To reach Chapter 5’s secret area, Bishui Cave, complete the Five Element Carts questline: defeat Pale-Axe Stalwart, progress through the cart encounters, defeat Rusty-Gold Cart at the frozen gate near Cooling Slope, then speak to the Stalwart and open the gate.
Start the Five Element Carts quest
- Travel to Woods of Ember > Ashen Pass I and defeat Pale-Axe Stalwart.
- Talk to him repeatedly until his dialogue starts repeating. This begins the task of finding the Chapter 5 Element Carts.
The route then follows Chapter 5’s progression: Brown-Iron and Gray-Bronze carts appear along the main path, and you encounter Crimson-Silver Cart after advancing through Furnace Valley and Emerald Hall. Activate the stuck cart at Valley Entrance
- At Furnace Valley > Valley Entrance, go into the corner beside the lava.
- Pull the cord on the cart stuck there, then exhaust its dialogue.
This cart is associated with Horse Guai. His broader quest has conditions spanning other chapters, but the available walkthroughs do not establish that completing every part of that separate quest is required to unlock Bishui Cave. Gamer Guides’ Horse Guai quest walkthrough covers those additional conditions.

Reach Rusty-Gold Cart at Cooling Slope
- From Field of Fire > Fallen Furnace Crater, turn back down the path associated with the rolling ball. Its movement opens a barrier along the route.
- Take the left-hand path, continue past Flint Vanguard, and proceed to Cooling Slope.
- Approach the large frozen gate to trigger the Rusty-Gold Cart encounter.
If Rusty-Gold Cart does not appear, revisit Pale-Axe Stalwart at Ashen Pass I and at his later location after the Crimson-Silver Cart encounter. Exhaust his dialogue at both locations, then return to the frozen gate. This is the troubleshooting sequence in PowerPyx’s cart quest walkthrough.

Defeat the cart and enter Bishui Cave
- Defeat Rusty-Gold Cart.
- Speak with the wounded Pale-Axe Stalwart beside the frozen gate.
- Interact with the gate and follow the path. A scene transports you to Bishui Cave.
Be sure to speak with the Stalwart after the fight and interact with the gate; defeating the cart alone does not complete the entry sequence. The final steps are also shown in PowerPyx’s Bishui Cave route.
