The correct way to set up a GameSir controller depends on its exact model. Read the model name on the controller or box first, then follow that model’s manual for USB-C, Bluetooth, or receiver pairing. PC and Xbox setup may also require GameSir Connect, GameSir Nexus, GameSir App, or GameHub, while PS5 compatibility must be confirmed model by model rather than assumed.
This guide gives the safest setup path for each platform, explains which software does what, and provides a troubleshooting order that avoids undocumented button combinations.

Start with the exact GameSir model
“GameSir controller” describes a product family, not one universal device. Different models use different wireless receivers, pairing controls, input modes, platform licenses, and companion applications. The model name is usually printed on the front, rear label, packaging, or original receipt.

- Connection method: determine whether the manual specifies a USB-C data cable, Bluetooth, a dedicated wireless receiver, or more than one option.
- Input mode: note whether the controller offers XInput, DirectInput, Switch-style, or another documented mode.
- Companion software: install only the application named for that model.
- Included hardware: verify whether the box contains the required cable or wireless receiver; availability is model-specific.
Which connection and app should you use?
The table below is a decision guide, not a substitute for the model manual. “Supported” means the model must be explicitly listed by GameSir for that platform or software.
| Platform or task | Connection to look for | Software or confirmation required | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Windows PC | USB-C data cable, Bluetooth, or model-specific receiver | Use the model’s listed GameSir software; test in Windows or a game | Wireless and wired modes can expose different input modes |
| Xbox | Connection specified for an Xbox-compatible model | Confirm Xbox licensing and use GameSir Nexus only when the model is listed | PC compatibility does not prove Xbox compatibility |
| Nintendo Switch | Documented Switch wireless or wired mode | Confirm the model is categorized for Switch, then pair in Switch settings if required | ABXY labels, wake behavior, and Bluetooth behavior vary |
| PS5 | Only the method explicitly described by the model manual | Look for direct PS5 support, a licensed adapter, or a remote-play-compatible workflow | There is no universal GameSir-to-PS5 pairing procedure |
| Firmware and customization | Usually through the listed app over the connected controller | Use GameSir Connect, GameSir Nexus, GameSir App, or GameHub according to the model | GameSir’s downloads page says separate firmware files are not required |
Set up a GameSir controller on Windows PC
Windows is the most flexible destination because many GameSir models support wired USB, Bluetooth, or a receiver. Start with the connection path printed in the manual and keep the controller in the documented PC input mode.
1. Prepare the controller and PC
- Write down the exact model name.
- Open the model’s manual and identify the PC connection method and mode.
- Charge the controller if it has an internal battery. For a wired connection, use a USB-C cable that carries data, not only power, when the manual requires data communication.
- If the model uses a receiver, locate the receiver supplied for that controller. Do not assume that a receiver from another GameSir model is interchangeable.
2. Connect by USB-C
- Connect the controller directly to the PC with the documented USB-C data cable.
- Wait for Windows to finish detecting the device.
- Set the controller to the PC mode specified by the manual if the model has multiple modes.
- Open Windows’ game-controller panel and verify that button presses, sticks, triggers, and vibration respond as expected.
A wired connection is the best first test because it removes Bluetooth pairing and receiver variables. If Windows does not react, try another USB port and a known-good data cable, provided the manual permits cable replacement.

3. Connect by Bluetooth
- Put the controller into its documented Bluetooth pairing mode. The button combination is model-specific; use the manual rather than a generic GameSir sequence.
- In Windows, open Settings > Bluetooth & devices, turn Bluetooth on, and choose Add device.
- Select Bluetooth, choose the controller’s name, and wait for Windows to report that it is connected.
- Return to the manual’s recommended input mode if the controller exposes separate Bluetooth profiles.
If the controller appears but will not complete pairing, remove its old entry from Windows, power-cycle the controller, and repeat the documented pairing process. Keep the controller close to the PC during the first pairing attempt.
4. Connect with a wireless receiver
- Insert the receiver into a direct USB port on the PC.
- Turn on the controller in the receiver mode specified by its manual.
- Use the manual’s pairing control if the controller and receiver do not link automatically.
- Test input in Windows before opening a game.
Receiver pairing is not the same as Bluetooth pairing. Do not use Bluetooth instructions for a receiver model, and do not assume a receiver can be replaced by a generic wireless adapter.
5. Install the correct GameSir software
GameSir’s downloads page separates applications by supported product group. Install only the tool that lists your model:

