FC 26 expands Champions from 10 rank tiers to 15, with rewards granted for every win. The launch update also identifies milestone tiers at 12 wins and 14 wins.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • 15 rank tiers: the expanded reward ladder after you are participating in Champions.
  • Rewards for every win: progress is not limited to a single end-of-event payout.
  • 12- and 14-win milestones: named milestones within the reward structure.

None of those figures is a qualification threshold. CQP and Division 6 determine access; wins and milestones determine progress within the Champions reward ladder. A player cannot qualify by reaching 12 or 14 wins in another competition, and owning a higher rank does not replace the Rivals conditions.

Troubleshooting qualification and entry problems

The panel says I have enough CQP, but I am not qualified

Check your Rivals division first. FC 26’s automatic rule requires Division 6 as well as enough CQP. If the account is still in Division 7 or below, the relevant competition is Challengers, not Champions.

I reached Division 6, but the event is still locked

Reopen the qualification display and compare your balance with the active requirement shown there. Reaching the division is only one condition. If the points have just been earned, leave and re-enter the panel so the account status can refresh, then follow the exact missing-condition message.

The game is asking for a Finals Qualification Token

That wording matches the older Play-Offs sequence described by the generic EA Help page. FC 26’s launch update removes Play-Offs. Check that you are in FC 26 Ultimate Team and that the event tile is not displaying a legacy or unrelated mode before taking any action.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

I cannot see a Champions event after qualifying

Look at the event status and dates in Ultimate Team. Qualification does not make a closed event open immediately. If the tile says the event is unavailable, wait for the next active entry window shown in-game rather than assuming your qualification has disappeared.

I am in Division 7 or below and cannot enter Champions

Open Challengers. EA identifies Challengers as the separate competition for Division 7 and lower. Its live format and rewards are distinct, and the official material used for this guide does not provide a fixed match count or schedule.

Can I use a points total from an older guide?

Do not rely on it. EA’s FC 26 launch update does not publish a universal numeric threshold. Read the requirement attached to the active Champions event in your own Ultimate Team qualification display.

Does buying a special edition or owning the game guarantee entry?

No purchase grants the qualification conditions described here. Ownership gives access to the game and its Ultimate Team mode; CQP, Division 6, and the active event prompt still control entry.

Version boundaries: FC 26 is not FC 27

Rules in this guide are tied to FC 26. EA’s FC 27 launch update discusses a later game version and should not be blended into FC 26 instructions. When a new title or seasonal redesign changes the qualification path, check the launch notes for that specific version and then verify the active requirement in Ultimate Team.

Does buying FC 26 grant Champions qualification?

No. Buying or owning the game gives you access to the Ultimate Team mode, but it does not grant an automatic Champions place. You still have to play Division Rivals, earn the required CQP, and reach Division 6. The qualification status belongs to the Ultimate Team account and event rules, not to the purchase itself. See the official EA SPORTS FC 26 game page for the game overview; current edition availability, platform pricing, and stock are separate purchase questions and do not change the in-game qualification conditions.

FC 26 Champions qualification checklist

  • Open the correct FC 26 Ultimate Team account.
  • Play Division Rivals to earn CQP.
  • Read the current CQP requirement in the Champions qualification display.
  • Reach Division 6.
  • Meet the displayed points requirement.
  • Confirm automatic qualification in the Champions panel.
  • Check that the event is currently accepting entries.
  • Enter through the active in-game event prompt.
  • If you are Division 7 or below, use Challengers instead.
  • Ignore Play-Offs and Finals-token instructions that belong to the older format.

The practical answer

For FC 26, qualify through Rivals, not Play-Offs: earn CQP, reach Division 6, satisfy the amount shown in the live Champions panel, and then enter through the event prompt. Players in Division 7 or below should use Challengers. The exact points total is not published as a universal number in EA’s FC 26 launch update, so the in-game qualification display is the source to trust. The 15-rank reward ladder, rewards for every win, and 12- and 14-win milestones matter after entry; they do not replace the two qualification conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I qualify for FC Champions in FC 26?

Play Division Rivals to earn Champions Qualification Points, reach Division 6, and meet the CQP requirement shown in the Champions qualification panel. Qualification becomes automatic when both conditions are satisfied.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How many Champions points do I need?

EA’s FC 26 launch update does not publish one universal number. Open the active Champions qualification display in Ultimate Team and use the requirement shown there.

Are Champions Play-Offs still required in FC 26?

No. EA says Champions Play-Offs were removed for FC 26. Do not follow older instructions about winning Play-Offs or redeeming a Finals Qualification Token.

How do I enter Weekend League after qualifying?

Open the active Champions event in Ultimate Team and follow its in-game entry prompt during the listed entry window. “Weekend League” is the familiar player name for Champions.

What happens if I am in Division 7 or lower?

EA provides Challengers for Division 7 and below. It has a separate format and rewards; check its live tile for current details.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do 12 wins or 14 wins qualify me for Champions?

No. Those are milestone tiers in FC 26’s Champions reward structure. CQP and Division 6 determine access.

Why does an EA Help page mention Play-Offs and a Finals token?

That support sequence is older or generic guidance and conflicts with the FC 26 launch update. For FC 26, follow the version-specific update and the current Ultimate Team interface.

Does buying EA SPORTS FC 26 give me a Champions entry?

No. Ownership provides access to the game and Ultimate Team, but you must still earn CQP in Rivals and reach Division 6.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: In FC 26, play Division Rivals, earn the CQP shown as required, reach Division 6, and enter Champions through the live in-game prompt. There is no Play-Offs or Finals-token step. Division 7 and below use Challengers.
