To unlock Katherine’s late-game scene, complete The Fifth Commandment in Kuttenberg and finish The Stalker during The Lion’s Den before that main quest ends. Then, during Hunger and Despair at Suchdol, ask Zizka about Katherine’s past, choose her heart-marked reassurance, and interact with the bedding on the ramparts.
This route includes major quest and romance spoilers. The steps below draw on a GameSpot walkthrough and a KCD2.org route guide updated August 24, 2026; these are walkthrough sources, not official game documentation.

Complete the two key personal quests
The Fifth Commandment in Kuttenberg
Speak with Katherine at the Kingfisher Inn and complete her murder investigation. The investigation can end with reporting the culprit to the bailiff or allowing Katherine to take revenge. The updated route guide says either outcome can preserve the romance; finishing the quest matters more than choosing a particular resolution. It also reports that letting Katherine act may improve reputation. KCD2.org’s route guide and GameSpot’s walkthrough cover the quest.
The Stalker during The Lion’s Den
After the bathhouse sequence in Sigismund’s camp, speak with Katherine and ask what is troubling her to start The Stalker. Find Chakan, confront him, and report back to Katherine; the quest is not complete until you make that report. Do all of this before finishing The Lion’s Den: Katherine leaves the camp when the main quest ends, making The Stalker unavailable. Both GameSpot and KCD2.org identify this timing as a missable point.

Find Chakan and finish The Stalker
GameSpot describes tracking Chakan with Mutt using Katherine’s shoe. If Mutt is unavailable, the updated route guide describes a nighttime encounter where you can use speech or intimidation, pay 200 groschen, or win an unarmed fight. The 200-groschen amount is the bribe option reported by that guide, not a general quest cost. If you fight, avoid drawing a weapon for the fistfight. Whatever method you use, return to Katherine afterward to complete the quest.
Early flirting is not the main route flag
Early flirt dialogue is described by the walkthroughs as an optional reputation opportunity, rather than the central requirement for the late-game scene. The current route guide says one failed early flirt generally does not end the romance. Prioritize the two personal quests and avoid repeated hostile responses instead of restarting over one missed flirt.

Trigger Katherine’s scene at Suchdol
During Hunger and Despair, after the attack at Suchdol, follow these steps:

Speak with Jan Zizka about Katherine’s past.

Speak with Katherine near the outdoor infirmary.

Choose the heart-marked response: “I’ll bring help, and everything will be alright again.”

When the objective permits, go to the ramparts and interact with the bedding.
The KCD2.org route guide reports that this sequence triggers Katherine’s scene. If the heart-marked response is missing, check that you completed The Fifth Commandment and fully finished The Stalker, including reporting back to Katherine before The Lion’s Den ended.
Choose between Katherine and Hans at the farewell
At the final Suchdol farewell, the Katherine and Hans encounters are reported as mutually exclusive. Choosing Hans advances the main objective and skips Katherine’s scene. If you want to compare the branches, save before the farewell; that is practical walkthrough advice, not a guarantee for every patched save state. An earlier romance does not, by itself, prevent the final Katherine choice, according to the updated route guide. GameSpot and KCD2.org describe the branch.