- Update firmware before changing mappings, if an update is offered for the exact model.
- Adjust dead zones, trigger ranges, vibration, or button assignments only if the installed software exposes those controls.
- Save a profile when the application supports profiles. GameSir Nexus supports up to three profiles for its listed controllers.
- Test in Windows’ game-controller panel, then in a known game.
- If the game still does not detect the controller, inspect the game’s controller settings and the controller’s documented input mode before changing any mapping.
Pair a GameSir controller with Xbox
Xbox setup begins with platform compatibility, not pairing. Choose a GameSir model explicitly categorized for Xbox. A controller working on Windows is not automatically compatible with an Xbox console.
Confirm Xbox support
Check the product listing and manual for Xbox support and any licensing statement. GameSir Nexus is intended for GameSir Xbox-licensed controllers. Its listed families include G7, G7 SE, G7 HE, T7, T7 Pro, Kaleid, Kaleid Flux, and G7 Pro.
Use the model’s documented connection
- Connect the controller to the Xbox using the cable, receiver, or other method named in the manual.
- Put the controller in the required Xbox mode.
- Wait for the Xbox to register the controller, then test the sticks, triggers, menu controls, and headset functions if the model provides them.
- If the controller is not detected, disconnect it, restart the console, and repeat the manual’s connection sequence.
For models supported by GameSir Nexus, the software is available through Microsoft Store on PC and Xbox. Use it for firmware, mappings, profiles, stick and trigger tuning, and vibration settings that the model exposes.
Connect a GameSir controller to Nintendo Switch
Use a GameSir model listed for Nintendo Switch and follow its Switch-specific mode instructions. Switch support is a separate product category from GameSir’s PC and Xbox families.
Wireless setup
- Open the controller manual and find the Switch mode and pairing control.
- On the console, open Controllers > Change Grip/Order.
- Put the GameSir controller into the documented Switch pairing mode.
- Wait for the controller to appear, then select it on the console.
- Test all buttons, both sticks, triggers, vibration, and motion features if the model claims to support them.
The exact wake-up behavior differs by model. Some controllers may not wake the console wirelessly, and Xbox-style ABXY lettering can differ from Nintendo’s on-screen arrangement. Read the model documentation rather than inferring behavior from the printed labels.

- Connect the controller to the console or dock with the required cable.
- Open the controller-order screen if the Switch does not register it immediately.
- Test the controller in a game after it appears in the order list.
Do not assume that a controller’s Bluetooth mode and wired mode offer identical features. The manual determines which functions are available in each mode.
Can you use a GameSir controller on PS5?
There is no universal answer. The official GameSir material cited for this guide does not provide one PS5 compatibility matrix or one pairing sequence for every model.
Check the exact model manual for one of three possibilities:
- Direct PS5 support: the controller is explicitly documented as working with the console.
- Licensed-adapter support: the manual names a compatible adapter and explains how to use it.
- Remote-play-compatible workflow: the controller is used through a supported remote-play arrangement rather than as a native PS5 controller.
If PS5 is not listed in the manual, treat the controller as unsupported for direct PS5 use. Do not infer PS5 compatibility from PC, Xbox, or Switch support, and do not rely on an undocumented button combination.

Why a GameSir controller is not detected
Work through the following order. It prevents you from changing several variables at once and makes it easier to identify whether the problem is compatibility, connection, software, firmware, or a game setting.
1. Verify the model and platform
Read the model name again and confirm that the platform is listed. If the controller is not categorized for Xbox, Switch, or PS5, no pairing trick can create official compatibility.
2. Confirm the physical connection
- For USB, reconnect with the documented data cable and try another USB port.
- For Bluetooth, remove the old Windows or console pairing and repeat the manual’s pairing mode.
- For a receiver, reseat the receiver and use its documented pairing process.
- Keep the controller charged when using wireless modes.
3. Select the documented input mode
A controller may be connected but expose the wrong protocol for a particular game. Check whether the game expects XInput, DirectInput, Switch-style input, or another mode supported by the controller. Change only the mode named in the manual.
4. Install the matching application
Use the model list for GameSir Connect, GameSir Nexus, GameSir App, or GameHub. Installing every GameSir utility can create confusion; the correct application is the one that lists your controller.
5. Update firmware safely
Run the update through the official application. Keep the controller connected and do not interrupt power during the process. GameSir’s downloads guidance says firmware updates are delivered through these apps, not as separate firmware files.

If Windows or the console sees the controller but one game does not, the hardware connection is working. Open the game’s controller settings, enable the expected input type, and check for an existing controller profile or conflicting remapping. Test another known game before making further changes.
7. Escalate through official support
GameSir’s Support Center groups connectivity help, firmware updates, button mapping, manuals, and tutorials. Have the exact model, platform, connection method, software version, and visible symptom ready when using those resources.
How to compare two GameSir models before buying or switching
Compatibility is easier to judge when every model is checked against the same criteria.
Quick Recap
| Comparison point | Question to answer | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Target platform | Is PC, Xbox, Switch, or PS5 explicitly named? | Support on one platform does not establish support on another. |
| Connection | Does it use USB-C, Bluetooth, a receiver, or a combination? | Each path has different pairing and input behavior. |
| Companion app | Is the model listed under Connect, Nexus, GameSir App, or GameHub? | The wrong utility may not detect the controller. |
| Firmware route | Which official app supplies updates? | Updates are handled through the listed apps rather than separate firmware files. |
| Input layout and modes | What labels and protocols does the manual specify? | ABXY legends and XInput, DirectInput, or Switch modes affect game recognition. |
| Box contents | Are the required cable and receiver included? | A missing model-specific accessory can block the intended connection. |
Final setup checklist
- Identify the complete model name.
- Confirm the target platform in the manual or official product category.
- Choose the documented USB-C, Bluetooth, or receiver path.
- Use the model’s exact pairing or mode instructions.
- Install only the companion app that lists the model.
- Update firmware through that app before extensive remapping.
- Test in the operating system, then in a game.
- For PS5, require explicit manual confirmation or treat direct use as unsupported.
