In an ordinary Minecraft: Bedrock Edition world, you cannot switch achievements back on after that save has been marked ineligible. Saving the world with cheats enabled, Creative mode, certain experiments, or disqualifying add-ons sets a world-specific flag. Turning cheats off or returning to Survival later does not clear it. Minecraft Help identifies two supported ways forward: restore a backup from before the flag was set, or create a new world from the original seed. A managed server such as exaroton documents a separate, provider-specific level.dat editing procedure, but that is a third-party save modification rather than an official local-world reset. Make a duplicate backup before attempting any recovery.
Why are achievements still disabled after I turned cheats off?
Bedrock records achievement eligibility in the world save, not just in the current menu settings. Once a world has been saved after cheats or Creative mode were enabled, the ineligible state normally persists for that world. Switching the toggles back, changing the mode to Survival, or stopping the use of commands does not retroactively make earlier progress eligible.

The same warning applies to other content that can disable achievements, including some experiments, add-ons, templates, and external content. Rules can change between Bedrock versions; a reference entry notes a preview change involving verified Marketplace add-ons, so the exact game version and the source of the content matter when diagnosing a world.
- World-specific: the flag belongs to that save and does not automatically affect every world on your account.
- Permanent in normal settings: Bedrock provides no supported local menu command that clears an already-saved ineligible flag.
- Not proof of cheating: Mojang’s bug tracker includes reports of accidental or unexplained disablement. If you never used a disqualifying setting, preserve the original save before changing anything.
What are the supported ways to recover achievements?
The preservation-friendly choice is to restore a backup made before achievements were disabled. If no such backup exists, Minecraft Help says to recreate the world from its seed; that restores the generated terrain, not the old world’s progress.

How do I restore a backup without losing my builds?
Restore the newest copy made before the world became ineligible, and keep the current save untouched until you have confirmed the restored copy behaves as expected. This is the only route that can preserve your earlier world progress while using an officially documented recovery approach.
1. Stop making changes
Quit the world immediately. Do not test commands, toggle Creative again, remove add-ons at random, or save over the original while you investigate. Every additional save can make it harder to identify the last eligible state.
2. Duplicate or export the current world
Use Bedrock’s copy or export function where your platform provides it, or make a complete server backup. Give the copy a date-based name and store it separately. This copy is your rollback if the backup you restore is older than expected or proves damaged.
3. Identify the last eligible date
List your available world backups and compare their timestamps with the first time you enabled cheats, switched to Creative, activated an experiment, or installed content that can disable achievements. Choose the newest backup that predates that event. If you are unsure which setting caused the change, treat the earliest suspicious save as the cutoff.
4. Restore as a separate copy first
Do not overwrite the only copy of the current world. Restore the candidate backup under a new name, then open that copy with the same Bedrock edition and sign in to the account that normally tracks achievements on your platform.
5. Check the world before investing more time
Confirm that the expected builds, player location, inventory and other progress match the backup date. Open the world settings and verify that it is configured for Survival without cheats before playing. A setting change made after restoration can disable eligibility again, so avoid enabling commands or Creative even temporarily.

6. Keep both saves until you are satisfied
Retain the original and the restored copy for a while. If the restored world is missing a build or uses the wrong date, you can return to the untouched original and select another backup instead of losing both versions.
What if I have no backup from before achievements were disabled?
Recreate a new world from the original seed. The seed reproduces the world-generation pattern, but it does not bring back the old player’s inventory, builds, maps, statistics, villagers, farms or other saved progress.
Find and record the seed
If the ineligible world still opens, copy its seed from the world information screen before starting over. Keep the exact value, including a minus sign if present. If you cannot open the world, check any notes, server configuration or export metadata where the seed may have been recorded; do not guess.
Create the replacement world
Start a new Bedrock world with the same seed, the same broad world-generation options and a Survival configuration with cheats disabled. Differences in the Bedrock version, experimental toggles, simulation settings or templates can change generation even when the numeric seed is identical, so record the original version and options if you know them.
Understand what will and will not match
- Terrain and many naturally generated structures should follow the seed’s generation rules for that version.
- Your old constructions, storage, farms, redstone systems, pets, villagers, maps, achievements and statistics are not copied into the new save.
- Player inventory and ender-chest contents do not return automatically.
- Any generated feature affected by a version change or an experimental setting may differ from the old world.
Keep the old save archived. It remains useful as a visual reference or a source of coordinates and building plans, even though it cannot normally be made eligible through the Bedrock settings.
Can a level.dat editor re-enable achievements?
Sometimes, but only as a risky, provider- or tool-specific save edit. exaroton documents an editor workflow for its hosted worlds; a Windows community tutorial describes editing Bedrock data with MCCToolChest. Neither establishes a supported universal reset for local Bedrock saves.

What exaroton documents
For an exaroton-hosted world, the documented sequence is to stop the server, edit the relevant level.dat values, then turn off Allow cheats and set the game mode to Survival. The values named by exaroton are cheatsEnabled, commandsEnabled and hasBeenLoadedInCreative. The server must be stopped before editing so that it cannot write the old values back over your changes.

