To leave your club in Football Manager 2024 without ending your manager’s career, find the Resign action in your manager profile or contract area, then read and confirm the in-game prompt. The exact FM24 menu path is not verified across platforms: the documented path is from FM18, where the option was under My Contract on the Home screen.
How to resign from your club

Load your active save and open your manager’s Home, Profile, or contract area.

Read the confirmation dialogue. Make sure it says you are leaving the club you intend to leave, then confirm only if that is your choice.

Continue the save as an unemployed manager and check for vacancies or offers. You may need to wait; no source establishes how quickly another job will become available.
Choose the option that matches your goal

Resign and retire are not the same
Resign is the option for leaving your current club while carrying on the career. Retire ends the manager’s career in the game world, according to the FM18 help wording. Check the button label and confirmation text carefully before proceeding.

Why the FM24 menu path may differ
The clearest documented navigation is from an official-hints post for FM18: it says to select Resign from My Contract on the Home screen. That is useful guidance for what to look for, but it does not verify that FM24 uses the same screen names or steps. SEGA’s Football Manager 2024 support index lists general support categories, but the page inspected does not give a resignation walkthrough. Available player discussions also do not establish one route for PC, Console, Touch, and Mobile.

What to expect after resigning
You can continue the save as an unemployed manager and look for another role. An FM24 player’s save report describes resigning and waiting for a club offer, but that is one player’s account—not a guarantee that an offer will arrive, or arrive within a particular time, in every save. Contract expiry is another situation players discuss, but the available FM24 discussion is anecdotal and does not establish a universal outcome.
