The Aredia City Gym is closed when you first arrive because Prince Ryan is away. Speak to the guards at the Gym at the back of the city; they send you to Old Aredia. Help Ryan in Aredia Ruins, then return to the Gym and work through its underground digging challenge to find him.
Find Prince Ryan in Old Aredia first
- Visit the Gym entrance. At the back of Aredia City, speak with the guards. They explain that the Gym Leader is absent and direct you to Old Aredia.
- Go through the gate into Old Aredia. Continue across the ruined area toward Aredia Ruins.
- Help Ryan at the Ruins. Ryan is confronting two Team Eclipse members who stole the King’s red jewel. Battle both members. After the encounter, Ryan thanks you and gives you HM Rock Smash. It cannot be used outside battle until you have the Crater Badge.
Return to Aredia Gym and follow the underground puzzle
Go back to the Gym after the Ruins encounter. The Ground-type Gym challenge takes place underground: battle miners to obtain tools, then dig through blocks and passages until you locate Ryan. The Chapter 15 community walkthrough describes this sequence for Normal Adventure Mode.

Get the shovel and pickaxe from the miners
- Defeat Miner Chuck to receive the shovel.
- Continue through the underground puzzle and battle the miners you encounter.
- After Miner Chance, Miner Carson gives you the pickaxe.
- Use the tools to dig through the puzzle. The walkthrough suggests clearing a layer and digging down if you cannot see the next trainer.
Keep searching until you find Ryan
Continue digging through the underground area after collecting the tools and completing the trainer battles. Finding Prince Ryan triggers the Gym Leader battle.
Prepare for Ryan’s Ground-type team
The Chapter 15 walkthrough lists Ryan’s Normal Adventure Mode team as Quagsire (level 55), Steelix (level 56), Claydol (level 56), Excadrill (level 56), and Mega Garchomp (level 57). It recommends Grass, Water, or Ice moves against the team overall. These are community-guide team details and recommendations, not official documentation.
#1 Best Overall
- Shape the world and build a cozy new life with Pokémon as a Ditto transformed to look like a human.
- Use other Pokémon’s moves, like Bulbasaur’s Leafage, to revitalize and navigate the world around you.
- Meet and befriend more Pokémon as you help nature flourish.
- Gather materials to create items and furniture, till the fields to grow delicious crops, build homes for the Pokémon you meet, and more—there’s so much to do!
- Experience a world with varied weather, real-time days and nights, and other surprises.
- Grass is especially useful against Quagsire, whose Water typing makes Water and Ice moves less effective against it.
- Ice is a strong option against Garchomp, which the guide identifies as four-times weak to Ice.
- Ryan’s final Pokémon can Mega Evolve, according to the same walkthrough.
Version note
These directions follow the Pokémon Brick Bronze story represented by the cited community-maintained walkthrough pages. The Gym battle details are explicitly for Normal Adventure Mode. If you are playing a different Roblox experience or re-creation with an Aredia City, its character names, story sequence, or puzzle may differ.