- Stop the exaroton server and wait until it is fully offline.
- Create and download a separate backup of the entire world.
- Open exaroton’s
level.dateditor and locatecheatsEnabled,commandsEnabledandhasBeenLoadedInCreative. - Apply the values specified by exaroton’s current help instructions, save the file, and upload or commit it through the host’s documented workflow.
- In the server settings, disable Allow cheats and select Survival.
- Start the server, join with the correct account, and verify the save before doing any further configuration.
Provider interfaces and tag behavior can change with Bedrock releases. Follow the host’s current instructions for the exact value state; do not copy a value from an unrelated Java Edition guide.
Why local NBT editing is not a guaranteed fix
A community tutorial can show that a tool opens and changes a file, but it cannot guarantee that Mojang will recognize the resulting world as achievement-eligible. Bedrock save formats, tag names and validation behavior can change. An incorrect edit can corrupt chunks, remove settings, or make the world fail to load. Always work on a duplicate and retain the untouched original.
How should I decide between a backup, a new seed world and an editor?
Use the least invasive option that meets your goal. A backup is the clear first choice when preserving progress matters; seed recreation is the dependable fallback when no eligible backup exists; editing is a last resort for a managed server where the provider explicitly supports it.
- Choose a backup when you have any copy from before the disablement and can accept losing changes made after that date.
- Choose seed recreation when no suitable backup exists, you want an officially described path, and rebuilding is preferable to risking the original save.
- Consider a documented server editor only when the world is hosted by a provider that names the required tags and you understand that the result is not an official local-world reset.
- Do not edit first if you suspect a bug. Preserve the save, record the Bedrock version and content installed, and check current Mojang bug reports before making irreversible changes.
What can accidentally disable Bedrock achievements?
Cheats and Creative mode are the common triggers, but they are not the only possibilities. Record every world setting and content change around the time the achievement indicator changed.

Saving after enabling cheats or loading the world in Creative can set the ineligible state. Returning to Survival and disabling the visible controls later does not clear the stored flag.

Experiments, add-ons and templates
Some experiments, add-ons and templates disable achievements. External content and Marketplace content can be governed differently, and a preview change has been recorded for verified Marketplace add-ons. Check the exact Bedrock version and whether the content came from the Marketplace, an external pack or a template before assuming that every add-on behaves identically.
Unexpected or unexplained changes
Mojang’s bug tracker contains reports from players who say eligibility changed without an intentional setting change. That does not prove a particular report applies to your save, but it is a reason to preserve the world and document the symptoms instead of immediately rewriting level.dat.

Sign in to the account that records achievements for the platform, then keep the world in a normal Survival configuration. Achievement tracking depends on the platform account as well as the world state.
- Use the same account you expect to receive the achievement notification.
- Do not enable cheats, Creative mode or an experiment that disables achievements, even for a short troubleshooting session.
- Keep a fresh backup before installing new add-ons or making major configuration changes.
- When an achievement does not appear, check account sign-in and platform tracking before editing the save.
What is the safest complete recovery checklist?
Follow this order so that every option remains available and the original evidence is preserved.
- Quit without making another world-setting change.
- Duplicate or export the current world and store the copy separately.
- Record the Bedrock version, platform, seed, installed packs, experiments and the approximate time eligibility changed.
- Check whether the world was ever loaded in Creative, had cheats or commands enabled, or used a disqualifying add-on or template.
- Restore the newest backup from before the event, opening it as a separate copy first.
- If no eligible backup exists, create a new Survival world from the original seed and keep the old save archived.
- Only on a managed server with explicit documentation, evaluate a
level.datedit; never experiment on the only copy. - Sign in to the correct platform account and maintain achievement-safe settings going forward.
Can I transfer my builds from the ineligible world to a new seed world?
The seed-recreation process itself does not transfer builds or inventory. Any migration would require a separate world-editing or structure-copy workflow, and using commands or editors in the destination can itself affect achievement eligibility. Preserve the original and verify the destination’s rules before attempting any transfer.
Will changing from Creative to Survival restore trophies on consoles?
No. The Bedrock world flag is stored with the save, so changing the mode after the fact does not restore eligibility on console or another platform. Only a pre-disable backup, a newly recreated world, or a provider-specific edit outside the normal settings can change the situation.

Do achievements work if I play offline?
Achievement recording depends on the platform account and its tracking service. Sign in to the account associated with the platform when you test an eligible world; an offline session may not immediately report progress even when the world itself is configured correctly.
Is an NBT editor safe for every Bedrock version?
No. Editors and tutorials target particular save formats and may become incompatible after a Bedrock update. Treat every edit as experimental, use a complete backup, and prefer a provider’s current documented procedure over a generic tool guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I copy my old inventory into a new achievement world?
A seed recreation does not carry inventory or statistics across automatically. Any manual transfer requires additional editing or commands, which can compromise the new world’s eligibility, so keep the replacement world untouched until you understand the consequences.
What information should I save before contacting support about a false disablement?
Record the Bedrock version, platform, world seed, account, installed packs, experiments, date of the first warning and a copy of the world file. Screenshots of the settings and achievement message can help distinguish an intentional flag from a possible bug.

Does deleting an add-on remove the achievement restriction?
Not necessarily. If the world was saved while the add-on or another disqualifying setting was active, removing it later does not generally clear the stored world flag. Restore a pre-change backup or start from the seed instead.
Can a server administrator reset achievements for everyone without replacing the world?
Only a host with a documented save editor may offer such a workflow, and the result is not guaranteed by the official local-world support guidance. Administrators should stop the server, create a full backup and follow the provider’s version-specific instructions.
